so basically i went to the cvs pharmacy and asked for some blunt tipped needles for my diy. they only have the sharp ones and those freak me out. he suggested i go to a lab supply shop down the street. they didnt have needles, only syringes..... i would like to start my diy soon so if i could find a local place for needles that would be great. not trying to buy online.

where can i acquire blunt tipped needles to attach to my syringes for my diy? Im in southern california btw if that helps any. thanks!

i tried popping off the drippers and the syringe is just lightly larger than the opening. i tried tilting the flavor sideways and having my friend plunge up the flavor but that just ended in a mess... lol

any confirmed shops carry blunt needles?? :(

Huh. I never ran into one that small. Do you have a Tractor Supply by you? They carry livestock supplies and should have blunt tip needles. The only other thing I can think of is to use a disposable pipette to get into your bottles with the dropper popped off and drip that into your syringes (hold your finger over the end or keep the cap on) until you find some.

If you have a dremel cut the points off the sharp ones. Even if you don't have a dremel you can chuck a grinding wheel into a regular drill.
If you have farm stores around they would probably be cheaper and have larger gauges than human stores would have.

I've done that with a dremel works great. I'm in a more rural area that has lots of horses so finding bigger guage needles was pretty easy.

How hard do you think it is to grind the tips off?

It’s not much of a chore if you mix once in a while and don't use a large selection of needles for mixing, filling or different syringes for different flavors. If you’re going to order syringes anyway why not order blunt tips in the first place. I can understand if you need to get them locally and have few options on where to get them or don't want to wait for a shipment. But if you have opportunity and it's not an inconvenience then it would make sense to order exactly what you need. To me it's all about convenience. But that’s just my 2 cents.

I can see if you're already ordering but they're so cheap if you're not ordering shipping could double the price.

For DIY one wrong flavor can ruin a syringe instantly and leave you needing one fast. Needles are more indestructible.

I could see it if you don't have a dremel, drill or grinder. It's probably not worth buying anything to do make sharps into blunts. But for me grindy stuff is my business. It's much easier to drive to TSC and pick up a bunch and grind them.

There are no right or wrong answers and all the suggestions given are excellent. It all boils down to what is the best solution for the individual. Needles are not as consumable as syringes and if one is needed in a pinch a local source makes plenty of sense as does ordering online when ordering flavors or other supplies.
