Jerms,

I've got to agree with you at least in part... I'm using the IGO-L which is the IGO-S's bigger brother... and I don't have anything that surpasses the flavor I get on that nor the simplicity of maintaining it. The only down side it has is minor... the juice leaking out of the side hole it has if I set it down wrong when I've still got it pretty full.

Wow Jerms, great post and you might consider "blogging it" for sake of posterity. Gonna have to try 30 gauge, braided silica, and the IGO-S RBA, but it would be great if someone would come out with a seamless thread cover for the Twist (and not those cheapo carto-tank thread covers either).

Thanks Abe. The thing about it though is with all the variables and possibilities with RBAs, it's more this works just for me than being the best set-up for others. Many here don't care for silica and prefer SS mesh, which I haven't even tried yet, and many find the draw too tight on the IGO-S and capacity too small. I lucked out that most of my personal gripes got fixed by my recent purchases. I'll probably dive into the quest for a better JDS again one day, but for the first time I'm going to give that part a rest and stick to what works now.

Many hear have moved on from 32 gauge to 30 and 28 and know the benefits, but the difference is big enough where I urge anyone who just uses 32 to try 30, lower the ohms, and raise the watts.

Yes! I tried to find one thing I could count as a negative and that was it. It's a very small thing, I'm used to vaping with the hole pointed up using 901s and my other RBAs. I look at it as smoking a pipe, you can't hold it upside down so it is what it is. However, if something comes that works the same but can be held any way, like a 510 or carto, that would be great. Then I could dump the carto for a leak-proof, safe in the picket, out-and-about solution.

Did you try Smooth Criminal Bronze? Would like your take on it. I'm in love, but didn't open the bottle for about 3 months - and not sure if that would make a lot of difference?

Hi folks. Haven't been checking in on this thread much of late. Thought I'd drop a post. I have completed 12 Ahlusion NET samples now thanks to a couple of fine fellows who frequent this thread (did some juice swaps). While there are many Ahlusion enthusiasts, I have to say I am not one of them. It seems vendors have a common flavor base among their NETs that are pervasive throughout their NET lines. At least that is what I have found for the most part. Ahlusion is no different. I'm not sure what it is about their base NET flavor. There is a medicinal or soapy quality about them that just misses the target with me. That said, there were a few of them that weren't too bad, namely Vurley, Smokin' Cherries, and the CA Black tea. I can vape them. The others...not so much. I'm afraid my vape-likes remain with three vendors...HHV, GeJ, and Quicknic. No offense to the A+ crowd. :)

Hula, by not opening the bottle do you mean even when you got it, it stayed sealed for 3 months? I'm curious how much the juice stays unchanged if it hasn't been opened. Many vendors say no steeping occurs until it's been first exposed to air, but I have a feeling it does steep, just not as quck. How dark and sweet is it? My often opened, well aged SC had just a hint of sweet, while fresh it was very sweet. It also got pretty dark. It also got damn tasty.

That's right Jerms - as unbelievable as I find that now - I didn't open the bottle at all for 3 months. lol. I had a mad crazy juice buying whirl and am still ploughing through this's n that's even now. The color is a dark amber, - I don't know what it would have been to begin with, but will find out shortly thanks to Tez helping me out with a reorder. "Tez, Tez, he's the man,........" :D

Flavor - I have nothing to base this on other than what it tasted like to me, but to begin with I had an impression of strawberry and cinnamon, but now it's become a touch of balanced vanilla sweetness with a freshness (from the strawberry I guess) and a tang (from the cinnamon) with a mild tobacco.

Waiting to find out how seriously off-base my tastebuds are comparative to others' experience.

I've been on the same hemp wick for 10 days now in my RBA. I'm amazed by this. normally I swap wicks like every other day at just the hint of poor performance, but no need.

Erawk, you must be vaping very clean juices at very low wattage... ?? Out of my frustration with silica and mesh, I took your advice from several weeks ago and picked up some of the hemp wick you linked to on ebay. Boiled out all the bees wax, etc etc. I found it to get gunked up just as quick as silica does with these NETs. It doesn't seem to wick as fast, nor stand up to the heat that I like to run through my RBA's (9-10W) -- it breaks down and falls apart rather quickly if you don't baby it. It also imparts a taste, which isn't terrible, but is there nonetheless. Silica isn't perfect, and neither is hemp, but I have switched back to silica because I found it needed less babysitting. :2c: I just break 'em in with a blue flame and clean and change more often. Right now, this is the happiest I've been with RBA's since I dove in. :glug:

Jerms - I'm gonna read your essay on the way home. ;) Looking forward to it.

Lol, I relate to the mad juice buying whirl. If it's dark amber it has definately steeped and oxidized without being open. It's very light when fresh. I'll be interested what the fresh SC tastes like to you, probably will seem a lot sweeter.

I didn't get any strawberry or cinnamon myself, though I've heard others detect cinnamon. The vanilla sweetness I see. For me it was in that heavier category like caramel or maple, but in the category more than having those flavors. Vanilla I also put in that category. Another way to say it, it was sweet, but not in a candy or fruit way. I found the tobacco to be about perfectly medium. Not neer as strong as the aros from Ahl but enough depth and presence to not be mild.

I like hearing your descriptions Hula! Reminds me of a lot I've read of Scarf's, who would describe flavor notes I didn't even think of, but when I go back and look for them new nuances pop up. It's great to hear the different perceptions.

Lol, as you know with my Tapatalk sig, I'm on my phone. So I type these out with a general idea of what I'm gonna post but it get's written as kind of stream of thought. I hit submit and go back to reading the thread and often think, holy cow that turned out to be a long post, hope at least a couple people read it lol. That one my jaw dropped a little when scrolling through the page, almost felt embarrassed by the length. Ah well, I enjoyed writing it. Hope you read it, I eventually talk about RBAs and silica and the like. This braided silica ranks much better than the normal twisted for me.

I just got 3 NET's from MOV. How long should they steep and is it even worth it to even give them a try right now? The three I have are Sunday Morning, Southern Gentleman, and Pendragon.

I vaped SunMorn and PenD (nice abbreviations Nick, I'm stealing them) right when I cracked the seal and found them amazing. SoGen is sitting. Ymmv.

Thank you. I just loaded a carto with Pendragon. This is the closest I have gotten to an anolog yet. I can definitely tell there is burley in there, and it gives it a cigarette or cigar flavor. The sweetness also comes through with the cherry, although the vanilla seems a little muted at this point. It's really good right out of the bottle, but I think some steeping will allow all the flavors to truly come through.

Thanks for the reply.

Glad you like it! I haven't heard if these make a big change with time. Steeping usually is great for tobaccos though. From what I've read PenD is the lightest of these NETs, so expect more flavor with the others.

Thank you for the feedback Nick, I was already fairly certain that steep time on those HBV baccos was not going to be able to sway my opinion that far in the other direction. Shame. So for a first time order from Ahlusions does BGB and Smooth Criminal sound like a decent start to get a feel for their baccos? I have big bottles of legend, dragons fire and huntsman so I just want to do a couple at a time

My vote would be a resounding yes on those two if your looking for a straightforward tobacco vape. The big difference in those two is the level of tobacco strength and sweetness, if you prefer one it'll make it easier to decide on their aromatic or non-aromatic lines.

Edit: I don't mean to be speaking for Nick since the q was directed at him, I'm sure he'll provide feedback later. It just caught me that when you asked about 2 that would represent Ahl's tobaccos you had picked the 2 I would suggest.

Thanks Jerms, I just found a great eBay supplier of Kanthal so will be trying to 30 gauge some time soon. I guess my Kanthal gauge will match my silver's.

A question: I usually just eyeball my 32 gauge coils and they end up pretty much on the spot; 4 times around 2mm wire on my Eternity and 3 times around 2 2mm wicks on my Terminator-C. How many more wraps would I do to make the equivalent with 30 gauge? I don't use any mods with built in ohm-readers and don't really trust my multimeter for coils (time to get alligator clips).
