OK, so I'm pretty new to vaping. Started with a basic 510 "pen" style kit with a battery, USB charger, and 3 cartomizers. They all worked fine and I was sold on vaping. Great.
I then ordered a Smok mini gripper (for its convenient pocketability), along with two 2.4 ohm XXL cartomizers, and those work just fine.
Wanting something easier to fill than the cartomizers, and reading about others using the new Vision Nano clearomizers in the gripper (along with a short adapter), I ordered 5 of them from a UK online shop (will refrain from naming them yet, in case I'm in error somehow somewhere).
The first Nano I tried worked OK, but had rather muted flavor and not quite as much vapor as the cartomizers (using the exact same juice as being used in the cartomizers).
The second one produced the same amount of vapor as the first, but had a distinct burnt taste. I don't think it was dry firing, as there was plenty of vapor. Just tasted burnt. FWIW, I tried both sucking on it when off the battery and leaving it overnight, and ensured there was a bit of air at the top (filled about 4/5ths full), but to no avail. Nasty burnt taste every time.
The third worked very well, better than any of the cartomizers. Lots of vapor and great taste.
I haven't used the other two yet.
So wondering what was going on, I got out my digital multimeter and measured the resistance of all of them.
The three cartomizers from the original kit measure 2.2, 2.1, and 2.2 ohms. OK.
The two cartomizers ordered along with the gripper both measure 2.3 ohms (close enough to the stated 2.4 ohms). OK.
The first Nano measures 3.3 ohms. The second 3.4 ohms. And the third 1.8 ohms. The other two Nanos measure 3.4 and 3.5 ohms.
Huh?
My understanding is that the Nanos are supposed to be 1.8 ohms, and I'm thinking I've been sold bad clones or factory rejects. Or at least 4 out of the 5 are bad and I got lucky with the third one I tried.
Opinions? Suggestions?
