I decided to upgrade to an 'alien device', as my son calls them...

I bought a Georgie 2.0 from Zerocigs - I tried it in the store, tried a bunch of eliquids, decided I liked the cherry and the butterscotch best so bought those... It worked great in the store! Guy showed me how to fill up the little tank gizmo... everything seemed great. Took a hit, and it tasted burnt and hurt my throat. Guy said that was normal; that it would take a few hits before that went away - something about it being new and the wicks doing something-or-other. Okay, no problem, except the burnt taste isn't really going away, and it's hurting my throat, and to a lesser extent, my mouth as well.

What am I doing wrong?

Here is the website for it: NEW - GEORGIE 2.0 Starter Kit

I have no idea what any of these device parts are called, I just know that the guy had me try the same exact system in the store and it didn't taste burnt and wasn't irritating to my mouth and throat.

Thanks for trying to help me out! I'd hate to think that I just wasted $46!

Look like This is what you got.
2013-6-25-14254369733.jpg

It's a simple EVOD kit.

Seem like you are not getting liquid in to the coil. Try pulling (vaping) without pushing the button and then vaping with pushing the buttom. Does it do better ?

Come back!

He filled it up for me at the store, to show me how to. He said to wait a few minutes before using it - he said something similar, about it needing to soak up the juice. After we completed the sale, I tried it right there in front of him. I told him it tasted burnt and it hurt my throat; he said that was normal and that it should go away after a bit. That was over an hour ago and it's still tasting burnt (though not as badly now as the first few times), and is still irritating my throat.

It is possible that you have a Hi NIC liquid. I would go back and have them give you a lower NIC level ejuice OR.. Have them check out the tank itself and see if that is having problems.

Only good reason to buy from local store is they can give you customer service. I would just buy it for 10 bucks online if they won't give you good customer service?

Agree!

Cheers

If it tasted burnt in the store, then I'm guessing that's just the way your combo is going to perform.

I'm a newbie too, but here are some off the cuff suggestions:

-diluting with a flavorless juice.
-different nicotine content
-higher resistence head

The first two are if it's a problem with the juice. The last one is to effectively lower the power of the device. Since it's not variable voltage, increasing the ohms in the atomizer head will have that effect, I think... not sure if it will fix your problem, but it is a place to start.

The only other thing I would point out is that the device someone else linked looks exactly like the kangertech evod... I don't know if this means anything but I can say that I've had really good luck with mine. I would look into the device itself if the ohm thing doesn't work out for you. Could be this is a poorly made knock-off? Of course, they could be legitimately licensed from kangertech... hell, I don't even know if kangertech is the company that manufactures them, or if they licensed it from someone else. Now, even if it is a knock off doens't necessarily mean that it's a bad product, but I'd look to see if anybody else had issues with that brand and device.

I am not familiar with the device you purchased. However, if it is like the devices pictured above it could be that the carto (the part that holds the e-juice) got burned when you first fired for the first time at the store without the filler material inside the cart being properly saturated. PBusardo has a video that shows what happens to carts if they are not primed properly if you want to see what the problem could be.

If that is the case, and depending on the design, you may never get that bad flavor out of that cart. I would suggest filling a new cart using the tips available via YouTube videos or the tips on this site on how to properly "prime" the cart to help prevent this type of issue and try again.

Good Luck! :vapor:

I'm on 11 MG nic... the guy said that was equivalent to light cigarettes? I used to smoke Marlboro Menthol Gold 100s. I've used higher nic before with the cigarette lookalikes without any problem... it might be a problem with the liquid, but I'm not so sure it's the nic content that's the problem.

Weird thing is, I tried about 12 different liquids in an identical system in the store and it was perfect! I was so excited to buy it because I was really just that impressed! Then I actually plop down money and I can barely use it! I'm about ready to cry! :(

Ok. That's a rebranded Kanger Evod system. Those are really good performers.

Step 1. Disconnect your tank gizmo (the Evod clearomizer) from the battery. Turn it upside down, and unscrew the base from it. Put the tank gizmo someplace where it can stand upright.

Step 2. Unscrew the coil from the base. Grasp it by the vertical thingie and turn left. Wash that and the base in some really hot water. Let them both soak for about 30 minutes.

Step 3. Remove the coil head base assembly from the water and shake dry as best you can. Go ahead, be violent. It won't mind.

Step 4. Replace the coil into the base (reversing step 1) and let that sit a few minutes.

Step 5. Screw the base and coil onto your battery (make sure it has a good charge). Don't attach the tank gizmo yet. Mash the fire button and hold until it blinks. You should see some steam arising from the airshaft. It might smell bad, but don't worry. Repeat 1-2 times, then rinse that base and coil assembly again.

Step 6. Smell the liquid in your tank to make sure it doesn't have that burnt taste. If it does, pour it out and give the tank itself a rinse. Screw the base and coil into your tank gizmo. Turn the gizmo right side up, so that the liquid has a chance to mix with the water already on the wicks.

Step 7. Attach your tank to the battery, and very carefully vape it.

Here's a good way to learn the difference between smoking those nasty, stinky cigarettes and how you should be using your new personal vaping system.

Slow down, we will try to help you figure this out.

That setup is rebranded parts lots of people use on this forum.

Evod tank
Ego battery

Did you get a second tank? Or replacement heads/atomizers?

Try the second tank, or replace the atomizer. Could be just a bad atomizer.

The filling and waiting is important, but 5min is fine. Puffing on it without pressing the button helps this too. The wicks have to soak up some juice.

Worst case scenario is the juice delivery system (holds and vaporizes the juice) is the problem. There are so many different options available. I don't know what your battery threading is but it may be 401
I just hope you didn't enroll in their "refill program" as they're usually expensive. Their juices are not cheap...should be able to buy 30 ml of juice for about $10-$15.
In regards to the burnt taste some have a sensitivity to PG...
Zerocig - 80/20 PG to VG
Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 5- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG BUT some lower that ratio down to 50/ 50 PG/ VG or less.

I'm pretty sure that's a rebranded Kanger Evod setup. The battery looks just like my Kanger 900 and the clearo is obviously an Evod. It's a regulated battery and delivers 3.7v constant voltage.

A good cleaning and dry burn, and a rinsing afterwards, will probably address the issue.

It does take a few minutes for the wicks to soak up liquid, but using wicks wetted with water and adding liquid to the tank usually prevents the dry hit issue she's describing. I'm betting that it didn't come with any additional coil heads and that the store expects her to come back for replacements.

SOP for brick and mortar joints.

Thank you so much for trying to help me out with this! I feel like a ..... (<--this wasn't a bad word, but I guess it was against TOS? Sorry about that!), though, as I'm struggling to understand even the simplest step-by-step instructions. I think I know what part you're referring to that I should clean with hot water, but I'm not quite knowledgeable enough, nor brave enough to attempt it. The guy said there was a 7 day warranty on the tank gizmo... maybe I should just go back and ask for a new one? Did I mess it up somehow by vaping on it too soon and/or too hard at the start? I'm not a heavy hitter, but maybe it was too much too soon?

You're not dumb, and yes you are brave enough. These things are made of metal. They're hard to break.

You did pay a nice premium for that setup, and if the store offers a warranty, there's nothing wrong with taking it back and explaining the problem you had with it. It is NOT normal to get a burnt hit on an Evod that is properly set up, clean and filled with liquid.

At the very least, they should offer to replace the coil head. Those things cost them less than $1.

When you do get a replacement head, ask them for heads that are 2.2 ohms or lower. KangerTech (the manufacturer of your device) ships them with 2.5 ohm coils. That's usually too high. The 2.2 to 2.0 ohm coil heads are much better suited for newbies.

Try the step-by-step stuff above, tonight. If that doesn't work, take it all back to the store tomorrow, be courteous and tell them that you want this to work. You're a female. I live in a house full of ya. Y'all know how to get what you want. :)

They should have some condoms to use so the store guy could try yours to see if it tastes burnt to him.
If it doesn't taste like/work like it did in the store, definitely take it back. If they can't test it and tell you what's wrong, exchange it.
