A protected battery has a circuit board that disables the battery at a pre determined voltage during charging or discharging. A lithium battery can get very hot and possibly explode when it is discharged too low and then the user tries to charge it. If it is overcharged the same result can happen. Most of your quality chargers will also have a built in overcharge protection. Vapor production will be non existant well before the low point is reachedForgive me for my ignorance- whats the difference between protected and non-protected batteries? Obviously I should only be using protected with the Silver Bullet?
