Well said. This is great advice for a newbie trying NETs.
.......
All as a minimum. They only start getting good after these dates and then they are fantastic. As Jerms said, try them until they taste good. Don't give up on a liquid that is tasteless, especially when the general feedback varies greatly to your personal experience. It usually means they just need steeping.

I've learned quite a bit about this "subculture" we have among the vape world overall, thanks to you guys. Yeah while I didn't give N.E.T.com's liquids much of a chance at first, and unfortunately wasted about half of my big sample pack, I did re-order Big Spirit, 30 mls, just to let it sit for a month or so before even touching it. I learned my lesson! I'm enjoying, currently, Perique and Wild Turkey from GeJ, which had no taste at all at first but thankfully I realized in time to let steep for a month and now they are both full of flavor.

I'm hoping Big Spirit will give me what I love about tobacco and what Ive been looking for in a NET vape...basically a basic, mild tobacco flavor, much like the "raisin" notes you pick up from certain blends.

Speaking of steeping, there's things that can be done to speed it up. Juice needs to be exposed to air before it starts steeping, so open the bottle right when you get it for a few minutes. After closing shake hard for a good 20 seconds or longer. If they are in glass bottles you may want to open them for a few minutes every day for a week or so before shaking.

Whether you continue to expose them to air or not, be sure to shake your bottles every day for a week. Give them a really good shaking, like a red headed stepchild. This will quite drastically speed up the steep time. Also shake very well before using every time.

Some people use warm water baths, ultrasonic cleaners, etc., to speed steep but I've never went that route. I always let time do the heavy lifting, but I do make sure to shake the juices a lot these days.

Here's part of the second email from Brian, after I asked him about DWiT. I'll copy the previous email next post.

"Yes, please share that info, and let them know I'm releasing a new line (there is a NET in there), and I actually have a couple more lines in the works. H.P.'s will offer 50/50 and Max VG.

As for DWIT, every time I create a batch of extracts I seem to find a way to improve something."

I've spent the last 6 months tearing my business apart, and putting it back together bigger and better. 1st off, I just moved into my new facility that is 10x bigger than my old one. 2nd, there will be no more exclusivity contracts for this guy; any B&M that carries RBFS will be able to sell it on their website. Prices will also be lowered a bit. We are working very hard to not have any down time for the availability of my Sauce.

Funny thing about your statement that you may stray from NETs because you've acquired a taste for custards... I'm premiering a new line this weekend at VapeXpo in Ann Arbor, MI. The name of the line is H.P.'s Miska-Tonics, and they are all inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. 3 are custards: Peppered-Orange Custard, Blueberry Lavender Custard and Bourbon-Barrel-Aged-Madagascar-Vanilla Custard. One is a tobacco (I had to do at least one!), but an oddball: Rum, Plum and Fig Pipe Tobacco. Then there is a Clove Blend trying to mimic a Djarum Black.

I'm hoping to have both lines on at least one website by the end of the month.

Take it easy,
Brian

Black Note Adagio: A Review

The Copy: From their website: Adagio offers the uniquely sweet, mildly spicy, aromatic flavor of Havana tobacco, complemented by rich, smoky undertones to create a flavor that’s recognized around the globe. Grown for centuries in Cuba’s moist, tropical climate, Havana is regarded as one of the world’s most flavorful tobaccos.

The Rig: Zen ZNA30; Nautilus Mini, 1.7 ohm BVC; 13 watts
The Juice: Black Note Adagio, 18mg/ml nicotine, 50/50 PG/VG
The Price: $29 U.S./30ml all shipping included ($0.97/ml)

The Verdict: The description above is quite accurate. Adagio is clearly a NET and a good one at that. If you've had a juice with Havanas in it, you know what to expect. Adagio is as good a representative of that as there is. However, I name this section The Verdict for a reason...and here it is. There is nothing in Adagio that makes it a special snowflake among the NET brands you already know well, such as N-E-Tcom, MVJ, and others. And nothing, in my opinion, that warrants its price point. Black Note is clearly positioning itself as the Five Pawns of NETs. That's easily seen in their web site, copywriting, and marketing stance - you can even mail back 5 of their packing tubes to them (mailer supplied) and they will recycle them and send you a free 30ml of your preference. And you get "points" for each purchase, and more points for each review you post on their website. All very nice, Green, appealing and full of warm-hearted yummy goodness...and I'm sure they're nice people, too. Don't get me wrong - the juice is good. It's just not $29 good. Not with folks like Clay (N-E-Tcom) and Diane (MVJ) creating easily equivalent products at noticeably lower price points. From where I sit, Black Note is a splurge NET vendor - one of those, ok, I want to feel upscale illusionary moments. No harm in an indulgence from time to time. As always, taste is subjective, opinions are plentiful, the Devil abides in the details, and Hell exists in the fine print.

Best regards,

As a small example and since we're waiting word on RBFS I'm finishing off a bottle of Porch Rocker that I got in October. It was good getting here but man, it's fully grown up and very rich.

I've got a tonne of RBFS from around October. It's now in the fridge as I expect it will take me a while to vape but I can vouch on RBFS liquids vaping well after 6 months.

Been reading up on the various types and flavor profiles of the different major tobaccos, and I think I'm going to be happy with Big Spirit when it matures. Having tried GeJ's Turkish and enjoying it but finding its missing something (or is adding too much of something) and reading up on virginia and burley...i'm thinking my next order from N.E.T. will be air cured burley with flue cured virginia mixed with some of their turkish (or GeJ's). It's a journey and money spent but I'm getting there.

I vape primarily tobacco flavors, so when I found the
N-E-T line I thought the search was over for great tobacco flavors...the flavors weren't bad but these liquids severly fouled the coils in my Kayfuns in less than half a nano tankful and was completely unvapable, even with long lasting rayon builds.

I primarily drip and switch flavors often so I'm pulling the cotton, dry burning and refilling. So gunk hadn't been an issue. However I usually keep my kayfun filled with something from net.com. Gunk hadn't been a huge issue there either. When you guys mention gunk, is it a taste thing or like the previous post, an actual functional thing? I'm not a terribly experienced NET vape-r... And I really had only used net.com s product. Ahlusion too but now I can't recall if the smooth criminal & just criminal are NETs. I fell off the scene here a while back.

Taste is the first indicator of a gunky coil. Some people tolerate the altered flavor longer on the coil as it begins to gunk, but eventually there will be enough gunk that hot spots and burning crud makes continued vaping impossible.

I've always cleaned my coil at early signs of gunking, when I start to notice the change in flavor. I just don't like the taste coming off of an unclean coil, and its possible vaping on a gunked coil is unhealthy.

All juice gunks, even unflavored will eventually gunk a coil, but how fast that happens varies dramatically between juices. NETs, containing organic matter and often sugars, tend to gunk much quicker than non-NETs and range from kind of dirty to extremely dirty.

Like all things related to vaping, the gunking effect varies greatly between people based on a number of factors. Some things that affect speed of gunking could be; coil build, wicking material and how it's prepped, the persons vaping style, how much heat is coming off the coil, airflow, and I'm sure many other things.

If someone is experiencing much quicker gunking than others with the same juice, the first things to look at would be coil and wick set-up or if they are overheating the coil.

Thanks very much for that explanation.

I think I've been lucky because I change juice, the cotton and dry burn often. But I guess I am not going to be able to use my Arctic tank w nets, eh? Or at least of i dint want to run through my pre-made coils too fast.

Some people here have had good luck vaping NETs in tanks with changeable heads. I think a big key to slow down gunking in tanks is good juice flow. Gunk forms quicker if the wick in the coil is a little dry because a dryer coil will get much hotter, causing the carbon build-up that we call gunk to form.

With drippers it's much easier to keep the wick fully saturated. With tanks you need to make sure the juice flow can keep up to your vaping style and setup.

With drippers I also change the wick and dry burn fairly often because it's quick and easy, usually before there's much visible gunk. I own a bunch of drippers and I rewick them all at once. That way when the flavor is off I just rinse and set it aside, and grab a new dripper. When I've used them all, between 1-3 weeks, they all get dry burned and rewicked.

RBFS Dagwood's Wife: A nice vape...Im sure its spot on to that type of cigar. The cigar itself is not my cup of tea I guess, so this wasn't. Very grassy, unique flavor that wasn't jiving with me totally, but not bad.
My first experience with DWiT, thought it was terrible as it was like a high pitch screech that kinda made my eyes squint (if that makes any sense). The juice was gifted to me and well aged so that was not the problem. Well a week went by and I got brave and put more in a tank (was using tanks at that time). I got half through the tank and started liking it. A few days later did the same thing and noticed I really liked it. Once I got through that initial shock of the juice, it grew on me. Now it is my favorite from them.

Yep. ACID cigars extractions have a very weird/unique flavor. Like how it often is with unique foods like sushi, first time can be very off putting. Many of my favorite vapes were quite challenging at first. Many that I loved immediately became boring rather quickly.
