Both midnight light and admirals pipe sound fantastic by their descriptions....but, alas, I'm not a fan of a pipe tobacco hint, are these noticeable in that realm?

I sampled legend from HHV and unfortunately was turned off by the pipe tobacco tone....

I surely do love tobacco juice, as ahlusions WW are fantastic.....hence I'm on a search for that smoky tobacco but with cocoa....but not in pipe form?

HHV also has Oompa and Temptation that are choclate based NETs with a low tobacco impact.

Oompa (Purity) - $6.00 : Heather

Temptation (Purity) - $6.00 : Heather

Maybe one of those may work for you.

Hey all-
I haven't run across any tobacco blends with Scotch. I loved my Scotch. Is it because Scotch doesn't blend well with tobacco or is it just scarce?

Thanks

From CigarsInternational: "Davidoff Scottish Mixture pipe tobacco combines select Virginia, Burley, Kentucky and a touch of Oriental tobaccos. These tobaccos are gently seasoned with a hint of Scotch whisky. The result is a very mild, aromatic experience that's pleasant all the way through. When it comes to quality, Davidoff has a stellar reputation. Indeed, this high-end Swiss company has well over 100 years of experience in making ultra-premium cigars and pipe tobacco. In terms of consistency, great blending, and quality control, few do it better than Davidoff."

Anyone can recommend a good NET with cocoa or chocolate (cocoa preferably) undertones that is not to sweet

In addition to the hot chocolate Jerms mentioned, NET.com has a couple of new ones. I have both of them however I have not tried them yet as they are steeping.

'Dat Caramel Brownie in'da Pipe? Is a new custom NET with black cavendish and virginias. I am not a pipe person either however I like black cavendish and virginias. There is a review on the website.

Fresh Ground Mocha Café another new one is also pipe. It has coffee in it though which you may not like and again black cavendish and virginias.

You can read more about them on the NET.com website and then decide for yourself.

Depends on who you ask. I get 80-100mls of extract from an ounce. That's pipe tobacco, if your talking tobacco leaf I would discourage that as they taste terrible.

Can any NET DIY'ers tell me how many ml to expect per oz of raw tobacco leaf or just tobacco used?

Just posted something in the Ahlusion thread, which some might find helpful here as well :

I had sent an email to Ahlusion to ask about their diacetyl and acetyl propionyl testing policy. This afternoon i called to follow up, and ask about the supposed changes to their tobacco line as well. I spoke to a man called Justin at first and then to the sales manager whose name i forget. They tried to answer as best they could but they finally told me that only Wlad could answer my questions in any detail and that they would ask him to respond via email or phone.

This evening Wlad called me and we had a thirty minute chat in which he provided most of the answers i was hoping for.

My Cliffs on what Wlad told me :

- I was satisfied with the steps Wlad told me they are taking re diacetyl and A P testing in both the flavors and finished juices. I haven't seen any discussion on this thread on the issue, so i won't go into it here, but i will write more on this in a different thread discussing the issue.

- The only tobacco flavors that have undergone any changes at all are the Criminals, and even those are not to the formulation. Not sure what he meant tbh but i didn't press him too much on clarification. What i surmised was that some minor adjustment was made to quicken the steeping process.

- When they make a formulation change to a juice, they remove them from the menu, and they come back with either a different name or a change in the description.

- Their non-aromatic tobacco line are not NET's and never were. I told him about the description in the faq section, and he agreed with me that he sees how it might have been misleading. He wasn't too sure about the individual tobacco descriptions but checked them on-line while we were talking, and agreed that those could also be misleading.

- He explained to me that when naming specific tobacco's like Cavendish, Virginia, Turkish etc... what they mean is that they try to produce those flavor notes synthetically, in a lab.

- I asked specifically if any ingredient in their tobacco juice has at any time come into contact with tobacco leaves in any way, shape or form and the clear response was NO. In fact he made it clear that their aromatic and non-aromatic lines were manufactured in completely different parts of the building and the juices had no common ingredients besides pg/vg/nic.

Hope this clarifies some issues.

edit ; he also told me that the discontinuance of the aromatic line had nothing to do with proposed fda regulations, and everything to do with the cost of producing them vs. sales.

Thanks for the info Maz. I'm glad you asked specifically if any tobacco is used in any way and not just 'are they NET'. What confuses me is the reports we've received here, which were reportedly statements made by Wlad, that the non-aros used steam-distilled tobacco flavoring, except Smooth Crim which reportedly was tobacco flavoring made using the same extraction process as the aros (supercritical CO2). Was it a misunderstanding or is/was Wlad being less than 100% truthful?

I'm guessing it's one of those things that will remain a mystery. Pretty odd situation. Looks like we can safely say that for our classification, Ahl doesn't carry any NET or product derived from tobacco leaves. Whether or not the non-aros ever contained steam-distilled tobacco extract, I honestly wouldn't bet any chips either way.

I got my order today from MVJ. The bottles leaked quite a bit during delivery, so the labels on two were almost wiped clean of description. I was able to make out toasted on one, and Sutliff on the other. By process of elimination I knew the other bottle had to be the Dunhill Early Morning. I was a bit surprised at how pale in color this liquids were compared to my NET.com order, and I know Diane says they need a two week steep. However, I had to try one anyways.

I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised upon first exhale. Dunhill is fantastic, smooth and a little more complex than I thought it would be. I might have to sample the others. Diane also sent a 17ml bottle of her RY4 that says it was born in April, I guess that's why it says steeped to perfection on the bottle. Anywho, I can't wait to try it.

I will be a repeat customer.

Yes, i deliberately framed the question in that manner because i remember last month there was some talk of tobacco flavoring vs. tobacco extract, and while i was almost certain what the answer would be, just wanted to make it unequivocal.

OK, is my understanding correct that Ahlusion never sold any natural tobacco retail eliquids, whether using extract that was produced in-house or extract that was out-sourced?

If that's correct, then I vote to have Dusty remove Ahlusion from the Vendor List in post #1 of the thread. Nothing needs to be explained or footnoted. Ahlusion should just vanish from the List.

If that's not correct, would someone please explain in a way that even I can understand?

The aromatic line was NET.

Peraspera posted this in a DNA40 thread..

"My rDNA40 won't be here for awhile so I only could try this on Kanthal but it worked pretty well. I deliberately let the coil get pretty well gunked before testing, much dirtier than a Ni200 is likely to ever get using temp control.

I dunked the coil in a shallow dish with a bit of water in the bottom and swished it around while firing. I changed out the water three or four times and the coil came clean."

This may be a way to clean ni200 when it gunks? I wonder if would benefit coil longevity and possible health risks associated with dry burning Kanthal. I'm going to try it..

I'd forgot about Midnite Lite, which I haven't had but have heard good things about. Can you compare the flavor to Admiral's for me? They sound quite similar in tobaccos and choc+van notes, but if they play different I'd like to order ML some time.

Sorry for the delay;power went out in my neighborhood a few hours ago when I was writing my comparison

To me, AP has a pipe feel to it. Meaning, I can taste the individual tobacco's in a much more pronounced way. For instance, I can pick out the Virginia and Burley; still not to sure what I am looking for with cavendish so guessing that is what the "other" tobacco I am getting from it. Also, the chocolate is there along with the vanilla which gives it complexity. I can pick each one out in the lineup. Oh, the room note is a pipe room note for sure; nice and aromatic.

In comparison, ML has the same tobaccos; they just don't stand out as much. Meaning, it is sometimes difficult to pick them out of the lineup. However, the Virginia is probably the one that comes out to play more often then the others; it is the signature some what earthy note from EV's Virginia's. The Burley is there but more of a supporting role as it is sometimes difficult to detect. I don't really pick up the "other" which I assumed was the cavendish like I did in AP though. Might be part of what gives it the creamy note which really brings this one together. The chocolate is velvety smooth and really blends well with this one. Once in a while I get the vanilla but more often then not I don't. I have to say, this one is a difficult one to explain cause none of the flavors stands out more than the other; it is complex as all heck cause they all blend together to become a definite cigar vape; reads nothing like a pipe to my palate at least. The room note is all cigar as well; real nice though.

To sum it up, these two might have many of the same components to them but they are not the same. AP is all pipe all the time while ML is all cigar. Plus, the tobacco's are less obvious but blended well in ML while I taste the individual ones in AP. Hope that answered your question as I'm really not as talented in describing NET's like some of y'all (but trying). :vapor:

The aromatic line was NET.

One minor issue I could see happen if AHL is removed completely... all of the references within this ( and the original NT ) thread may lead to confusion about what AHL even stands for... perhaps add an honorable mention category noting they no longer carry NET's

Makes sense to me.

Makes sense to me, too.

The change could be simple. Just move the Ahlusion listing to the bottom of the Vendor portion of the List under a new heading of "Honorable Mention," and change the current explanatory text to "Ahlusion (Ahl or A+) – longstanding A-List Vendor that no longer sells retail NETs online."

Excellent comparison, appreciate it! I'll have to try ML.
