Watch and see what happens if they truly are ignorant enough to ban electronic cigarettes. You can bet there will be protests, rock throwing, and possibly riots, definitely news broadcasts.... Maybe it is exactly what we need to get the word out. New York banning e-cigs would make national if not world wide news when we storm the capital. And I will do it. In a heartbeat. When they actually physically see and feel anger from citizens, they may listen, if not, the entire nation and world will know that a life saving device we ALL believe in is being kept from us. Every day I talk for hours with China Manufacturers, and that is not an exaggeration, and they cannot believe what our government and the FDA is trying to do. If it really does get banned, I may go to federal prison, and that is no lie.

That brings up a big question---why are the manufacturers not helping financially with donations to CASAA or ECF. We could really use a paid attorney with knowledge of government and the FDA. The manufacturers could help fund that type of help.

An attorney actually did show up in Illinois, as I understood it, but I don't know if it was from manufacturing or retailing.

Manufacturers would probably donate to a MASAA, but I do like the idea. As for ECF, I have a feeling that advertised suppliers may already be helping ECF, as well as the membership base.

Electronic cigarettes are really quite new, at least to the lawbooks. So there are not that many laws to get a lawyer for yet. I think at this point in time, people just need to quickly raise the ecig awareness among smokers and people who know of smokers, and get extremely involved in the legislative process as well. Communication and working with everyone's respective elected representative is extremely important, as well as not waiting until the last minute. Raising an awareness of who to vote for and who to vote out of office in a few months is also important, that is how legislators got their jobs in the first place, by the people who show up to vote, and elections are in November, just a few months away.

This video is available on YouTube for minors to see.

You could say that it is bad for children to witness such a bad decision making process, making law based on limited information and without any argument whatsoever.

But then, the government is on the verge of crashing, so it is good for children to witness the decision processes which failed. This video demonstrates one of many reasons why New York will not exist for long.

Where is our 'saviour' Obama? Is he not vaping?

These are my arguments, quick and dirty drafts anyway.

Electronic cigarettes should be given a warning in the sales and packaging, but to ban them? That is extreme and detrimental to those of us who use them instead of cigarettes.

Banning electronic cigarettes is a mistake, it is against the people, it is NOT the will of the people. Bring forth one person who would NOT offer electronic cigarettes to a loved one who smokes.

Noone has died, nor been hospitalized due to electronic cigarettes... so why would they be banned... unless there is a profit factor involved?

There is no question about sales to minors - nicotine in any form should not be sold to children. The fact that some unscrupulous persons have done so is not a factor in the legality of the product.

you know I see this whole situation more as those 3 letter abominations and their lobbists are just ...... off that we loopholed their anti smoking movement and laws...it's not about good science, or public health...it's about closing that loophole...

the anti ban organizer handbook is very specific on not allowing any exeptions, or provisions, they'd rather have no smoking law than walk away with a weak one...

And I think they see it as we made a giant truck sized loophole in thier legislation and weakened it from their perspective...

Exactly! Add to this equation the loss of taxes from the sale of traditional tobacco cigarettes and it's clear to see what's REALLY worrying the powers that be. Klein and Rosenthal aren't kidding anyone - regardless of how much smoke they blow up our you-know-whats. ;)

I think you're right.

The three letter association CEOs have already started getting the petition many of us mailed already (well, not me yet, but I will). Remember the 10 copies we're supposed to mail out? Those. heheh :) Mail them out; I would say now now now, if you're in NY in particular. PLEASE mail them out.

At the same time, imo, New Yorkers should continue writing their representatives, stay in touch with them. Thus far, their replies do seem to indicate that they welcome your involvement in legislation. Do it. Get involved, fellow NY vapers, and friends and family thereof. If you're not it the district of the letter posted above, I wonder if you can still write him to thank him, express your concerns, and indicate perhaps that you're writing in regard to a letter that your fellow vaper from his district received from him?

yeah but the new from the 3 letter abominations is that they don't want them put into the tobacco tax statute...if anything they think they should have completely their own tax statute..

At this time, our organizations do not support including e‐cigarettes in tobacco tax statutes. If states consider taxes on e‐cigarettes, they should be in a separate tax statute and not included with tobacco products.

:confused:Well, the pdf letter said it was written in early April. I think that was before the Rosenthal circus started in New York. And their point about no tax on ecigs seems to be superfluous bs, because the points they made before it clearly show that they urge to ban them to adults and everyone.

the one good thing about the ALA...for all those people saying "follow the money"....the ALA website actually keeps a comprehensive list of all the tobacco laws for each state (which includes the revenue numbers as well as the smokers rights laws for that state if there are any (which would apply to employment issues in reguards to nicotine) it's their slati database... located here: Tobacco Laws and Public Smoking Policy -- American Lung Association SLATI

Think too that states that have sold their tobacco settlement rights for lump sum payments may also be part of the problem...if BT revenues go down somebody ain't getting the money that they forcasted to have....I know in DC (where erica sward is) the ALA gets $10 million (not sure if that was per year, or for 3 years, or over 3 years) for bonds sold against the tobacco setlement..so if revenue goes down well the setlement goes down and it could affect the ALA

Since the heading and banner haven't changed, and I haven't been following, what is the current status of this? Is it an official law now? Are they illegal to sell and buy in NYS for everyone? What about use?

Thanks.

The Senate version of the bill has still not been acted on. There IS still time for you to contact all the Health Committee Senators, and your own Senator too.

Please see my post about this, after our lobbying visit to Albany:
