Got home to vape mail tonight from a trade with Vicman. Three from RealTobaccoExtracts. Turkish, which I'm excited about because it's a Turkish blend. English, which I'm exited about because it's a straight-up Virginia. And Cowboy, a Virginia Burley blend I'm excited about because the great reports so far here.

These are going straight to storage until their turn, so wasn't in any hurry to open the box.. until.. I remembered there's Boba's Bounty included that Vic wasn't too keen on! Tore that baby open and loaded it into my Veritas. Yep.. still delicious!

I have a lot of 4's and 4.5's which in my mind are clear winners. I just have difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that anything can be that perfect that it warrants a 5 star rating.

Not being picky but rather just practical. ;)

I think there can be. There is a certain threshold that is reached (in any discipline or market) where improvement is not really possible. Just different. I am sure I am not really explaining that well at all...
I mean like in music maybe... You can have some song that has achieved perfection. Let's say Pink Floyd's "Time." Other songs can be just as good. Just because they came out after or that you have listened to them later doesn't mean that the one that is newest to you is better. To take away from "perfection" there would have to be a flaw. It's not competition where a finite number of contestants are competing for a gold medal and you are giving a 9/10 just in case someone does something better.
With ejuice and other things that people enjoy where there is no end-game it is perfectly acceptable to rate something you find no flaws with as a five star.

Glad you like Boba's, felt bad for not liking it after going through my order getting lost in the mail for a month in January. AVE sent a new order out and it was delivered to me in a couple days; two days later, my original order showed up. Wish I liked it cause they have real good customer service.

On a NET note, I tried the Cocoa Blend and Smokin Cherries from our trade. The Cocoa Blend is pretty darn good; the cocoa is not what I was expecting but it is smooth nonetheless. I can only vape it for a few fills on the Magma (new, awesome, yet powerful RDA came in Weds night...yay me) cause it is kinda rich; chocolate type vapes all are the same for me, can only take em in moderation cause the chocolate richness gets to me after a while. Definitely a good desert vape though. The SC on the other hand surprised me. I kinda like the cough drop-like flavor of the cherry. Another thing, the cherry seems to go from cough drop back to a real good cherry within a few vapes. I don't get it but it's kinda fun to taste the change happen when the juice warms up. Like I said, it surprised me cause I was not expecting to like it from a few things I seen posted about it. Thanks!

Awesome! Trade worked out well for us both.

Worked great. Got to try a few I wanted to try and liked them. Plus, I had already ordered a few more Cowboy and Turkish cause I liked them and can vape them all day, even when I get that occasional vape tongue happen. Hope you like them as well.

Then you haven't tried NET.com's Uncle BJ's Blackberry Burley. The only way to make that more perfect would be to have Clay in my kitchen, mixing it up at my command.:laugh::laugh::vapor:

This. Exactly this. Smooth fire-cured Burley on the inhale, a touch of blackberry on the exhale.

It's definitely not oversaturated with blackberry, unless of course, you order it with extra.

The fire-cured Burley lends a nice smokey component that isn't overpowering, and it kinda intermingles to the point that you really don't want to even consider messing with the balance.

That's the one juice besides Bombay that I actually have a 60ml bottle of. (I do have a large bottle of MvJ's Captain Black Royal; 60% empty at this point.)

It's (the Blackberry Burley) actually the only juice I have loaded into a 3ml tank.

Everything else rotates or franken-juices (though I prefer just saying, "Hey, let's mix these two things together and see what happens"!) on a regular basis.

It's really neat seeing how polar opposites can attract in the NET world. It's also, a lot of the time, surprising.

Autocorrect, I'm assuming? Unless of course, you have a super-secret potato that only faces forward and takes pictures too?? Sorry, that just tickled me beyond what I should even admit here. I'm still laughing, visualizing Mr. Potato-Head taking all of your photos.

In regards to the potato.... that's classified. :2cool:

:lol::lol:

...j/k; It was actually a reference to the quality of the camera.

To use it as I first heard it, "What did you take that picture with, a potato?" or in reference to video, "Was this recorded on a potato"?

Apologies if I inadvertently used an obscure reference to address my camera's quality (the netbook has much better quality, but rarely gets used), but I'm glad you got a laugh out of it. :D

Dusty: request a sample of the Blackberry Burley with your next order.

Though, you might find yourself regretting you only got a sample bottle. :p

If you want them quick try Stormy's. Price is high but they're in the States and ship quick.

Also DiscountVapers

I'm not sure what options they have available above priority mail, but priority was there the last time I ordered (um....before I started rebuilding coils...when was that?) but they're decently priced and legit.

Well, people do rate wines and such, though I've never really seen tobacco rated on a points-based system. It's generally the reviewer's individual taste that seems to go into such descriptions.

It seems only fair to give NETs the same treatment, because taste is subjective.... even for wines.

Though there's a big difference between Mogen David and Yellow Tail, some may prefer one over the other.

Same goes for beers; some people might like Old English or Steel Reserve (this is not entirely fair because those are malt liquors, so let's even give Icehouse some consideration here), while others prefer Newcastle, Harp, Guinness, Sam Adams, ect.

Quality, for me personally, is based on enjoyability (how much do I like this juice?), individuality (how many other 'clones' of said juice exist and where did it originally gain it's inspiration from. Is this iteration different, and if so, how?), vapeability (can I vape this all day, or do I just want a little bit every once in a while? If it's the latter, then it's generally too rich or sweet and I just avoid frequent re-orders or just avoid the juice all together), gunk factor (how long in-between the first fill to a fresh coil/wick to needing to re-wick and/or dry-burn?), and smoothness (does it have flavor kick, while still not being rough enough to have to put down [nicotine is excluded, because we all know what vaping too much does] after a few puffs?).

Being that all these factors form to combine my ultimate opinion of a juice, a simple ratings scale is generally useless for me; it's just too complex to base my individual needs and tastes on, as I have found from ordering juices based on hype.

Now, I can see an individual aspect-covering iteration of these factors being used to personally describe a juice as being functional, but honestly: I think a tier-system covering the overall 'quality' of the vendors and a general description of why they are a quality vendor works best. When I originally saw NETCOM's & MvJ's descriptions, I was highly drawn to them. The rest of me simply kinda evaluated all of these other points to determine what I did/didn't like.

So far, NETCOM has knocked the ball out of the park; again, this is me, personally. Others may prefer any number of other vendors, so my giving them, as an example, 90/100 would be rather pointless- however, describing the individual flavors, nuances, and characteristics of a juice is much more on par with a classical wine-tasting. Some folks may get flavor notes others may not, others will experience greater or lesser gunking based on equipment, and so on.

This is moreso the equivalent of a wine glass that would alter the flavor of the wine you put into it, or the difference between martinis and how different people prefer different iterations. Alternatively, whether a beer is best enjoyed warm, or in an ice-cold frosted mug; perhaps somewhere inbetween?

Beer, or even soda; Cans, or bottles? Domestic, or imported? This will be a continually individualized preference, but again these are just examples, yet are different ways of how enjoying the exact same thing are expressed and acted on differently by every individual.

Each of us has our own individualized tastes that will contribute greatly to how we perceive and enjoy a given e-liquid. In fact, this is likely a contributing factor to why some folks have taken to homebrewing their own liquids: perhaps it's to find that elusive one liquid they've been looking for that they really enjoy, or maybe they're just looking for something that simply isn't offered somewhere else.

Of course, these are just examples. Your opinion-and mileage-may, and likely will vary on an individual basis.

(Of note, the point-system for wines is rather controversial. Every person experiences everything differently. We only see rainbows from a certain angle, at others they are simply not visible.)

Sure do, loved it since I've first tried it a couple years back. My favorite TINO.

I agree with Jerms. To me, Boba's is one of the best mystery TINOs of all time. That said, I'm down to about 15ml remaining in the 100ml bottle I ordered 10 months ago, and I probably won't order more.

In fact, I went through some of my drawers of synthetic tobacco retail juices today and started a serious purge. I got rid of 50 juices, most of which are 2-3 years old, and ended up with an empty gallon milk jug one-third filled with juice that I'll never vape and don't want. Sure, I could have PIF'd it to some impoverished vaper in Bangladesh (or Pittsburgh, LOL), but that's way more trouble than I want to take on, especially for juices that were lousy to start with. Took literally three hours to update my juices database (changing quantities from "1" to "0"), remove the labels with the help of naphtha, and wash out the bottles/drippertops/droppers/caps, but the good news is that I now have 50 more empty bottles ranging from 3ml to 30ml to make DIY juice and share extracts. I'll do it again tomorrow, adding more to that gallon milk jug, which will go into the toxic liquids recycling at some point. Eventually I'd like to get my juice dungeon down to a manageable 2 liters or so.

what's a TINO? that one doesn't pop with the auto-definition link.
Google search just returns a bunch of guys named Tino working at vape shops lol

TINO: Tobacco In Name Only, meaning a juice that supposedly contains tobacco flavoring---usually synthetic, but natural tobacco extract flavoring could also apply---whose recipe includes non-tobacco flavorings (often bakery flavors) that effectively overwhelm or bury the tobacco in the flavor profile. Another example of a well-known TINO would be Bounty Hunter from NightLifeVapor, but many, many retail juices qualify as TINOs. Some TINOs are very popular and quite delicious, such as Boba's Bounty from AlienVisions and Deadly Sin from GoodLifeVapor.

The acronym was first coined on this thread a couple years ago, inspired initially, if I recall correctly, by HHV hybrid NETs. I don't remember who came up with it---might have been Mr.Mann or even Jerms himself. A similar designation frequently used on the thread is "small-font tobacco."

For awhile, posts on Part One of this thread used so many acronyms for juice names, vendors, and designations that you needed a Natural Tobacco Thread Acronym Dictionary to decode them all. Nobody knew what the hell anyone was talking about... LOL. These days that's down to a low background roar.
