I have a question for the cigar aficionados : looking for the most earthy, peaty, oaky, cedar and smoky cigars. Commercials extracts or brand cigars for home-brew extraction.
Something like Muwat Kentucky Fire Cured by Drew Estate...

Well, you could order a MUWAT Fire Cured from Cigar.com. That is going to be a hard one to replicate any other way. The MUWAT KFC uses fire cured Kentucky pipe tobacco in the blend. That gives it a very distinct taste. I don't know of any commercial cigar net that comes close to the same flavor profile.

I don't think I can recall any commercial net using Kentucky Fired Cure tobacco. It is a tobacco that doesn't get the respect it deserves. It is a lot like Latakia's distant Cowboy cousin. It has a nice smoky flavor that is more oak, hickory, and mesquite than Latakia's pine, oak, birch, or burnt tire profile.

Have you tried GeJ's Fire Cured or QnJ's Fire in the Hole? Both are great, smoky NETs. I'm assuming fire cured Burley is used in both, but I don't know what else is in the blends. Reverse steepers that lose the great smokiness after a whike though, especially GeJ's. That ones best vaped up within a couple months of receiving.

I haven't tried either one. I had actually forgotten about them. With over 60 bottles of prepped juice and 20 extracts, I rarely peruse the sites any more.

I think both of those are excellent although i haven't vaped them after a long steep ( i might do that later today ! ). I would throw in N.E.T's Fire Cured Burley and especially Smoked Leaf into that equation as well. I haven't really vaped them one after another to compare, but the Smoked Leaf made the biggest impression on me.

Actually it's what I did, ordered last week, I'll do the extraction soon. I've also ordered whole leaves of Fire Cured Burley, from wholeleaftobacco.com, they are in the jar right now :) Mixed them with air-cured burley and virginia because they are really extra strong on smoky flavor.
Gurkha Warlord makes a nice extract, lots of earth and peat with extra espresso flavor

On the other hand, Acid Cigars are among my favorites

There is also a new NET italian in the market, called Il Vaporificio, Il Moro is my favorite one, guess why ? Made with Fired Cured Kenucky ! A beauty

Has someone any idea what kind of tobacco is used by HOL in his Guevara ?

I can’t believe the number of new eliquids on the NET.com website. I just placed my order that included: Excalibur (I have never had a NET cigar however decided to give is a try), Red White and Blue, Grilled Pineapple, Sour Apple Perique, Golden Apple and Pure Virginia.

I had the pleasure and honor of testing four eliquids for Clay although I do not know what tweaks he made for final production. I liked them all due to their unique flavors.

Sour Apple Perique: There are several varities of red apples and what I tasted was a natural Red Delicious Apple. The Perique added the tartness to make this a sour apple. This is a perfectly balanced blend.

Grilled Pineapple: This one really intriqued me because of the ‘grilled’ flavor trying to determine what Clay used. Was it a tobacco, grilled flavor extract if there is such a thing or Liquid Smoke ? No doubt it was the tobacco that added the right amount of the ‘grilled’ flavor. Absolutely amazing.

Red White and Blue: Great natural blueberry flavor. The Toasted White Burley and Red Virginia complemented this blend to perfection.

The fourth that I tested I believe is the one he now calls Pure Virginia. First time I have had Red Virginia. As far as I am concerned anything Virginia is good by me.

All in all IMO Clay did a great job.

Smokingpipes dot com has a kentucky fire cured for pipe blending. Possibly more than one. I have some of this macerating right now.

Perhaps if you got wrap leafs from a place like leafonly with similar characteristics and did them seperately from the filler tobaccos you could mix the final concentrates to cigar perfection?

Petner's Pipe by River Bottom Fog Sauce (RBFS) available online at www.vapingwatch.com

The Juice: Described on site as, "A Burley and Virginia tobacco blend enveloped in raisins and rum."

The Hardware: Mech with Origen V2 dripper, 1.06 ohm micro coil of 28ga Kanthal, Koh Gen Do wick.

Ratings are from 1-5 depending on where a juice falls in an attributes spectrum. Only the last rating, "overall", is based on 5 being the best. (For sweetness 1 equals very dry and 5 equals very sweet. For tobacco impact 1 equals very mild tobacco and 5 equals very aggressive and/or complex.)

Sweetness: 2.5. Several of RBFS's new NETs are delicious, but require a bit of a sweet tooth to enjoy. Petner's Pipe is one of the exceptions, offering a drier tobacco experience that's lighter on the casings and flavorings. The mild sweetness offered is natural and pleasant.

Tobacco Impact: 4. Burley and Virginia tobaccos make up this blend. For me the Burley makes a stronger presence, offering bulkier woodsy and nutty notes, with Virginia's greener leafy notes being more subtle. Normally I'd prefer the Virginia to dominate, but the way the rum raisin flavor interacts with the Burley notes has me think the person who came up with this pipe blend made the right choice.

Vapability: 5. This is a tobacco heavy aromatic pipe blend that more than satisfies the tobacco itch. I'm often in the mood for a straight-up or lightly flavored, lightly sweet tobacco, and I haven't been disappointed reaching for this yet. No loss of flavor notes during longer vape sessions, always a plus.

Flavor Accuracy: (no score). I'm guessing Petner's Pipe tastes like rum raisin pipe tobacco is suppose to taste like; I haven't had a different vendor's version to compare it to and have never smoked a pipe. It doesn't taste like I expected. No, it's much better than that. I was expecting a sweeter and heavier cased pipe tobacco with obvious rum and raisin. Instead, the rum raisin flavor enhances the tobacco without being separate. There's a meaty, chewy texture that to my guess is from how the raisin and Burley interact, and that flavor-feel raises this from a solid tobacco to something unique and special for me.

Overall: 4.5. Petner's Pipe is another fantastic addition to RBFS's wonderful line of NETs. If you don't fancy the idea of rum and raisin flavored tobacco, don't be scared off from trying this because those flavors aren't obvious here or make for an odd flavor. As mentioned, I find the chewy, meaty quality to be a real treat, and it's overall a very fine pipe tobacco experience. Highly recommended to all pipe NET aficionados.

Interesting.. I found the Virginia's and Burley's roles reversed when I tried it. How old is yours? Mine was at around the 4 month mark when I tried it.

My thoughts: Heady bright Virginia plays at the back of the throat and nasal passages on the exhale and the Burley adds an almost muted nutty note to the vape. I almost, almost detected a slight coconut hint during a couple of the hits but it could be my mind playing tricks on me. I was expecting this to be a sweeter overall vape considering the Rum/Raisin reference, but those flavours don't jump out in an obvious manner. Overall a very nice solid vape that I would not mind re-ordering.. 4 stars

3-4 months old maybe? Not sure, but I've been vaping it since received and like most from RBFS I don't really notice drastic changes during aging.

Funny you notice the Virginia more. It may well be higher in Virginia than my mind reads it, which would explain why I dig it so much lol. Both varieties are well represented, I just feel the Burley more most vape sessions. I'm glad you mentioned that, so others know they may get a heavier Virginia experience than I reported on.

Continuing to vape it, I see how you could interpret coconut at times. My guess is it's from the raisin flavor, as they both are somewhat meaty fruits.

Could just be that my brain tunes out Burley.. I'm definitely more a Virginia person.

Very possible about the coconut too, unless the Rum used is Malibu.. ;)

I'm also reacquainting myself with Patriot, one of my first NET loves thanks to a 10ml sample that Nick sent me. I had forgotten how truly amazing this juice is. I may have to go back and revise my initial impression of 4 stars on my spreadsheet and rate this atleast a 4.5 stars. Natural Perique had stolen the show back when I was a rookie Netter, but I remember Patriot being amazing then, and it surely is just as amazing now.

Is GeJ's sale still on?!

I did a maceration with Hearth & Home Marquee Sweet & Savory. It is Dark Fired Kentucky, Oriental, Perique, and Virginia. So, basically an English with DFK instead of Latakia. That stuff is either #1 or #2 on my list of favorite pipe blends.

I think the sale is over already according to posts in the GoodeJuice thread.

I spent today with Patriot in one tank and Dunhill Nightcap in another. Shadows and Light as Joni Mitchell would say. Both lovely.

I got several from Diane when she frst opened. Country Squire, Wicked Wench and some other whose names escape me right now. CS was the only one I liked so I can't really speak for the others.

Thanks, I'll do that, is it your experience that most of MVJ/Diane's NETs continue to change with steep time?

Diane's newer juices are nothing like her first ones... the original ones were mostly monotoned in flavor. The newer ones have more complex flavors but they are also a bit lighter in flavor which accounts for them not gunking as much also. They also do much better after steeping longer.

I've been spending time with her re-released 5 Vegas Cask and La Perla Habana as well as new ones like Sir Walter Raleigh. There is much more flavor in the juice now.
