Striker. My chrome "blem" fits perfect. And like you I was thinking, last chance for a chrome ProVari. As far as the "blemished" part goes, mine looks perfect, and I looked it over with a magnifying glass. :) I just figured it was the "ProVari" etching didn't take paint, but I really like the clean etched look. :)
That's awesome. And ya I was heart broke, and financially broke when I seen they where discontinuing, then lowering the price. Just glad they still had one for me by the time I could pull the trigger. Even got the Blue eyes I wanted. Good things come to those who wait. :toast:

That's what I've heard too. (haven't experienced this as of yet, but sure enough will no doubt eventually).
Pulling the top wire too taunt while tightening it to the post also will do this. It can cut into your wick just enough to cause a short, or it can bend the wick towards the post and cause a short.
Try twisting your wick a bit. If you can still move your wick with the twist pull, then it's not too tight. Twist moving the wick will also set the wire onto a hopefully non shorted oxidized area. (if oxidize is the problem due to too tight of coil and the coil cut through the wick's oxidiization).

Hope you get those errors fixed!
I so want to pick up a provari! They've scared me from the get go, ever since they first came out. Me and numbers do not get along... and me an menu's are even worse! You should see me with the stupid car radio/cd player. OMG! Just find a song!!
But I aim to get the Mini Pro soon, before we're stuck with hospital payments for the rest of our lives. First is the Precise + though. I've done made up mind AGAIN lol. (I like to confuse myself with various perpetually changing goals).

I just tighten the upper nut just so it will hold the wire then move the wick away from the nut and then tighten it up. Never an issue with it being to tight.

I decided to make the last two videos over on the tutorial. I really cut to much of the process out of the camera view. I might set up a real web cam so I can see just what the camera is catching. Its going to be a PITA but from video 1 to video 4 the views where less and less. I hope that's the only reason. Shotty camera work. I wanted to zoom in and up the quality to make a better view but I failed miserably. Stick with me guys I will get it done though. Not to happy about taking this set up down and starting over though. Dam second takes.

What dimensions you use for your mesh/wick?

1/2 of one of the sheets Jim sends (~40mm x ~50mm) rolled to just fit in the wick hole (using the allen key provided works pretty well as a rolling tool). That means they ship with 8 wicks (4x325 & 4x400) and since wicks are reusable and last about 6months, thats ~2 years worth...

(more cool wick info on the DIDex)

Edit: actually thats ~2 years of 325 and ~2years of 400, so a total of ~4 years free wicking

I haven't had a chance to view the last ones yet, just 1-3 I believe. Hang in there, I'm sure we'll all come drifting in soon. By the time you get those rerecorded, we'll probably just be setting down in front of the tube. :)

Stroke of luck. One of our Canadian members decided to sell his "Short DID" that he received 2 days ago. Needless to say, I jumped on it and am meeting him tonight to pick it up.

My one month of waiting and learning about this system just got compacted big time.

Super excited to get started. :)

Oh Hi Jim! No rush shipping out Order ID: 1749. Tomorrow or the day after is fine. ;)

ok so I looked through all the posts and continued to try with my DiD. I have oxidized the 400 ss mesh like 8x with water and 8x with pg. I wrapped the coils making sure they weren't touching and they were nice and tight, however it is saying E1 on my provari and I'm kinda getting annoyed. What else could be wrong. I've watched like 10 vids on it...I didn't expect it to be this difficult...

E1 - assuming Provari. Set the voltage down to 2.9v during setup. Helps to make sure the wick isn't touching the tank bottom (just twist pull up ~1mm). Also check to be sure the coil going between the wick and the center post isn't touching the center post or the brass nuts (I use a tooth pick to push them back if they are) and that the wick isn't leaning over and touching the brass nuts.

A lot of the short/hot spot issues go a way if the wick is isolated (oxidized really well and not touching the tank bottom or center post). That way current can only go in/out through the coil and all you need to do is adjust the coil with nudges & twists.

Hope it helps. Once you get it, it's like a "I shoulda' had a V8" moment and it gets easier from there. Post back if you're still stuck.

Should probably also note that wicks/coils take a little while to break in.

ok not DID related but thought i'd share anyway...

I am an absent minded dork!

I was sitting in the garden today playing with the dog....
Throwing sticks for Baya (my brown labrador)
Then she at one point brought me back my PROVARI!

(not a scratch on it, just some dog drewl)

That's awesome! Now you gotta teach her to fill the DID tank first

Classy, don't worry about it. I'm getting my DID as well so we'll get them fixed up at our next vape meet up. I'll bring a torch and plenty of supplies. Between the two of us we'll get it done just fine!

Pete !!!! Yay !!!!

This makes me sooo happy !!!
