I've got DIY Peter Stokkebye Turkish Blend NET loaded into a REO Mini 2.1 bottom-feeder, running an RM2 RBA with a 1.2 ohm 29-gauge microcoil and Ekowool wick, and the question I had to ask myself today was, "Why doesn't this taste better?"
Don't get me wrong: PS Turkish is a lovely home-brewed cigarette-like NET, very smooth and pleasing, and the hardware cannot be faulted. It's just that Turkish blends---even good ones like Peter Stokkebye's, with its Samsoun Turkish well-blended with a couple Virginias---aren't very complex. Vaping straight Turkish is a little like driving down the highway on a Toyota Camry set to 65 mph on cruise control. The ride is comfortable and easy, but it's hardly a sports car and isn't going to set the world on fire with excitement.
So, I added to the 3ml bottle in my REO a couple drops of TFA Caramel Candy and Bavarian Cream flavorings. But wait, you say, isn't that an RY4? I mean, it's tobacco, caramel and vanilla, right? Well, technically, yes, but practically, no. I added only a tiny amount of the "dessert" flavorings, not sufficient to change or obscure the basic flavor profile of the tobacco blend, just enough to give the cruise-controlled Camry a slightly bigger engine with a manual transmission and better tires. Now I can actually feel the road rather than merely floating down the highway. No, it's still not a BMW or Porsche, but it's not putting me to sleep anymore.
Vaping it now, my brain, which previously said "OK, Turkish, so what?" now says, "Ooh, what a yummy Turkish!" You know, Turkish kicked up a notch.
