I am looking for feedback on the “Category” change. I am not sure I like the way it works. This feature was requested and this was the only idea I could come up with.
Well, I think you're on the right track and I, for one, really appreciate the effort and time you're putting in to this!
This may be overkill, but I thought I'd open up a discussion for ingredient categories/subdivisions. How would you feel about 5 levels to your category system? Here's a quick rundown on how I'd do this. First, the 3 top levels:
- Base - this would be PG, VG, Distilled Water, PGA, and Nic
- Flavoring - Only flavor concentrates in here
- Adjuncts - sweeteners, saline, EM, Lemon, ACV, Magic Mask, Bitter Wizard, and so on.
Under the Base category, would be my 2nd level of PG, VG, Distilled Water, PGA, and Nic, 3rd would be the manufacturer's description, and 4th the Manufacturer, and 5th my Vendor.
For the Flavoring category, my 2nd level of would be flavoring type (beverage, dessert, baking, candy, etc), 3rd would be the manufacturer's description, and 4th the Manufacturer, and 5th the Vendor.
Finally, for the Adjunct category, my 2nd level of would be adjunct type (sweeten, sour, mask, enhance), 3rd would be the manufacturer's description, and 4th the Manufacturer, and 5th the Vendor.
Examples:
Category 1 | Category 2 | Category 3 | Category 4 | Category 5 |
Base | VG | Pure Glycerin USP | CVS | CVS |
Base | VG | Glycerin USP | Humco | Walmart |
Base | PG | Propylene Glycol | Element 6 | Amazon |
Base | Nicotine | 36mg Nicotine Solution, 100% PG | Wizard Labs | Wizard Labs |
Flavoring | Dessert | Pie, Boston Cream | CA | Vapure |
Flavoring | Beverage | Tea, Chai | TFA | Wizard Labs |
Flavoring | Fruit | Apple | LA | JoAnn |
Flavoring | Tobacco | Tuscan Reserve | FA | Pure Vapes |
Adjunct | Sweeten | EZ-Sweetz | EZ-Sweetz | EZ-Sweetz |
Adjunct | Sour | Apple Cider Vinegar | Great Value | Walmart |
Adjunct | Mask | AAA Magic Mask | FA | Pure Vapes |
Adjunct | Enhance | 0.9% Saline Solution | Homemade | N/A |
Again, I understand this may be more than most would use, but it would help me keep items with similar names separate and also keep track of the vendor from where I last purchased it. Anyway, food for thought...
