This is why I stopped using the Subtank. I just couldn't get used to the heat of the vape.

Weird. I'd just rather stay at 3.4 but that is way too low. It hasn't shocked again. I wonder if I should open and drip some juice into it again since this is the first time I have actually tried to use it at the rated wattage instead of following a stupid chart. Like maybe since it was so low it just kind of dried out and needs more to get it flowing right? But if it stayed hot for you and it does for me... this is really hot. I do like the heat but not this. Grr... so I have wasted all day playing around with it at the low voltage to get it just right for nothing. *sigh* I gained XP I suppose. =)

I can say that the heat of that single draw has loosened up so much crap in my lungs. LOL. Have you ever wanted to see what your lungs really look like? A camera and actually able to tell the doc to "zoom in here" or "look over there". I think it would be interesting and terrifying at the same time.

I suppose it would look something like this (end of the scene).

You wouldn't get a dry hit from being too low in power. The possibility of a dry hit comes if you have the power set too high. When I first got the iStick, it took me two whole days of trying different tanks at different power settings until I figured out which ones worked for me. But look on the bright side. You've been so busy trying to figure it out, you probably haven't been thinking much about smoking an analog.

I didn't like the 'hot' vape when I first started using my Subtank, so I put a long driptip on it and it was perfect. Once I figured out how to lung hit comfortably, I managed to open the airflow up the whole way and the vape isn't bad. I don't push my wattage much. With the 1.2 ohm coils I'm at ~18 watts and the 0.5 ohm coils I'm around 22 watts. I've only gotten a dry hit when I forget to prime the coil with juice. Even chain vaping isn't bad, although I did get a little Nic sick until I dropped my Nic level. lol.
You'll figure out where you need to be.

i just started vaping a few months ago and haven't smoked a cigarette since. I was recommended to get a innokin itaste mvp 2 with some i30 clearomizers. I enjoyed vaping it so I decided I'd buy a provari mini with some kayfun clones and I'm really enjoying the provari with the clones. If you know vaping is for you go with quality gear.

I don't push my wattage much.... I'm around 22 watts.

 22 watts isn't "pushing it"?

I've never gone over 12 watts in my sigelei, and only push my Vamo up to its max 15w because it's so awfully underpowered. 22w is indeed pushing it. I mean...

If the vape is too hot... TURN IT DOWN! There's nothing to be gained in finding out what a charcoal wick and burnt juice tastes like.

Lol Andria,

But the kanger subtank 1.2 is rated 12-25w so in this case 22 is well below 25. I really just prefer it at 4.2v. I am seriously considering just hanging out there. It was working keeping the cravings for analogs at bay. What damage am I doing if I do that? Other than killing the coil faster. Is it bad for the battery?

Oh yea...and Tom Baker will ALWAYS be the best Doctor! lol. After that, I like MS and PC.

Paramaniac,

The doctors are all awesome in their own way. I love the show. I'd also have my daughter sucked into "The Borgias" on Netflix but it is very adult. She and I both got stuck on Sherlock. BBC is great except for the low episode factor in their series. You just can't get enough. :(

Alright all,

I broke down and asked my dad. He's a super genius when it comes to electronics and technology. Had been building stuff from scratch for my entire life. You should see the circuit boards he designed when circuit boards were a gleam in their mother's eye! Anyway, he said that it does no damage to atomizer life or battery and if it helps to keep the subtank at 4.2v and works how I need it then it isn't a problem. So I am going to stick with that. It kills my cravings so I am satisfied. :) Now back to nautilus to find the sweet spot there. Love you guys! You are so awesome. This is going to work. I need one of those counters to show me savings of analogs. I was discouraged about the wattage but have renewed faith now.

Pam,

Like your dad said, it is well within the limits of the iStick 50 and well within the limits of the Subtank Mini, so you will be fine and won't be harming anything. At a higher power setting, you will just be using up your juice a lot quicker.

FWIW, I broke down while I was out today and picked up a second Nautilus Mini and an iStick 30. This time I originally wanted the blue but they only had black, silver, and pink, so I went with the silver instead. I plan to use the 50 around the house and the 30 when I go out.

I plan to get another istick but vapor authority seems to be out entirely. I guess I lucked out and got the last one lol. :)

I was also a heavy smoker. Tha Aspire Atlantis lets you do a straight lung draw, giving a 'full' feeling in the lungs.it also gives a huge flavor blast. I think it is about the best you can do without buildinv your own coils. It costs around $50, but, being such a heavy smoker, you will go through a coil in a day or two, so buy several ($5 each).
The Atlantis will work fine on a mechanical mod (the battery part) as long as you use a good battery such as Efest. It also works well on the IPV mini, which sells for around $70. I use an Atlantis on an IPV mini daily, along with an RBA on a mechanical mod.
Don't give up. Your lungs will thank you for switching.

Not really bad for it, with a 1.2 coil, though the more power you draw, then obviously the faster it runs down, but I hear that battery life is fantastic, so not a real issue I suppose. That coil, at 4.2v only comes to 14.7w, so it's not a great deal warmer than I usually vape.

It's very hard for me to wrap my mind around these higher wattages, with the style of vaping I like (and can tolerate!), lots of power wouldn't be a great thing. I like a tight-ish draw, not too much heat (just warmth is good!), and not too much vapor or it chokes me or gives me an asthma attack. In fact all day today I've had this annoying dry cough, that hairball feeling I always get from too much VG, though I'm vaping 83%-84% PG all the time. Was thinking of mixing up a small amount around 86% PG and vape that tomorrow, if it's still bothering me. Couple of recipes I want to try out anyway, and I should have my new supply of DX Bavarian Cream tomorrow, or so the tracking page says, anyway. You probably know by now how that goes. :D

I dumped my "Fire and Ice" liquid today and cleaned out the nautilus mini.It just didn't have any flavor for me. Reloaded it and the Atlantis with the "Tiger's Blood". Out of the three, the Atlantis has amazing flavor. I actually am getting that "drinking it" feeling on the exhale. I am not sure if it is the "sub ohm" that is causing that or just the tank. Meaning that if I put the sub in the kanger will it do the same with the flavor. Not messing with it right now though. Still exploring to find the "sweet spot" on all three. I am not making any more changes until I get that covered. My lungs are doing some spring cleaning right now. I have been coughing up a storm this evening. But I can only see that in a positive light. I can't wait to use the remainder of this liquid so I can do something else. I want to see what a more premium liquid is like. This brand is called "Flavorful" and I suspect that she mixes much of it herself. $7 for the bottle was nice. But I presume that a better brand will have even more flavor. =) I have decided that this battery is small enough that I am not worried about getting a tube style anymore. I considered getting the IPV mini 2 just to be able to charge this if needed. But found normal (not mod) battery packs are cheaper. Found a PNY one that has 10400 mAh. No purchase yet but have it on the table and have signed up for email notification on the restocking of another iStick. The Atlantis doesn't pop or crackle at all. The other two do it pretty much every time I take a drag. But I am satisfied with all three and will use them until I am out of heads. I might stick with the Atlantis because it does give so much more flavor. But I have a few days of use before I have maxed out the usefulness on all three tanks so I will be able to make a better decision then. =)
