Hmm, I've been using nothing but Kanthal A-1, but have some Kanthal A 30AWG, haven't tried the D though. Did you order your Sandvik Kanthal on Amazon? They don't list the length of wire you receive though...

I'd love to know the amount of length you get for the $20 as well if anyone knows

I think the DID and I are friends again. Took it to a friend's house to enlarge the air hole. we discovered the original hole was actually half blocked with a burr. Regardless of clearing it out, I still went with the 1/16 upgrade.

50 ft of kanthal for 20? eek

I pd. 20 for 200 ft and was told that was not the greatest deal

How unfortunate tybin, such late discovery of your burr phenomenon. It's been posted here several times but indeed these tips are often easy to miss in a thread this large.

Wow, that seems expensive. I pay ~$5/100ft Kanthal A-1 32 awg or 30 awg on eBay (when it's in stock). What makes that wire better other than brand name?

That's what I paid today too (5+ a little). I also bout a 12"x12" sheet of 400 mesh for 13.99 with free shipping. Ricky told me that was a good price and I jumped on it. I would've like to have bought from Jim but I was in need now.

Hey Mr. Mann. I got a 12x12 too and figure thats about a billion wicks. Or at least 100, which will last me a few years :)

Actually, I haven't even touched that sheet. I been using the stuff Jim includes and I haven't put a dent in it yet...

Ha! It's funny because before my DID arrived, I was fretting the fact that I'd only purchased a 12x12 sheet of mesh. Thought for sure I should've ordered more to stock up. Boy, glad I didn't.... I'm still on wick number two, and only because I wanted to try a "fat" wick this time. Can't see me needing anymore mesh for quite some time, as I too am still using the mesh Jim provided :)

These things are seemingly indestructible once up and running. I re-wicked one tonight that din't need it just because I wanted to play with the torch  I'm trying to be really patient and not look at my tracking number for the Minis, but man do I want to play with them...

So is anyone else looking forward to having a serial number and logo engraved on the regular DID top caps? Don't know why it means so much to me, but it does! Maybe it seems more personalized with the serial number, and the logo adds a bit of flare! Though it is nice to have one of the original DID's from the first run ;)
