I didn't see this posted in the thread yet, but does anyone have any info on a new AW 18650 3000 mah? I noticed on RTD they just listed a new AW 18650 flat top that is 3000 mah, 20a continuous. I didn't see it there a few days ago.

New news to me, too. If this tests out as marketed, we have a new contender in the 20 amp category. AW already makes the top battery in 18350 and 18490/500 sizes.

Yea, not even RTD has an image yet. I'm going to order a few and give them a try. I was on RTD because I needed to order a few AW button tops for my friends Provari, and saw this new one. Unfortunately flat top for her, but I was going to order a few HG2s for myself. Might just get these instead.
I am a big AW fan, and think this is something that AW needed to do. Hopefully @Mooch will be doing some testing.

As long as they come from AW I don't care where their made. Received them from RTD on Saturday and I'm impressed how long they run above 3.9 V. Running them at 25 watts on a 0.4 build. Enjoy the day!

Previous batteries made in China...what do you think? Why the change? Wonder if testing will show any differences.
Well, here is the image. I see these are being made in Korea.
Randy sir said the distributors had been asking for a flat top for some time. If I had to guess they are probably "A" bin LG's. That is purely speculation on my part though. Enjoy the day!
Against many others opinions, I've thought for some time that AW made their own IMR battery cells in China. AW was the very first to offer IMR battery technology to the market, and are to this day about the only vendor selling IMR's in the 14500, 18350, and 18490/18500 size. You don't see Panasonic, Sony, LG, or Samsung offering IMR's in this size.
This new 20 amp CDR 3000 mah IMR battery from AW has better advertised specs than any other manufacturer's battery. I'm guessing that AW found a battery cell manufacturer in South Korea to make this particular battery for them.
It could also be a re-wrapped LG 18650HG2 3000mah 20Amp CDR. Independent testing with bell curve graphs of the two batteries could show if they are one and the same cell.

AW- In terms of cells these are the highest quality available. Andrew Wan used to work for Panasonic, developed his own company, and is the top provider of cells to flashlight users (and of course now vapers). He gets the top 5%* of cells from Panasonic, Sanyo, etc. Cells routinely last 500 charges or more if handled properly. Enjoy the day!

Firstly. I am excited to see a thread that is still active over a year after it's beginning.
Secondly, I am excited to so quickly see that someone else has a similar experience with their 18650 LG batteries, that is, I expected many more charges and uses out of my batteries than I have had before significant shortening of usage time

i got 2pcs of AW IMR18350 purchased 2 years ago, until now still strong and kicking well in my stealth vape setup - Le Petit Gros + Flat capped Kayfun Lite

The "new" AW 3000mah 20 amp battery wasn't available on the market yet when the P3 was introduced in the fall of last year, so I doubt Provape was able to test it against the other batteries available at the time. At that time, Provape felt that the Samsung-25R 2500 mah 20 amp battery was the best battery for the P3.
The new AW has 500 more mah than the Samsung, so you "might" get a little longer use between charges. Otherwise, they are very comparable to each other specification wise.
