I used to be hooked on those exact three juices too, they were my favorite 'baccos. If they are using NET they really, really ought to publicize that better on their website. I would bet that most people have no clue. I didn't.

And I am 95% sure that they don't use tobacco absolute. As this thread's resident TA Loather I can taste a molecule of that stuff and am quite certain that I never noticed it in PS's juices.

Interesting question: Does PinkSpot use NETs in their tobacco juices?

Last fall, as part of our Up-Over/Down-Under International Exchange Program, scarfy sent me a care package chock full of 5ml sample bottles. Among them were PinkSpot RY8 and Swagger, as well as scarfy's lovely homemade Monte Cristo cigar extract. After getting the package, I reviewed RY8 for The Really Big RY4 Roundup thread (here's a link to the review: PinkSpot RY8 review). I felt that RY8 wa a citizen of the Vanilla Republic rather than RY4 Land---no caramel flavor---so I didn't include it on The Big RY4 List.

A moment ago I got out my bottles of RY8 and Swagger and atty-dripped them again to see what I might glean about the origin of their tobacco flavorings. No lightning bolts of cosmic revelation from on high appeared in the form of stone tablets with the words "Synthetic" or "NET" carved on them, so the results were, as expected, inconclusive: NET? Maybe, maybe not. Curiously, though, the mouthfeel of both juices did contain a certain indefinable resonance I associate with NETs, so perhaps that leans a little more toward the maybe side.

I agree with scarf: whatever I'm tasting is NOT Tobacco Absolute or Tobacco Extract. I don't loathe the dreaded "green slime" like scarfy does, but I too can taste TA/TE a mile away, and these juices don't contain them. Swagger and RY8 use either an NET base or a synthetic cleverly dressed-up to resemble an NET.

That said, both juices are firmly in the hybrid camp (with additional non-tobacco flavorings added during mixing) rather than the straighter tobacco approach. My palate does taste the tobacco elements of Swagger and RY8, but as ensemble players only, not starring roles.

I would be pretty surprised if Pink Spot tobaccos are NETs, that would have been a pretty big oversite on this thread. Those tobaccos have been around for a bit, and it would mean they were some of the first NETs.

I'd be more than surprised. *shrug*

Heads up the new Pendragon from MOV is a lot better than the old. More bite and good ol' tobacco!

I just ordered a 15ml bottle of the slightly kicked-up Pendragon, along with a 30ml bottle of Sunday Morning. In my Frankenjuiced version, Sunday Morning is my current favorite NET. I add a bit more coffee flavoring---FA Coffee Espresso---and a smidgen of Vanilla flavoring. Not so much as to move the tobacco out of the driver's seat, just enough to be able to taste the creamy coffee in the mix. In my first bottle, I couldn't really taste the coffee and cream in the straight retail version---it was too subtle for my palate, more a hint than a flavor. Once I Frankenjuiced it slightly, I vaped the whole bottle in nothing flat. Yum.

Trying QNJ NETs, one week steeped. Really like Fired in Georgia but man this juice is hard on atties.

johni,

Take me to school on what you mean by "hard on atties." I presume you're referring to dark, "thick" juices that are full of participates, which tend to burn and form a blackened, gunky film on the atomizer coils.

I don't mean to play naïve. I understand that many vapers, especially NET vapers, are very sensitive to how "clean-burning" a given NET is. I'm not. As I've written, I don't care. I use a vaporizing-coil device (atty/carto/clearo/fixed coil/rebuildable coil/whatever) until the coil burns out or the flavor vanishes, and then I pitch it. Along the way toward those funerals, I don't examine the coils with a magnifying glass while illuminating them with a flashlight. I do dry-burn my well-used atties from time to time, but as part of routine maintenance, not because I notice that something is amiss.

So, I'm curious as to precisely what you experience with juices that are hard on atties. Loss of flavor or vapor production? Premature coil death as a result of open-circuit burn-through or shorting? What symptoms do you notice that get your attention? And do you have rejuvenating techniques (boiling in vodka, electrostatic cleaners, dry burning, etc.)?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I just want to better understand your (and others') frustration.

Bill, I only use disposable atties on a 3.7 volt device. I haven't had one stop firing yet but over time they develop a strong scorched, burnt taste when you have vaped most of the juice in them until they taste burnt even when freshly filled. I'm still trying to find a good cleaning method as my efforts so far have not produced very satisfactory results. Tried blowing out, atty refresher, boiling, and grain alcohol soak. This week I tried dry burning one since it was not responding to any other method. It helped but only somewhat.

I'm going to try a ultrasonic jewelry cleaner next and experiment with dry burning but these things have a wick so I'm leary of burning that material. The atties I like, the Boge Leo, are very large with a mesh wrapped bridge and they cost enough I don't want to just toss them. They relly let the flavor shine through when fresh but I only use them for tasting and samples so I may just get a handfull of cheaper ones and skip the cleaning hassle.

Obviously particulate matter creates residue when the associated liquid is vaporized but my guess is that darker juices with high sugar content are probably the toughest on our gear. W2V and QNJ dark juices have been the toughest on mine.

Since I use the 4 ml cartos, I am particularly concerned with how "clean" a juice is. If it gunks up an atomizer rapidly it won't wick well in cartos. I have run 30 mls of "clean" NETs through the same carto, continuously, with little or no loss of flavor or performance. I use these things for convenience so I just want them to work and not be a hassle.

I agree with you. I've tried Pendragon, Smokey Mountain 555, and Southern Gentleman. Although I did like Southern Gentleman I have others like it but with a bit more pizzazz. Pendragon I didn't dislike but it has very little personality, and Smokey Mountain is so, so as far as 555s go. Maybe after a coupla weeks I'll feel different.
Hmmm... Just tried some of the MOV order I received today, and all three are lacking depth so far. Ok flavor, but just not making it for me yet. I'll let them steep a week or so and revisit again.
