So a little back ground about my vaping experience. My first ever vaping device was a Protank with an Ego Twist. Then I upgraded and got an MVP. I went with the Protank because I do not want to ever have to worry about cracking and it was simple to swap out the coils. Then I got bored (being a technician) and got an AGA-T to mess with with an K100 on a 18650 batt.. I love it but it is for sure not for on the go. So as you see, my background is not too minimal and I have had a little experience, but now I am wanting to try my hand in the carto/tank area for an up coming road trip.

Here is the details...

I will be driving on a 16hr road trip and need at least a 3-5mL tank. I do have syringes from my AGA so side fill hole is not too necessary. I just ordered Krankberry and Nice Melons from fuZion and have a sample on the way from AVL. I am probably going to be ordering OrangeZilla and PurplePieman before the trip also. I do have some juices like the Unicorn Blood that I know wreck cartos, but I only use that one on my AGA. So basically I am saying that I want a tank that is Pyrex so they can hold up to some of the juices in the near future. As there are so many out there to choose from I figured I would ask here to get some input on some of the most recent. I have done a little research and believe that I want a flaired carto for a more securing lock-in carto.

Also, I will be buying a carto punch, but that being said....I am still confused on the single/dual coil. Would the dual help me better in my juice preference. Is the XL cartos going to make a difference either?

Thanks for the all the help guys! Trips in two weeks so I gotta find a good setup then a fast shipping place.

Dual-coil tanks put out more vapor. I haven't played with them much. They get mixed reviews. I would get some DC cartos and regular cartos just to be safe.

Here is a thread on tanks:

I'm just using a ProTank myself, and a dripping atomizer. You might take a look a RBA's as well.

Also there is a new ecig out that holds 3.5ml that I've been looking at.

How much do you want to spend? I ask because there are some really good tanks out there and since you want glass they are going to be a bit more.

I can't answer for the dual coil, but most of the problems I've had with cartos over the years is that sometimes you just get a junk one.

The xl cartos are nice because they hold more juice and the tanks are bigger so you can put more juice in them as well.

I've used the flanged (I think that's what you mean by flaired) and while they do help the carto from sliding too far down, it depends on the device you are using and the drip tip as far as how much the tank is going to move. I haven't had any issues with the tanks sliding down too far on my MVP but with that said, if you get something like a fluid tank from fluid vaper I don't think you will have much of an issue, they are pricey, but really well made and they have the protective cover so if the glass gets bumped you don't have to worry about it breaking.

I recently got my first carto tank from IBTanked. Its nice, I'm loving it so far. Pyrex, so no worries about juice cracking the tank, no leaks when out and about, & easy to fill once you learn how. I've been using Smok single coil LR in it so far and have no complaints. I'm getting some Boge F16 (cheap & recommended) for juices I dont have to worry about cracking the tank.

I love carto tanks & have a variety of them! I used Baditude's blog as a resource & guide when I started using them! He has all the info you should need there! I've never used dual coil but I've never had any problems with my single coil carts! Just make sure you get a tank filling tool if you get some that don't have the screw.

I'll second this...Baditude knows his cartotanks.

That said, I've tried dual-coil and single-coil and much prefer single-coil. They just seem to perform better IMHO.

As for tanks...if you're on a budget IBTanked is the way to go and you can get cartos in bulk from SureVapes (25 Boge cartos for around 21$ I think).

If you're willing to spend the cash then Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks makes some of the best Pyrex cartotanks out there. However, they are pricey at around $60 each depending on options.

I went with Mr. Baditude's advice as well, IB tanks and Ikenvapes cartos. The tanks are super nice; I have a few other "premium" carto tanks but reach for the IBTs the most. With all the extras that come with their tanks, it's hard to beat the price. I especially like the thin SS caps, looks cleaner and a bit more juice capacity. I would get a standard tank and an extra XL tube so you can use regular and XL cartos. I would also take a look at Ikenvapes cartos, I can't get one to flood, they put out gobs of vape and they last twice as long for me than Boges. And you can get a box of 5 of them for under 10 bucks.

I am another big fan of IBTanked carto tanks. If you buy the complete tank kit you get a carto tool that looks like a long drip tip. This does the same job as a Slap Yo' Mamma tool. Here is the 19mm XL tank with a Smoktech single coil 2.0 ohm XL carto punched four times along the bottom with a Siam Mods V2 carto punch. I use a very high percentage VG juice and this set-up will not flood or burn. Three holes will burn with my DIY juice. I get a good 18ml of vaping done with each carto before changing out.

A good punching tool means a lot when it comes to success with a carto tank. The Siam Mods V2 carto punch (from Phiniac) looks like a Smoktech carto punch but the resemblance ends there. The V2 has a stainless steel body with a 9mm bore almost twice as long. Produces good sized holes with minimal distortion. How-to-use video is here:

I think the largest carto tank from IBTanked is the 25mm XL. I'm not sure how much juice it holds.

The 19mm XL from IBTanked that I use will hold 2.0ml of juice in addition to the 1.8ml inside the Smoktech XL carto itself. However, the total capacity that I can vape is not 3.8ml. I refill the 19mm XL tank when it hits about the 1/3 full mark to avoid burning the carto so I add about 1.5ml at each refilling. Once you get the knack of it refilling takes about two minutes but again you will need the right tools: like a syringe or syringe bottle for fast and no-mess refilling and the tank refilling tool.

I love ibtanked and have 2 of them currently. Tjey do work as well as they say, and I will definitely be ordering more soon. Best suggestion is to figure what size you want, buy a couple, and then you can buy the replacement glass for about $12 with the cool coloring. They look beautiful, but they will break if you drop them too hard (even on wood).

I use carto tanks almost exclusively and have tried most of them on the market, my two favorites are Phiniac and IBTanked. The Phiniac is a bit more rugged and I don't think you could break it if you tried and they also have the tightest fitting o-rings of any of the tanks that I have ever used. So there is almost zero chance of the tank sliding accidentally and spilling no matter what type of carto you use. They are expensive but you do get what you pay for.

IBTanked has some of the sleekest looking tanks and I honestly like the looks of them better than the Phiniac tanks but the o-rings are a lot looser and I have broken the glass portion of the tank.

Both company's have great customer service and personalization options. Just depends on what you are looking for. Both are great options.

I prefer single coil cartos I seem to have less problems with them and my battery lasts much longer than with a dual coil. Surevapes sells them in multi packs for a really good price.

Hope this helped and good luck finding the perfect set up for your road trip!
