But I fear you would be giving them way too much credit thinking the delay relates to research on their part. :p I think they're simply too busy fighting over the budget to pay attentiion to much else.

Good - as long as they're too busy to care about the ban, that's good news.

And I still haven't shaken my fear of that possibility I mentioned above in this thread quite a while ago, however small it may be, that Rosenthal can somehow shoehorn her passed Assembly version of the bill onto the full Senate floor for a vote at the last minute, bypassing the Senate Health Committee.

They say you shouldn't corner somebody. She'd be single-handedly responsible for cornering a hundred thousand somebodies...

for the most part, money rules, and they'll do anything to get more of it. it has always been like that and the bankers are most guilty. it is why we have wasteful government spending and a national debt, because banks love receiving tax payer money paid as interest on national debt to them. it is why the borders are open, because they love loaning money at interest to more people and having it exported to mexico. it is why wars are fought because war means interest paid to the bankers. the banks don't even care about theft because ends up a tax write-off for one bank and gets deposited in another bank (and sometimes the same bank), to be loaned out again. they don't even really care about bankruptcy because of the same reason and because if it takes out the small bank, the big bank wins. it all goes back to the banks. it has been like that in every nation long before jesus over-turned the tables of the money changers.

George, our debt is to China not the banks! The interest on our debt goes to China not our banks. Frankly China OWNS us.

Ya, VIMBs. It's a profound crisis in Albany and it's going to be a bad time in NYS - I think that no one legislating down there is hunched and frowning over documents concerning the banishment of e-cigarettes. They are not economically significant just now in this state. It's an issue for health ideologues and purists at this point. State government persons truly do have far bigger fish to fry. Sizzle sizzle.

It's a bunch of inestimably moronic clowns over there, but they are very worried and preoccupied clowns, and I'll bet they'll leave us alone. Not sure, of course; anything can happen.

I think that there are soon going to be many more persons here suffering from burdens far harsher than anything to do with our treasured gadget. (And no, I'm not adding my voice to that of the mob that would like to blame Obama. Not gonna debate politics here, but feel a personal need to disclaim any sympathy for that persuasion.)

Washington, and the world, is run by a loose alliance of tremendously powerful international money/power interests, and they have held the reins for a very long time. The rest is political diversion. Welcome to the matrix. And vape on. It's consolatory.

Hope I'm right on the outcome of this issue, and wish that it could be for different reasons.

For those new to this thread, this is not new news - it's a video of the assembly meeting held some time ago. The bill must now pass the health committee and then the senate to be law. It has not been brought up in subsequent health committee meetings and may not be this season. May be quietly and suddenly pushed thru. There's only one more meeting, soon. Hopefully it's at least now understood there that the bill has informed and avid opponents. There's been no real news on this for some time. The final bill has NOT been passed at this point.

They have been voting on things other than the budget. The firearm microstamping bill was voted on (when the Dems found out they did not have enough votes, they withdrew it so they can have a re-do after they try to get more support for it), and other items have been on the floor. While they should be focused on the budget, they are doing other things.

This morning's news is Governor Patterson touting another $1 a pack tax on cigarettes, which would bring us to the highest cigarette tax in the nation at nearly $5 per pack. The tax will be higher than the cost of the product.

 Oh  my  goodness. Can they be any dumber? That is so cruel. Smoking is not a choice people make, like what to wear today. It's not like they can just say, "Hmmm, those are pretty expensive - I guess I won't buy any today." :2c:

Only the lucky ones will find out about e-cigarettes and set themselves free, and that's only if New York doesn't succeed in making sure they don't get that chance... :(

Personally, I plan on spreading the word even if they do get banned, and doing whatever I can to help New Yorkers get them by hook or by crook. :D

Actually, it's $1.60.

Gov. Paterson proposes a $1.60 per-pack increase on cigarettes to help plug state's budget deficit

You have to take out a second mortgage to be a smoker in this state.

75% tax on cigars, chew, and "other" tobacco products?!?!?!?
The way he worked it in, it's either pass the taxes or shut down the government which means no payments to schools or local governments.

The Senecas will be right back in Court, too.

Time to move out of NY, and take out tax money with us.
