Just Criminal from Ahl, as I figured, is very good. As expected it's Smooth Criminal with a good dose of chocolate. The chocolate is well balanced, not too sweet or strong and doesn't overshadow the tobacco. It'll be easy to vape this up in a short time. Like with Peachy Criminal though, as good as the flavored Criminals are I still prefer my mine straight up Smooth.

Me too, although I love Peachy C a lot. The chocolate is just okay for me -- not a reorder at all.

I absolutely agree! I thought i would love PC, but alas, my bottle is still rather full!

I'm a little confused on what produces throat hit when it comes to NETs. I have some NETs at 50/50 PG/VG from other vendors that are light on the throat, whereas some MVJ 40/60 NETs make me feel like someone kicked me in the throat. What gives? I thought more PG = more throat hit.

I'm not a fan of too much of a throat hit as I have a sensitive throat and enjoy the long lung inhales.

PG does add to throat hit... it's just not all there is to it, the flavor itself also plays it's own role as does the power ( wattage ) setting, the type of coils/wicks and airflow among other things. Just because you read that one factor has a certain attribute like throat hit, doesn't mean there aren't other ones in play as well.

In fact... if you build your own coils and use an RDA... just where you place the coil in relation to the air hole will increase/decrease TH even if you change nothing else in the equation.

PG and VG by itself doesn't produce any throat hit. Both vaped straight up provides zero throat hit and almost undetectable flavor. TH is provided almost purely by the nicotine. VG can have the effect of softening the TH, but it's not a concrete statement that higher VG equals less TH (though often that's the case). I've had all VG juices with just as much TH as high PG juices. Why some high VG juices have less TH I have no idea.

So nic provides the hit, but there are many brands of concentrated nic a vendor can choose from, and some brands provide more kick than others. Another factor is how the nic interacts with the flavorings and solvents used to make the juice, but in my experience that effect is very small. There's also additives that can be used to enhance TH, but I don't think they're very commonly used in nic juice.

You're right, I forgot to mention that all juices that I vape are 6mg nic, so there shouldn't be any variance there. My trials were across the same RDA with the same coils too. Could the extraction process itself produce different TH? Heated PG/VG macerations vs. alcohol extracts?

As I mentioned, different brands of nic provide different TH, so I think the biggest variable is what brand of nic a vendor uses. That's assuming they're mixing at the exact level that they sell at. I'm not sure if some vendors are less accurate than others at providing the exact mg level. I used to think many weren't accurate because the same mg level varies so much vendor to vendor, but now my guess it has more to do with the brand of nic used.

As far as TH of NETs compared to non-NETs, I haven't noticed that being a factor. I also haven't noticed a vendor's extraction method being a factor in TH.

I can't agree. I have no clue what controls throat hit. I can say that I have Vechio and VWW both at 12mg and 70/30 and the TH of Vechio makes it almost unvapeable for me. With the VWW, TH is nearly non-existant. As an aside, I'm not as into vanilla as I thought I'd be.

Might have been a mixing mistake, I haven't heard anyone mentioned VWW having less TH. I can't imagine adding a flavoring to 12mg base would make the TH disappear.

I had a Mini PT3 filled with Johni's Louisiana Red this morning. So, I sat it next to my glass of sweet tea. The colors were nearly a precise match. I decided to vape it on the back steps with my glass of tea since it is a cool morning.

I then decided to jump from Johni's to MVJ's Brazilia. Not so much of a sir now. I don't think you could jump much further from one end of the spectrum to another. The Brazilia is tasting great though. It has a nice dry tobacco taste with a hint of the maduro poking out. Over all I would rate this a successful morning of vaping.

I had previously had Vurley and I just don't care for A+ Burley base (although it wasn't a TH issue). A+ and I had a discussion and I was informed that the vanillas (and tobacco bases?-that's another story) used are different and we touched on TH. As TH is a major issue for me, I ordered Vechio and VWW with the specific intent of comparison. This intent was stated in the comments when I ordered. I'd be very disappointed if A+ made a mixing mistake. I guess it is possible, but A+ isn't known as a sloppy vendor.
I always order juice at 12mg and at high VG and it has been my experience that between vendors and within vendors TH can vary greatly depending on flavoring.
I appreciate your view that the nic concentrates used can have different TH kicks, but if, as you say TH is solely a result of nic, is it your contention that some nic concentrate vendors are labeling a concentrate as 6mg when it actually contains 14mg? It seems more likely to me that it is some difference in the carrier used than in the nic level.

Although on the fence, I like it way better than VB. :) Which reminds me, I gotta take the car in for an oil change.

Edit: wrote PG and meant VG--corrected.

MVJ now has a line of Davidoff pipe tobaccos up and Ashton Rainy Day. Now I've got a few more I definitely want to try out. The Davidoff Flake Medallions and Scotch mixture seem very promising.

 Other than the initial taste test, I haven't used any of my MVJ stock yet. Would it be wrong to order more?! :D

It is never wrong to order from MVJ. If you like the strength and presence (if you ever tried) of Johni's Cigar extracts you should like MVJ pipes. After a two month steep they are completely different creatures. I would say order some, steep for two months, and then finish off the bottle in under ten months from the date of mixing.

Rinse and Repeat

The best analog I ever had in my brief smoking stints over the last 25 years was the filterless Turkish Special. It was oval shaped, and just about as smooth as an analog could get. Any NET that is a Turkish (or Turkish-ish) extract always ends up in my shopping cart.

Anybody else ever try these in your pre-vaping days?
