That would be sweet. It will be interesting to hear back from them. If their minimum order isn't outrageous, I'd be in for a group buy.

While we're on extracts, I pulled a small sample from my Perique that's two weeks into a cold maceration and it is bangin! Sweet and sour fermented funkiness!:2cool:

Nice! I might also do a Perique extraction eventually. I have an a 3+ week cold maceration going for American Spirits Organic. I'm holding myself back from tapping into it :)

It finally came! Ordered 10/27.

FINALLY!, Good news.

Looking forward to what you think of it --please post updates over time.

Don't know if you have been following FT forums, so: Just a heads up-- apparently the early versions of the 3.1 (and some other SS advetised toppers) contain chrome plated brass and folks are up in arms. FT staff member "Geek, Sufie" has looked into it and reports that the early versions of the 3.1 do have chrome plated neg. posts and positive block. She states that the manufacturer has agreed to supply SS versions of those pieces. If chrome plating is an issue for you, you can place a ticket and get the replacement parts at no charge.

Ineresting.. TY for that info papa.. I knew that was an issue with the taifun, but was unaware that it might be an issue on the 3.1. I'll have to take a look when the tanks empty... So far my only gripe is the height/size. I've gotten over the fact that I can't see the juice level in the inner well... Although I did see they are making clear PMMA replacement pieces. I generally avoid plastic though..

Papabogart,

Thanks for the heads up, it made me take mine apart again to verify the composition of the aforementioned parts which turn out to be plated brass. Ordered on 10/22 right in the middle of the big log jam and received 12/02. I'll petition ft for the replacement parts with my next order. I'm currently vaping analog/vintage frankenjuice and thoroughly enjoying it.

Happy if I've been of some help, BuffaloBore.

I suggest you read the whole 11 pages as I believe ft outlined a procedure to be followed in order to get the replacement parts.

I've been watching in anticipation of buying, Hoping to jump in when the bugs get worked out and after I see what trusted users like you and erawk have to say about them.

mine shipped on 11/27 so im guessing the deck needs to be replaced. Guess I'll vape the rest of this NS Dark and see whats under the hood. Its most definitely worth the twenty some odd dollars. Its a great system, but its not worth anymore. I don't mean that as a knock to the JDS or its design. I just mean that it isnt a game changer to me. that part is purely personal preference though. overall i would give it a solid A on the report card aside from the issue with the deck. Relatively nice finish with no rough spots leaks or crappy threading. It also comes with a 510 driptip adapter which i dont think the genuine 3.1 had. Maybe it does now though.

I'm very impressed with Legend from HHV and ordered some Army and Shadow from same. It definitely gets better with age and the tobacco flavor IS Heavenly. Can't wait to try some more from their Purity and other vendors (Restocking with 100ml of Legend). Looking forward to a real good Blk and Mild cigar flavor, anyone have a lead?

VermillionRiver's Kentucky Vanilla Blend..

The first vape felt very vanilla heavy, which resulted in a quick opinion on the vanilla used; I like it a lot. It faded fairly quickly, didn't take long to feel less vanilla dominant. The tobacco is.. I don't know, it's not obviously NET to me. Without knowing, I would have guessed it's tobacco flavoring and tobacco absolute. I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed it's steam distilled tobacco extract like HHV, so NET it is. It wouldn't satisfy me if I was in the mood for a more obvious NET.

I do like it though, quite a bit actually. Has a similar fuzzines to Smooth & Mild from TPR. Smooth tobacco taste, no bite. The more I vape it the more leafy it's starting to feel, which I like. I'd rank it as a very well done vanilla tobacco. Enjoyable enough for me to want to try the straight bacco version, Kentucky Premium Blend, and maybe a couple others from Vermillion.

Wow, Jerms, you're taking me back. Way back.

I vaped a lot of VR's various Kentucky blends from mid-2011 to mid-2012. Especially Kentucky and Kentucky Vanilla. They were among my daily vapes for most of that roughly one-year period (along with NLV Bounty Hunter and Gold). I vaped enough of those two to be ready for "real" NETs to blow them out of the water, which hit critical mass from mid-2012 on. I'm not challenging what you wrote---if I were vaping VR Kentucky Blends for the first time today, I think they'd be interesting to me as an alternative to the countless (well, not quite countless, but more than 100) NETs that now comprise the center of my tobacco vaping.

Having started vaping in 2010 with synthetic tobaccos and a mere sprinkling of the relatively few early macerated NETs available then, I'm now experiencing some of the "what-goes-around-comes-around" phenomenon. Synthetics and TA-synthetic hybrids are once again palatable to me (at least some of them). Macerated NETs continue to define "real" tobacco, but synthetics are now a kind of ersatz tobacco, rather like eating gourmet bakery cheesecake for a long time, then being served Jello instant no-bake cheesecake---doesn't really taste like cheesecake, more akin to alien food from another planet, but sort of interesting nonetheless.

Or not. I just vaped some Kentucky Vanilla a moment ago, and while it was OK, no miraculous resurrection occurred in my brain or taste buds. It was still a juice from my past that I once loved and now do not. Oh well, one man's ceiling and all that.

Vendors who use Natural Tobacco (either NET or TA/TE)

Special Mention as True Pioneers of Macerated NETs
Want2Vape
VapeRite

A-Tier
Ahlusion (Ahl or A+) – the 800 lb. gorilla of in-house NETs; cutting-edge extraction methods
Goodejuice (GeJ) – workingman’s house-brewed NETs; dependable, solid, no-nonsense
Heather'sHeavenlyVapes (HHV) – the patisserie of NET vendors; known for sweeter blends with moderate tobacco presence
HouseofLiquid (HoL) – the European heavyweight of in-house NETs
MountainOakVapors (MOV)– six good in-house NETs
Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco (N-E-T) – the newest kid on the block; making big waves, sells both NET juice and extract
QuickNicJuice (QnJ) – seven tasty in-house NETs

B-Tier
DarthVapers (DV) – a line of NET blends, all made from the same base extract
Mom&PopVaporShop (M&P) – a selection of TA/TE based liquids
Moondrop (Moondrop)– a handful of TA juices
MyVapeJuice (MVJ) – former new kid on the block; making a comback with cigar NETs; sells both NET juices and extracts
ThePlumeRoom (TPR) – six in-house NET blends
Sweet-Vapes (SV) – a selection of in-house NETs
VelvetCloudVapor – five tobacco juices; unique in making/using their own in-house TA

C-Tier
AliceInVapeland (AiV) – trying to develop NETs; slow-going as first offering (Ravyn) was not well-received
AltCig (AC) – one or two tobaccos that are probably TA/TE-based
BackwoodsBrew (BWB) – who knows what they use?
BeeLiquid (Bee) – not well known; a selection of in-house macerated NETs
Cravin’Vapes (CV) – in-house NETs, but not quite ready for prime time
HappyEsmoker (HeS)– three tobaccos; perhaps TA-based
HighbrowVapor (HV) – four tobacco juices, probably in-house NETs
PrimeVaping (PV) – a modest selection; probably TA-based
TastyVapor (TV) – offers one in-house macerated tobacco (in regular or menthol)
Vermillion River (VR) – a line of spin-offs from one TA-based blend

Z-Tier
VirginVapors – one TA-based juice that misfired badly

Apologies if I've inadvertently left out any NET vendors. If I've made mistakes in descriptions, please offer corrections.

Much thanks for this !!!

I've got DIY Peter Stokkebye Turkish Blend NET loaded into a REO Mini 2.1 bottom-feeder, running an RM2 RBA with a 1.2 ohm 29-gauge microcoil and Ekowool wick, and the question I had to ask myself today was, "Why doesn't this taste better?"

Don't get me wrong: PS Turkish is a lovely home-brewed cigarette-like NET, very smooth and pleasing, and the hardware cannot be faulted. It's just that Turkish blends---even good ones like Peter Stokkebye's, with its Samsoun Turkish well-blended with a couple Virginias---aren't very complex. Vaping straight Turkish is a little like driving down the highway on a Toyota Camry set to 65 mph on cruise control. The ride is comfortable and easy, but it's hardly a sports car and isn't going to set the world on fire with excitement.

So, I added to the 3ml bottle in my REO a couple drops of TFA Caramel Candy and Bavarian Cream flavorings. But wait, you say, isn't that an RY4? I mean, it's tobacco, caramel and vanilla, right? Well, technically, yes, but practically, no. I added only a tiny amount of the "dessert" flavorings, not sufficient to change or obscure the basic flavor profile of the tobacco blend, just enough to give the cruise-controlled Camry a slightly bigger engine with a manual transmission and better tires. Now I can actually feel the road rather than merely floating down the highway. No, it's still not a BMW or Porsche, but it's not putting me to sleep anymore.

Vaping it now, my brain, which previously said "OK, Turkish, so what?" now says, "Ooh, what a yummy Turkish!" You know, Turkish kicked up a notch.
