My Magma has landed! I haven't rebuilt anything in a long time so I was happy to attach the supplied wick and coil which appears to be a 5 wrap 30 gauge nichrome wire. It registered 3 ohms. It was before bed so I thought What the heck, it will do. I made sure to use the setting that blocks off the airhole on the other side of the coil.

I loaded it up with 3 Crown from NET.com, a juice that is complex but needs the right device to get the most out of the juices subtle nuances.

It certainly tasted great but I am not sure I could taste the juice to its fullest potential. Perhaps it was the supplied wick and coil or maybe the cause had to do with tiredness.

Despite not being entirely blown away by the flavor at first instance, I was very impressed by the draw at the various settings, particularly the smallest 1mm airhole.

The throat hit is intense and it had me thinking I really should have dropped my nicotine done from 18 mgs to 12 or even 9 mg sometime ago.

Wonderful dripper and so easy to set up. I look forward to experimenting with it some more in coming days.

The potential of the Magma is limitless, Anthony. You really want to at some point try it with a dual coil in the .7 - .8 ohm range. Drastically low nic at that level though. ;)

Have I missed your review of the RBFS juices? I've been going through some of them in the last few days and loving whatever I've grabbed thus far.

As Dusty mentioned, the Magma is great on various builds. Everyone has their own preferences. My own being a single coil 26awg 0.8 ohm macro coil. My macro coil isn't a 3mm, more like a 2.5mm. I vape on a regulated device at around 17-18watts and I find that the flavor can some times get so intense that I get vapor's tongue for 30 minutes to an hour after vaping on it.

In short, play around with it a bit and see what suits you. It isn't like the Veritas where finding that one build that works for you is like pulling teeth.

Hmm.. that's one I didn't test yet. 26g.. I didn't much care for it on the KFL's but I wonder if I would like it on the Magma like you do.

Well, only one way to find out. Build number 24743 coming right up. 26g around 3/32 mandrel.

I'm looking at around 6/7 wraps to get to .8 .. HOT HOT HOT!!

Diacetyl and NET's

I know the diacetyl issue has been discussed ad nauseum and i am not personally too concerned, but i was listening to a podcast re diacetyl in general and suicide bunny in particular, and an interesting tidbit came up re hybrid NETs.

Summary :

When Dr. Farsalinos was running some tests on NET's on issues unrelated to diacetyl, he was surprised to find that some NET's also have diacetyl. The owner of MOV called the show and confirmed that one of those NET's was theirs and the culprit was caramel. They immediately tested all their juices and found that twenty five percent of the 67 juices they had at the time contained diacetyl, even though all five flavor houses they bought their flavoring from had told them that their products do not contain diacetyl. They pulled all juices containing diacetyl off the shelves, some permanently and others were re-formulated.

I was very impressed with the level of transparency at MOV. He even offered to give results of the lab report on all their juices to the podcaster. Apparently Five Pawns, Space Jam and Baker White did as well, but Suicide Bunny was being very evasive and at some point stopped responding to inquiries.

I have never bought any non-tobacco from MOV but will be looking at their line-up a little more closely now. I think i will be throwing some money at AEMSA vendors out of principle. They all test their finished product and get certificates from independent labs, rather than rely on the word of the flavor houses.

Yeah, this happened last year if I remember correctly, and resulted in their Full Virginia Flake RY4 getting re-formulated. Love that Steve was upfront about the testing and did what needed done. I remember sending him an email about it when they first disclosed that information.

Hiya,Dusty. You talked me into trying HHV.

Give it a shot! If you don't like them, I'll take them off your hands. ;)

Suggestions were,Huntsman,Dark Horse,Gaia,Legend and Pirates Booty as not being too sweet.

Context, always context. They are not too sweet compared to regular sweet juices. Compared to mainstream mid-strong NETs, they would be on the sweeter side. Example: A non-NET custard juice that I'm vaping from a local vendor is almost cloyingly sweet compared to any HHV NET that I own. :)

Legend and Serendipity were my two favorites from HHV... certainly one or the other is something I'd recommend trying but I did find it naturally sweet. Both are from the same tobacco source but end up tasting different... trying one would tell you if the other is worth a try also.

Huntsman and Dark Horse were also very nice and they are less sweet... dryish even... again good choices.

A lot of folks enjoyed Pirates Booty ... just wasn't one of mine but enough people enjoyed it to not worry.

I don't think Gaia was around at the point... I know I didn't try it.

Gaia is my number one vape from HHV at this time. Surpassed even Huntsman in the standings. Get some!

Sandman, I decided to go with 7/8 wraps for a .9'ish ohm coil instead of the .8. Hitting beautifully on the Panzer with RBFS' Count Caramel.

i-6Bvw6sv-L.jpg

As usual, your ability to do this by hand scares me a little.

It does help seeing where to position the coil over the airflow hole, though, and how much loss there is output based on the length of the legs leading to the contact points.

What would you guesstimate the distance of the legs leading to the coil?

around the 1:40 mark

that's an hour and forty minutes, not a minute and forty seconds !

So 01:01:40 :p

Haven't listened to it yet, but I'm assuming there's a reason they're called "Suicide Bunny"....

....just sayin'. Will give it a listen later on. Work to do right now.
