In the aftermath of bearing the bad news about Ahlusion's aros, I do have something great to report!
I have been lurking on this thread for over a year. I speak up now and then (not always with good news I guess) and am intrigued with all this home extraction being done. My problem - I haven't a clue what the different tobaccos taste like and what I might like should I make my own attempt! Yes, I have had a few commercial NETs, some better than others, but not really enough knowledge or experience to select a flavor to extract. I do know from experience I love a good Black Cavendish - and I tend to like slightly sweet, not too sweet, tobaccos.
I saw Johni's post offering samples of his extracts, so I PMed him. I hesitated because I have nothing to trade back. We went back and forth with what he has, what I have liked, etc. I admitted I would most like to advance my knowledge of the different tobaccos so I can get an idea of what I would like to attempt to extract.
Monday I received 5 bottles from Johni (THANKS Johni!!!!). Missouri to Florida in 2 days over a holiday weekend!! Sutliff ZBC-245 (for my Black Cavendish fix), Pipes and Cigars Blending Perique (I had mentioned I think I don't like perique but would love to see what it really tastes like), Mac Baren Danish Burley (for my burley education), Milan French Vanilla (I love a good vanilla tobacco) and Milan Honey Smoke (OMG!!!no honey please - Johni assured me it does not taste like honey, just a sweeter blend).
Yesterday I mixed up 10 ml bottles of each. I do have NIC, PG and VG and do a little dabbling in DIY (gotta prepare for the Vapeopolipse should it come about). And lots of bottles! I mixed each at 50/50, 6mg, 20% extract. I know these need steeping but today the curiosity got the better of me!
Black Cavendish - I love a good black cavendish! This is good now, it's just gonna get better with steeping. Sweet but not too sweet. Just good tobacco!
Perique - will need to spend more time with this, but I do NOT find it offensive as I did the "commercial" net I tried that was billed as perique.
Danish Burley - I get it! Not sweet, kind of a grassy, smoky flavor. per the description with a little twist "A real
vaping pleasure.
French Vanilla - oh this is gonna be great!! Subtle flavor with only 24 hours steep time, but I can't wait to see how this develops. The vanilla is just a hint; enough to round out and add to the flavor. A sweetness I really like.
Honey Smoke - Holy Smoke! No honey at all (thank goodness), I think it is sweeter than the others. Description says coconut, but I don't detect any at this point. Just another very pleasant, slightly sweet vape.
All need more steeping. And more time. I just got out all my RDAs (an Igo-L, a V5, a little Patriot clone, and my brand spankin' new tobh clone). I have some more EVODs coming any day (FT, yea.... but they shipped!) and I will be rebuilding coils and spending time with each in it's own personal little tank.
Can't thank Johni enough for the opportunity to try these extractions. Great job! I may hit a few more of you up for a sample or two...
