.jpgHello all, thanks for reading.

I started vaping on the Blu and loved it at first but realized I was ready for something more substantial.

I bought the Vivi Nova and a battery & also have an Ego battery that I can use (Here's a picture of my setup: imgur: the simple image sharer - the black battery was given to me by a friend and is from an Ego)

My problem is that unlike the Blu, which has minor throat hit and is VERY smooth, this has a very severe throat hit and literally hurts after 2-3 puffs. These are not large hits either, I have seen people blow CLOUDS of smoke with this device and I am taking a hit much smaller and still getting severe throat irritation.

I am not sure what to do. I have seen videos of people messing with the atomizers. I've seen batteries with adjustable voltage, and I've heard the pg/vg (whatever that means) of your juice can have a big difference (mine is not labeled.)

Any tips or advice you can provide would be nice. I really want to like this but it's simply not enjoyable to smoke.

I ordered some Johnson Creek e-juice because that is what Blu fills their carto's with -- hoping for better results.

Thanks for reading!!

Thoughts?

You might have to adjust how you're inhaling the vapor especially coming from a Blu. The trick is to hold the vapor in your mouth for a few seconds BEFORE inhaling. After that point some people inhale directly into the lungs and some exhale through the nose.

You CANT inhale your heavier duty PVs like a cigarette or its going to be too harsh for most.

what ohms is the vivi nova?
also, I am assuming that neither of your batteries are a twist.
thing is, blu imo had NO throat hit, and, shoot almost novapor, the batteries are not great.
Most juices are 50/50, that is what i stay with, a nice mixof flavor and throat hit and vapor.
Granted, i have let people take a toot off my PV and had them coughing over the throat hit...

JC I believe uses 100%VG. Especially if its from their red oak line. My brother used his Tennessee cured Johnsons creek juice in a vivi nova 2.5. It burned my throat as well. One of the causes that I found was that the JC being a 100%VG e-liquid, it's very thick. A bit too thick for the nova to wick. I was burning up the head on the nova with little to no vapor because of this. It gave off a horrible burnt popcorn taste. The tobacco/nut blend it has I don't like to begin with, but that's me. I'd say try switching atty head on the nova, fill it up with JC, and try putting in about 5 drops of distilled water in as well to thin it out.

From the picture it seems that your juice is 18mg. If that is the case perhaps you need a lower nic content. I started at 18mg @ 80/20 PG/VG, went to 12mg, then to 10mg @ 70/30 PG/VG and now mix my own at 6mg @ 60/40 PG/VG. I did the analog thing for 53 years and like most new vapers I went for the strength I thought I would need. Turned out that 18mg was way too strong.

Thanks for the input thus far - hoping for more advice other that the way I am smoking :p

I have tried hitting this thing every way possible-- french inhale, direct inhale, drawing and blowing some rings then inhaling after 5 seconds or so -- nothing is close to comfortable.

from what I understand, you don't even have to inhale to get the nicotine.... I might inhale every 5 or so times.
And, one of my friends had an automatic blu, and boy oh boy did I have to SUCK HARD on that thing. Or it might be the juice, but it's 18 mg right?

@pizza The smell of the vapor is pleasant with the Hawaiian punch flavor. It tastes just okay, I would say 6/10 but in comparison to the sweet tasting non-menthol Blu the taste is less than I would expect. Perhaps a bit burnt but I don't have enough experience to know how it should taste when working correctly.

All I know is when I watch this guys review, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swrctmOIPKk) he is RIPPPING his Vivi nova and blowing smoke out his nose while continue to drag on the device and I tried to imitate his hit and it's literally worse that anything i've ever smoked between cigars, hookah, cigarettes, etc-- very painful :p

Thanks for the responses guys! Will try adding in some drops of distilled water and low Nic content drops!

Does trimming the wick make any difference?

And in regards to JC Juice - Is there a juice that is less "thick" and wicks better with Vivi Novas?

I ordered a sample pack from JC with 10 flavors for $20. It has not arrived yet :(

JC's arctics menthol is PG base and a few others they have I believe r too. As for the ohms/resistance of your nova, it will be laser etched/engraved on the side of the atomizer head ( the nova kit comes with a 2.8, a 2.4, and a 1.8 head). Also, is there ALOT of vapor when you vape it now? Or just little to no vapor with that burning flavor?

You will have to take the Vivi apart to see the OHM's. Unscrew the top, remove the barrel, and then unscrew the head. The OHM will be printed on the side.

What level nicotine did you get with your juice? The higher the nic level, the harsher the throat hit. Purchasing juice that has a VG mixture will also lessen the TH. You may want to try a 70/30 blend at 18 mg and see if that smoothes it out a little. Too much VG will cause wicking problems, and possible dry hits.

Dry hits also include chain vaping. When you chain vape, you can run the head dry and get a burnt/harsh taste.

@Tiffany

Not sure what Ohms the Vivi Nova is - not seeing it on the box or the device anywhere.

I can't take strong throat hits as well... 6mg is my comfort zone. But sometimes the flavor u want comes only in mid to high mg. What I do is dilute my juice w pg and vg. Vg for clouds of vapor, pg is just there to thin out the vg. (in case juice becomes too thick to wick)
Granted, taste is compromised... But I'd trade that for a smoother vape. (then agn, that's just me.)

Haven't tried diluting w distilled water though, read somewhere that it shortens lifespan of the coils. Vg works for me... Just take slow long drags.... And remember to keep wicks wet!
