My tank is still usable. I made the mistake of making a juice with Spearmint flavoring from TFA. My tank is so cloudy now I can't even see inside and I cannot get the crappy spearmint taste out of it. I've soaked it over night in PGA and I can still taste spearmint. I just made an order from Cloud 9 the day before I tried the spearmint...otherwise! Dangit!

It is a brand name but the composition is also different and it's supposed to be more durable. It'll still cloud and crack but I've seen some posts that suggests it might stand up to more juices than polyurethane. I don't know if that's a fact or not though.

They're out at the moment but Ultra Mist has a good price on the polyurethane one in case anyone wants to bookmark it.

Have you tried the steel section? I don't like the idea of not seeing the juice, but I plan on trying the steel section when I get my unit in. Once I'm familiar with how it goes, I'm thinking it shouldn't be to hard to use.

You mean Polycarbonate, don't you? That is what most tanks other than Pyrex, glass, & such are made of... Polyurethane is a completely different composite...

I got one here for my Tobeco clone and it fits well...I don't have a "real" Kayfun Lite but on the site it says it fits those

Kayfun Lite Style Clear Plastic Tank Section

Just taking a quick look at that tank, it looks like poly. The other is a more frosted looking piece, which is available on the EHPro version of the tank.

That said, if you're going to be using any juice that could potentially crack poly or another type of plastic, I'd suggest just using the other stainless tank piece. You may not be able to see your juice levels, but with the Kayfun, I've always noticed a drop in flavor when the tank is getting low. I've went through 6 tanks of juice in the past few days for testing and every time I've noticed a drop in flavor I opened it up and there was literally drops of juice left.

Not sure if that'll help you; you may not notice it as much as I do, but it's been a spot-on way thus far.

I usually get this "something is not right" feeling when it is time to re-fill. My main gripe with SS tank section is that I have to refill before taking it outside. No way of knowing if it's full, half-full or close to empty without... well... re-filling it.

Nope, I mean the makrolon (polycarbonate) MIGHT stand up to more juices than polyurethane (urethane). I said that because I've read some posts where the poster was saying they were doing ok on a juice that would cloud their clearo. I'd hate to risk a makrolon tank just to find out though.

I was mostly talking about durability though. Polycarbonate is supposed to be a lot stronger that polyurethane, and the tanks from tobeco and others are polyurethane.

I've done a few refills and as long as I don't go crazy and unscrew the top cap easy while keeping my finger on the fill hole, I never have any issues. The flavor drop make it easy to tell when it's time to change and like you, it gives you "the something isn't right" feeling. While that works for us, I've had others say they can't tell, so it doesn't work for everyone unfortunately.

Unless it's glass I think some juices may still crack or eat the tanks...

There's always a chance that some juices will crack plastic, but some tanks simply don't have glass tanks available, yet. I've not seen one for the kayfun or the kayfun clones, but given their popularity, I wouldn't be surprised if they become available.
