When I was first 'acquiring' the taste for the dry, analog like Want2Vape liquids I wasn't a fan of Kuba Kuba either but once my taste buds and senses tuned in and understood their juices I started liking Kuba Kuba. I am not even sure you are talking about Want2Vape's Kuba Kuba or not.

Uh, not as bad. It pains me to say that. :)

But I was sent one worse...Kuba Kuba.

Okay so I am having some difficulties with a liquid everyone claims tastes like a cigarette or a cigar and which seems to be enjoyed universally, but I just don't get it. I am talking about Dark Horse - HHV.

I am trying to like this liquid, no I am trying to love it. It's hard not to like HHV liquids the same way it's hard not to like chocolate cake. Dark Horse is easily vapable, I could probably finish a 15 ml bottle unlike other liquids that have been more miss than hit for me. But I am not drawn to it at all and it does NOT taste like a cigar or cigarette to me. All of HHV juices are sweet, some, very sweet, and as a result don't taste like tobacco at all to me. I don't taste tobacco on the inhale or exhale. I wouldn't even know they were a NET if I didn't read it on the site's info. I can tell Plumes of Vapor's Candied Cavendish is a NET and I can taste tobacco mixed in with the sweetness but I don't get that with HHV liquids.

Don't get me wrong, HHV juices are some my favourites. I particularly like Dragon's Fire, Pirate's Booty and a bunch of others. Dark Horse in particular just tastes sweet and lacks any other noticable flavour for me. If I had to name I would call it sweet nothing. Somebody once said it tastes like a marlboro but I think it tastes nothing like a marlboro. Plumes of Vapor's Marlboro tastes like a marlboro. HHV's Dark Horse tastes like subdued icing sugar.

My Dark Horse is about 3 or 4 weeks old. Could it be steeping? Does the sweetest level out a bit with some steeping or does it get sweeter still?

Someone straighten me out here.

No e-liquids tastes like a cigarette to me. If I ever say one does, it is meant to suggest it is as close to it as I've tried. Dark Horse would be one of those simply because it lacks flavor...just like a cigarette. The sweetness in Dark Horse will become duller as it ages. Always there but will be less sharp. If that makes any sense. Huntsman is much the same.

I found Dark Horse confusing. I dripped some on a 306 atty and I wasn't impressed at first. About half-way through a sample bottle I got a few hits that were completely different, so much so that I thought it somehow got mixed with the previous juice in the atty. So, I broke out a new HH357 and dripped on that. Same thing, a few hits of that oaty background taste and then all of a sudden I'm getting a cigarette taste that reminded me of Buckingham cigarettes from Canada. I had shaken the bottle and looked to see if there was any kind of residue stuck to the bottom but there wasn't.

This happens every once in awhile with other juices I dripped in the past. I don't know if it's my taste buds or not but it's exceedingly strange to me.

Just searched this thread and I'm finding all kinds of opinions... I forget sometimes to search first/ask questions later

Truthfully, these threads can get quite long and they wander. It's just easier if you hop on and ask...like you did. We're not short on opinions here. :) I've seen both good and bad press on Sunday Morning.

Brief review of Virginia from Backwoods Brew-

Bright yellow in color, smells great, told my girlfriend I wouldn't mind having a candle that smelled like it!

I let it steep for the suggested 7 days. Tried it out and didn't really care for it, tasted like sweet green tea and that was about it. Let it sit for another week and wow what a difference! The sweet green tea flavor is still present on inhale, but much more subdued. The exhale is where it really shines, has a wonderful spicy tobacco flavor. I would say vapor production is above average for a 70% pg blend.

This is not an extremely bold or complex liquid, but it's really great. I could easily vape this all day. Would be a great first choice for someone looking to move beyond what was included in their e-cig starter kit. As an added bonus it is a pretty thin liquid and very cartomizer friendly. Not a tremendous flavor drop off vs. dripping.

Vaperite was one of the founders of the whole NET movement. Along with BWB, Want2Vape and one or two others, Vaperite were one of the first and one of the most popular. For their time, their liquids were heads and shoulders above some of the others for their naturally extracted tobaccos and some of their flavours mimicked the flavours of tobacco more than their counterparts.

Jerms if you heading Vaperite's way and want to try a few I would suggest going for some samplers where you can get a bunch of 3 ml samplers of tobaccos before you make any significant purchases. You have probably been spoilt by some of the amazing new era NETS and may find them disappointing. Personally, I hope you don't. I am a real fan of Todd Gano's work and he made his liquids with love in a way only a handful of vendors do. All he really needs to do is start modelling some of the techniques of the new era NETS and I bet he can get right at the top again.

If you must try a few Vaperite NETS I would recommend Rou's Toasted Hazelnut, Organic Tobacco, the Perique (though, I admit I don't think it compares to the GEJ perique), Tuscany tobacco and the 777 for a lighter, smokier version of Ry4 with lighter notes of caramel and vanilla.

By the way, you should, by all rights, not leave your cart without at least a sampler of their Vr4. It won the Vapenstein award in 2010 for the best Ry4. It's a good Ry4, even by today's standards. The madagascar is pretty good if you are a fan of tobacco with vanilla.

I would really like to hear your impressions on their juices.

Regards

Thanks! Great info for me. I'll keep your suggestions of flavors in mind. Love when 3ml sampler options are available for vendors I'm sorta interested in checking out.

Anybody here tried Sunday Morning from Mountain Oak? I like the idea of a tobacco/coffee mix...

As a juice overall I like it a lot. As a tobacco/coffee mix it leaves a little to be desired. The coffee and cream flavors are subtle, which can be a good thing, but for me the coffee flavor seems to fade pretty quick so I only vape it for short sessions. I'm thinking Bill was on to something by adding some extra coffee concentrate to Frankenjuice it up.

Anthony,

I'd straighten you out if I could, but I'm afraid I'm also twisted.

Heather'sHeavenlyVapes is an extremely popular vendor on ECF (HHV's gazillion-page supplier thread attests to that). Heather's liquids are high-quality, well-made, and usually complex. And many posters of this thread adore HHV juices, especially their tobacco blends.

I've had Dark Horse, Dragon's Fire, Gandalf/Legend, Heavenly Army, Heavenly Tobacco (RY4), Huntsman, and Oompa. I loved Gandalf in the beginning, but it gradually faded for me over the past year. This isn't unusual for my palate---I'm easily won but hard to keep. Dragon's Fire was similar---great for awhile. And Heavenly Tobacco is a good synthetic Custom RY4.

The rest never won me over. Dark Horse and Huntsman reminded me of BackwoodsBrew tobaccos (not bad, but not special), Oompa just wasn't my cup of tea, and I flat-out didn't like Heavenly Army. That last one pretty much put the lid on HHV for me. I haven't ordered from them since.

When I think of HHV NETs, my brain says, "Ah, complex blends, usually sweet, with tobacco as ensemble player rather than star." No doubt many people would disagree, especially about Dark Horse and Huntsman.

I've often asked myself why I don't love HHV tobacco blends when so many other people do. What do they taste that I don't (or vice versa)? I've given up trying to answer those questions, however, because it doesn't matter what the reasons are. The only person I have to please in vaping is myself. The expanding marketplace of retail NETs has many other fine choices---Ahlusion, GoodEJuice, MountainOak, MyVapeJuice, QuickNic, PlumeRoom, etc.---plus, I'm deeply involved in making my own NET macerations and DIY juices. It's not like HHV will suffer without my business (or even notice my absence, for that matter). They'll do just fine without me.

Please understand: I'm not down on HHV. Their NETs are simply not for me.

I have stated that I didn't care for some popular vendors on this thread and, like you, couldn't see my way to embracing any of the flavors that so many others enjoy. It's a mystery why but also the truth. I'm just glad we have choices and are not caned for disliking favorite vendors of others. Especially when there are enough vendors that I find I like in common with my fellow threadsters here on the NT thread.

BTW, the gazillion page HHV thread is not company sponsored.

Jerms, a lot of VapeRite flavors that people think are NETs are not. One of the easiest ways to tell is the PG/VG ratio. If you can change the ratio, it is not NET; if it is set at 50/50 it is.

VapeRite---now there's another one.

I have major respect and admiration for Todd at VapeRite (and Donley at Want2Vape). Talk about NET pioneers! Those guys (along with Don at BackwoodsBrew) got me started on NETs more than two years ago. That said, I never fell in love with any of VapeRite's tobacco juices. Neither NET nor synthetic. Oh, I wanted to love them, but---in fact---I didn't. I liked/like some tobaccos from W2V and BWB, but it took the second and third waves of NET artisan juice-makers to turn a great idea into a reality for me. Even today, there's no single vendor from whom I like every NET. It's all cherry-picking to find the ones that thrill me.

I agree with Jerms regarding MOV Sunday Morning in so far as the coffee flavor is quite subtle. However, to me, the cream is the main player with a hint of coffee and a mild to medium tobacco. i enjoy Sunday Morning quite a bit, it's firmly in my top ten juices that I vape regularly. And to top it off, I found it to be quite good right away, and steeping didn't, again to ME, change the profile much if at all. So I recommend giving it a try, hopefully you will like it, and if not, classi that juice and you shouldn't have a problem getting rid of it.

I'd be surprised if any vendor has a lineup that any individual really likes or even loves every single juice if they are being honest to themselves, and others around these parts. For me, it doesn't get any better as far as hit after hit from HHV juices, however they have several that I just don't get, or in one case, can't stand at all. MOV and QnJ are right up there with juices I enjoy, but still I've found at least one or two that I do not like at all as well.

Well, come to think of it, there is one vendor, my first vendor that I LOVED each and every juice of the 20+ that I tried. BMV... mmm mmm...ok I kid I kid...

I find it sad that we feel we have to apologize for not liking a juice or a vendor. I've gotten to the point where I just about won't even mention any juice I don't like, it always seems to offend someone.
