Hello everyone, I'm new on the forum and hit my two month mark vaping and being analog free yesterday.
Since I found vaping has worked so well for me I want to try and have my friends and family stop smoking as well.
My first case is my cousin who is a 2-3 PAD smoker. He has tried vaping before with a pen style carto setup. Don't know what model I never saw it. He said he didn't like it because the hit was too small and he went back to analogs.
Now I have been trying to find the perfect setup for him, be wants clouds but doesn't know a thing about building coils. Any tanks you would recommend?
Should I get him a regulated device to be on the safe side? Any devices you would recommend?
I really think once we get the proper setup and nic dosage vaping can save this guy's life.

I would advise against spending a fortune on it and trying to get a perfect setup for him.

There are some very good starter kits that could probably do better than what he had though.

The ego twist is what I usually recommend for newbies. It has variable voltage, so if it's too cold or hot, they can adjust it up or down to their liking. It's a smaller form factor, people don't find it as cumbersome as a big mod, and the batteries last a decent amount of time.

I've also heard good things about the MVP, but I've never used one.

And for a topper, I've found that clearos are growing in me. I got my father in law a protank 2 mini and he loves it. Replaceable heads, which can be rebuilt or tossed (they're not super expensive) and bottom fed. And it looks good. The only problem we've had is the tank section is Pyrex... So it will break if it is dropped too many times. I also got him an evod in case he broke the glass (which he did after about 2 weeks). The evod uses the same coil heads. You can buy replacement glass, though.

In the same vein, I would suggest either the iTaste V3 or a Spinner over the Twist. Same price point but better functionality and options. I am not a fan of clearos, preferring a tank-carto set-up, but if you go the clearo route, as it would be simpler for a new person, if you get the right one, I would suggest the Aspire BDC set-up or the Aspire Nautilus.

Innokin iTaste VV ( V3.0) Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage Kit

Here is a Spinner/Aspire starter kit:

I'm going to approach this from a different perspective... based on the lines in your inquiry that stand out to me.

"Clouds" require a few things... lower resistance and the current output to support that resistance. As he doesn't build coils at the present time, that leaves pre-made, replaceable atomizer heads at worst, and pre-made coils at best. For now, lets stick with atomizer head assemblies, and the tanks that use them.

I'm not going to provide links... I'll assume you know how to Google just fine. ;-)

The Kanger Aerotank - models Mega, Mini and Giant. To keep things simple, we'll leave that dual head abomination they just came out with out of the running for now.

Kanger has introduced low resistance coil head assemblies... nothing super sub-ohm, but low enough to require decent power output.

So, with the low resistance atty out of the way, now we need to provide current. Aesthetics and price point enter in, so I'll keep it simple and point out a few 30 watt APVs that won't break the bank.

Both clones, they are the Cloupor DNA 30 box mod, and the Tobeco DNA 30 18650 tube mod. Both allow "set it and forget it" wattage output modes, with sufficient amperage output to support resistances down to 0.5Ω net.

To keep things simple, both APVs - along with several other styles and output levels - as well as the Kanger Aerotank models, are available from on-line vendor, Vapor Tek.

That's it... best of luck.
