I find it interesting that funk has a negative connotation for some people. I know that the word is used in a negative way, but I generally see it as a unique and positive thing. Funk music is awesome. I consider Prince to be the embodiment of '80s and '90s funkiness. When I hear the word, I think "different" or "unusual."

Also, for those wondering why there are so many 555 e-liquids out there, I just learned that State Express 555 is hugely popular in Asia. According to Wikipedia it's the, "second most popular brand in Asia (after Dji Sam Soe 234 from Philip Morris International), especially China and Malaysia where it is BAT's most popular brand."

Dang, and I thought I was all cool in my years immediately after college for smoking State Express, Dunhill, and Nat Sherman cigarettes.

Naw... I hear "funk" and think about George Clinton (but NOT Cold Medina). Definitely not a negative connotation.

I KNEW I was cool for smoking Pall Mall, after all it's "where particular people congregate."

I didn't know that 555s were modeled after a real cigarette. Just thought it was a nutty tobacco flavor. The NET that seems the most nutty to me is Puros from HoL. I'm in the minority, but I experience it as a really strong nutty flavor. No idea if it's a similar nuttiness that 555s go for. Did State Express cigs have noticable nut notes or is that just what the juice goes for?

Funk? Bootsy!

Bootsy Collins and his Rubber Band. (Bootsy's band was the first PFunk based band to get on Billboard's top album chart) Love that PFunk was made up of so many bands... and, interestingly, lead by Bootsy (who doesn't get much credit for it since George was up front for most of it) - as I understand it, he is the one that got George Clinton to join in the first place.

Anywho, back to your regularly scheduled program... I'll minimize the thread derails :D

I recall the cigarettes having a nutty tobacco taste, but it's been so long that I don't know how it compares to 555 e-liquids. For better, that's the taste I'm familiar with now. I suppose I could buy a pack to find out if it's similar, but that seems gross to me now. Ha!

Yeah, I smoke the occasional cig and cigar and there really is kind of a grossness to smoke compared vapor. When I vape I often exhale slowly so there's a pleasant cloud of vapor surrounding my face. That pleasant cloud is NOT so pleasant with smoke.

Okay been vaping Huntsman from Heather's for several hours and I'm pretty surprised by it. Huntsman is described on the HHV site as "a medium bodied tobacco with woody, earthy tones", and I agree with that description.

It's dry compared to the Legend and Serendipity from HHV I've been vaping, though it does have a slight sweetness that feels like part of the tobacco leaf instead of a Cavendish that is cured with sweet flavors, like the other two. The sweetness reminds me of well-steeped Smooth Criminal in that I notice it when thinking about it, and it makes it more palatable, but it disappears so much into the backround that after a bit it's just pure, medium tobacco.

During a slow exhale the woody notes really come into play, with the earthiness and just a very slight leafy bite. Letting it crawl out of my mouth and nose provides a tobacco impact that moves it from medium to more of a full-bodied, stronger medium, and highlights the wood tones really showing off how complex they are. It's straight-forward tobacco, but holds so much complexity that even a straight tobacco can provide.

Huntsman wasn't as instantly likable to me as Legend. Instead it took a bit for what at first was an unremarkable but pleasant tobacco vape, into a highly complex and layered experience. Also to note, I've been vaping it for hours with absolutely zero loss in flavor which is what most juices do. Legend and especially Serendipity lose the other flavor notes as I become accustomed to them, so I switch flavors because the tobacco alone isn't as interesting as Huntman.

Legend I really like a lot, and it's more unique than this juice. Huntsman though I like more and also consider it a better juice overall. Easily my favorite HHV so far and even probably somewhere in my top 10 NETs.

You know RPad,I guess I'm not sure what "funk" tastes like to me. I just don't taste it in GeJ like others do.:laugh:

Excellent review, Jerms. I want to try out a few from HHV and Goodejuice next week.

Every vendor has a plethora of tobacco juices, and it's difficult to cut through the lists since the descriptions usually don't match the reviews, or vice versa.

As I go through and taste all the NETs I can get my hands on, I have been keeping tasting notes on my blog here - have a look. That may be helpful

That was how I viewed Huntsman as well. Thanks for writing my review for me. LOL. Seriously though, good job!

I just started vaping ,and the kit gave me two samples, the twist is awesome, but this ejuice is too sweet after a few vapes. No idea how people can enjoy the sweet stuff but I guess everyone has their own taste

I need to find something that is very close to cigar/cigarette tobacco.

There are way too many choices, I started reading this thread but 900 pages. I need something with good throat hit as well.

Can someone give me a top 5 I should try? Also I read that some tobacco can clog up the mini nova vision? Is that true or recommend ones I don't have to worry about the clog

You might check out this (much smaller) thread which has some favorites broken down by categories http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/412570-netty-awards.html
