Aubergine, if I understand it correctly, Patterson is the governor, I posted a link to his website. I think he succeeded Spitzer, who succeeded Pataki, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, Patterson is our Govenor, unfortunately. We didnt have a choice. And he loves taxing everything. SO if he if gets a hint that he would lose some tax money (cigarette tax in NY is the highest int he country) to ecigs if they are not banned then we are screwed.

Alright I live in MO... but just thought I would throw this out there because this whole thing has me very nervous.

Have any of you thought about getting the media involved? I think it can be a very effective method. Radio stations, local T.V. and newspapers? Even letters to the editor. If you can just get one DJ as outraged as we are about this bill that voice would reach a lot more voters and activists.

I am in New York right outside of Albany I tried calling a few news stations around here with mixed results. I haven't seen a story yet... Fox 23 here pretty much blew me off saying how they already ran a couple stories on electric cigarettes. I mentioned the new bills and the person who answered the phone at least did not care in the slightest. CBS 6 took down a lot of information as did ABC WTEN10. They asked for the bill(s) and some websites. I gave them this website and the casaa website.

My girlfriend even wrote a lengthy email to Bill O'Reilly as we both figured this topic would be right up his alley.

I haven't tried contacting the papers yet.

UPDATE:
1.The Senate bill is still in the hands of the Health Committee.
2.The bill is NOT on the schedule to be discussed today.
3. We have written confirmation from several senate offices/officials stating that it won't be discussed today
4.The general public is not allowed to speak at Health Committee meetings without an invitation
5. The Vapers Coalition has members going to Albany on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to meet with Senator Klein's attorney and with other key players to discuss the bill, attempt to get it amended to only ban sales to minors and possibly get an invite to speak to the committee.
6. It may be on the schedule next week, but we won't know for certain until it's posted on Friday.
7. Keep writing letters, faxing and calling - especially to Senator Klein's office!!!
8. Don't bother emailing - no one is reading them - but they are paying attention to calls and letters!!
9. The Senate doesn't close until late June, so we have to watch this weekly until then or until the bill is amended.

NY...DJ...TV...the Wendy Williams Show? If she is sympathetic, she can get a lot of support for our cause. She is not afraid to speak her mind.

Good luck, JayDar. Did you call ahead or make an appointment? I hope you definitely get a point across to the governor and his staff.

For reference, here is the link I have provided:

Website/Contact Info. for the GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK (click on the link, the link is actually longer than it appears on this post; click on it):

sooo im lost here... are e cigs banned in NY or not?

I think that the bill hasn't been voted on yet, they seem to have added a ban to adults as well. So far it appears to have unanimous NY legislator approval (all approve, zero oppose). Your governor Patterson is in a very powerful position, I believe, as he alone can veto the whole corruption, to the best of my knowledge.
