I probably shouldn't be posting my initial impressions till i have more time with it, but oh well. I'm glad i didnt buy the real thing for $150+ cause im not 100% sold on the concept. I really like the elevated coil and center air but i find myself wishing i could tell how much juice is in the inner well, which is impossible to do. You sort of have to go on faith or by taste and i dont like to wait until i can taste dryness. the other issue i have is that you cant get at the coil until the tanks empty. This issue is minimal, but with a protank/BCC i can swap out a wick, coil,or head in the middle of a tank if i wanted to. The flavor/vapor production are very good; as good as my a7mini or a rebuilt BCC, but i dont think its any better. I also prefer the throat hit more in a dripper or BCC. Im not getting as much thoat hit in the kayfun. obviously more testing is required.

My first coil was somewhere around 10 wraps of 28ga. It's running at 1.2ohms and performing quite well. TH might be a wire thing. I'll try 30ga at some point.

Thanks! Kayfun (and the clone) is supposed to produce flavors as good as drippers, right? And your first impression about flavor with this clone is OK, but not great?

Yes agreed but 99.9% of the people referring to a "3.1 clone" are not talking about a russian. They are talking about a counterfeit 3.1 from china. I have no issues with buying counterfeit, but thats a whole nother thread and really not worth debating.

Agreed, not worth debating at this time, but definitely important to understand the difference.

No the flavor is certainly great, not just good. Im only saying its not any better than what ive currently been experiencing flavor wise.

It's also big. That mech is in 18650 mode. Kafun on a vamo is a freakin light saber.

Hey no problems, I enjoyed everything you recommended, except Analog :) So that's like 9 in 10, not bad at all :)

I don't mind the sweetness but it tastes like Aspartame went wild or something very chemically like that to me. Maybe I hit a bad batch?

I will let it steep little bit more and see. Indeed, it did get better and mellower after 2-3 weeks for me.

Should check out the Goodejuice sub-forum before Monday ;)

Representing, the latest in The TINO Diaries..

TINO stands for "tobacco in name only". Often used as an insult to tobaccos that don't taste like tobacco, but for me it's a term of endearment for a select group of juices that share certain qualities. They are usually bakery/dessert vapes that, while categorized as a tobacco by a vendor, actually taste nothing at all lke tobacco. That is subjective, what's a TINO to me might be described as tasting like tobacco to others, but if I call it a TINO I don't taste anything resembling tobacco without majorly stretching my imagination. My favorite TINO juices are Boba's Bounty, Dorky Stud, Gold, and Bounty Hunter.

Ok, after that lengthy intro, I'd like to present my latest TINO crush, Banyan Tree by TheVapeTree. Many TINOs are very strongly flavored, have hard to peg flavors that people describe differently, are often bakery in nature and often are very sweet. BT fits right in, and like the best TINOs, while I'm not sure exactly what I'm tasting, tobacco is about the last thing that comes to mind. One thing I'm sure of is coconut, which is a dominant flavor here and makes BT a unique entry in TINO land. The rest is bakery notes that are vague enough to make many guesses believable; vanilla, fig, caramel, honey, bread, cake, cookie, maple, chocolate, butterscotch, nougat..... sure, why not. More importantly, it tastes really good.

Banyan Tree is sold in a couple variations such as Cherry and Banana. There's also Banyan Brother, which I guess is different than BT but also uniquely complex. One thing interesting is that TheVapeTree doesn't explicitly state it's a tobacco juice like other vendor's sell a TINO. Instead, the description is much more accurate and really describes all my beloved TINO vapes as " A rich deep flavor that is a real mystery. Maybe bakery, maybe tobacco, this juice was developed for its complexity and uniqueness." For each juice TVT has their logo of a tree with a picture of the flavor; tobacco leaf for tobacco, peach or peach, etc., but for BT the logo is fittingly a "?".

Jerms,

I totally agree with your take on TINOs and your list---BB, Gold, BH. I haven't tried either Dorky Stud or Banyan Tree, but I'll add another to your list: Deadly Sin from GoodLifeVapor, a sterling entry in the long line of bakery/dessert mystery TINOs. I've been having a love affair with Deadly Sin for the past three months with no signs of burn-out yet. I can taste the synthetic tobacco in it, but just barely. Deadly Sin is mostly a herd of different bakery/dessert horses running wild.

Thanks for the recommendation Bill. I recently placed GLF on my list of vendors to try, as I've heard lots of good about them. Haven't looked into what to get yet, so Deadly Sin added. If I remember right, their El Kamino is also highly recommended, have you had that one?

Off-topic, but probably permitted here among friends:

Yes, I have El Kamino.

I bought four juices from GoodLifeVapor during their Grand Opening Sale in late 2012. I liked two of those a lot---Montecristo Cigar and Sesame Sweetbread (both of which quickly vanished from the GLV juice line-up, but, when I went back to order more two months later and found that neither had made the cut as GLV streamlined its original offerings, GLV's owner was kind enough to mix up an extra bottle of each for me).

As GLV found their sea legs and began to develop a signature juice style that has attracted a growing following, I kept seeing posts about El Kamino, which some folks were calling a Boba's Bounty killer. It's not, by the way. El Kamino is, however, another of those juices that are multi-dimensional and hard to pin down, with an ever-changing flavor profile that reminds some people of Boba's chameleon-like flavor qualities. Also, Boba's sneaks up on some people and takes them by surprise, while El Kamino is so intensely flavored that it doesn't care about surprising anyone.

Anyway, I decided to try El Kamino and added some Deadly Sin to my cart on a whim. I have since bought 50ml bottles of both, although I prefer Deadly Sin. El Kamino is another aggressively-flavored mystery juice. Given your description of Banyon Tree, I think you might cotton to El Kamino in a big way. I like it in small doses; otherwise, it blows out my palate. Deadly Sin, however turned out to be the sleeping beauty of that duo (for me, at least) and has become one of my daily vapes and currently my gold standard for sweet juices. It has enough bakery substance that the dessert sweetness doesn't become cloying (the TINO aspect helps that). I don't seem to tire of it.

i hope this isn't received wrong but bill and jerms, you both just told a guy this is a thread about natural tobacco after he recommended a synthetic; telling him to read the thread. then proceeded to talk about and recommend synthetics .. im not trying to be rude or be the NET police, but its just a little misleading. Im sure they are great cause i value both of your opinions highly, much respect to both of you, just sayin. who knows, maybe im clueless and they are tino-NETS

EDIT: i suppose its different cause he really had no clue between the two. and with all the new MOVs there's bound to be synthetic talk.

Neither of us said that synthetic tobacco talk isn't allowed, so kind of confused about your post. I answered the question about the difference between a NET and an arti and Bill mentioned that the answer to the question of "what's the difference" is what this entire thread is about.

I certainly understand what erawk is talking about... but myself I don't completely agree with the assessment.

This thread is certainly about e-juices that the flavor is from naturally extracted tobacco as apposed to synthetic flavors ( arti-bacco ) that just taste something like tobacco. So that's a given here... but when a new person enters the thread and mistakenly posts about a arti-bacco thinking they are contributing to a thread on NET's... I think we need to correct their misunderstanding of the differences. Still... to fully do that you must also cover some details about a synth as well so there is some comparison shown between them.

Myself, I've just recently gotten a synth made by JuiceMafia to do just that... so I can revisit those differences in taste etc. I posted about my early tasting of it and later on... I'll do a follow up after some amount of time passes and the juice has had time to steep. I do all of it for a comparison and not really to promote as much as to help define the differences ( even if done poorly... lol ) ...

From the past discussions on NET's as well as the arti-bacco's... we've seen good and favorable reports in both areas... but I think the reports on the synths are just there to provide a comparison and nothing more.
