hi all

so i finally made a wick with 4/3 coil that reads 2.0 ohms.. using 400 mesh and 32gauge kanthal.. no hot spots.. perfect glow..

but i get mad throat hit and not as much vapor as i do with a ce3 bottom coil..

i have the did mini and the hole is lined with wick when tightened.. are there other ways to increase vapor by manipulating wick and coil since hole and wick are already aligned..

thanks

If you are getting great flavor, and as you said mad throat hit, the wick might be what you could say is flooded. Try hitting a few times in a row with the airhole up towards the ceiling, that way any extra juice that's hanging around on the top cap will flow towards the lower end of the cap away from the wick. Try doing this perpindicular to the floor - when you are hitting it so as to not get any more juice into the wick. If that was the trouble, you can pinch the top of the wick together a bit, so it's not so round and it will not get as much airflow, nor as much juice when you tilt to vape. Hope it was that cuz it's an easy fix!

thanks for the tip.. it does seem to produce more vapor after 2 or 3 consecutive hits.. but i already have the wick pinched at the top..

could this be caused by too much mesh material or too thick of a wick? when i look at the wick from just sitting for a while it looks normal and not overly wet at all..

I Did my first DID W & C last night. I followed one youtube vid and DID the pre ss burn, three X burn after rolling (with out quenching), and three juice burns. I cut the wick a little too short and wrapped the wick four times. I found it a pain wrapping the coil with the stainless steel post and the wire-nut, since they have such a tall profile. And the top coil was really close to the top of the wick, since I cut it short. Firing it up, it always lit up the top coil first, and I think it mostly vaporized the liquid at the top. The ProVeri measured the oms all over the place from 1.0 to 1.9, and every time it gave me a "E" message I pushed the coils around, then it worked for a while -- then another "E" message. So I put the ST-DC back on the ProVeri.

Tonight I started over following the same steps, except when I DID the three X burn, I burned the wick a lot longer each time and used the water to quench it this time. Also after the juice burns, and trimming the wick right this time, I DID an extra burn on the coil side of the wick.
Instead of wrapping the coil on the DID, this time, I wrapped it (5 wraps) when it was on a paperclip, then put it in the DID and hooked it up. When I dry burned it, the top coil started lighting up first with the bottom coil quickly behind it and the three coils in the middle catching up last, and at that point they all glowed with the same hue.
The ProVeri says the coils are at a steady 2.4-5oms, and no "E" codes. The Flavor is "OK" and the vapor is average. I noticed that when the juice starts to bubble on the wick after firing a couple seconds, it starts bubbling on the top half of the wick, then shortly after, the whole wick.

QUESTIONS:
1. It has only been a couple of hours on this wick. What is the break in time?
2. Does the oxidizing process of the wick leave a taste that dissipates after using for a while?
3. Is 2.4 to 2.5oms optimal for a 5 wrap? What are the optimal ohms for a four and three wrap coil?
4. Is my description of this stable second wick and coil your experience also?
5. What voltage do you like to use with a 5 coil 2.4oms DID?
6. With your experience and expertise, is there anything else I need to do to make a perfect set-up with the DID?

Thank you for your help!

I use a piece of mesh in the refill hole. I can increase or reduce the amount of air.

@uma & @rwechsler
Guys thank you so much for the feedback. I'm kind of getting the hook now. With the Provari and DID i thought i was all set. Then i caught myself ordering another full DID and then a mini. Now i have a drawer full of cartos and tanks i'll probably never touch again after I tasted the DID. rwechsler, a lot of info you threw at me... great material to start the search.
The mini basically for me will be for meetings/work environment... so i need a mod that would look good next to a Montblanc ball pen if you see what I mean.
Thanks a lot for the info...

I would like to put it on record and exonerate the Titanide makers of any liability with regards to the unfortunate policy adopted by Cigaverte distributor. As stated in a very courteous mail I’ve just received, “Titanide aims to design, manufacture and sell quality mods around the world” with no regards to the political or religious convictions of its customers. They have also kindly offered their services directly, “short-cutting” any distributor.
The people at Titanide are obviously high quality people, selling high quality goods and I felt compelled to set the record straight for anyone out there left a bit disturbed by the little controversy raised earlier.
I think I found “the ONE”s :)

edit 24/9:
Cigaverte, shocked as well, is reporting this as an unwanted "bug" !? The list of countries received with the sofware comes built-in and they will try to correct it.
Tout est bien qui fini bien....

Another note a quick cleaning the DID's coils and Wick

I know we have touched on this subject endlessly, and depending on the juice, I can junk it up quick or slow. However I was using the method last described a few posts back, remove wick, dry burn coils, burn wick clean, re-juice and do a wick burn, replace wick. That was until I could not remove the wick without destroying the coil. The coil was a very good one, recently junked up and no long producing. So, I did it this way: Emptied the tank with hypo. Burned remaining juice off wick. When Coil was dry burning around the wick, I continued this for about 7 to 8 dry burns. I used a toothbrush and gently removed burned off gunk from coil. I dry burned it harder with the clean coil 4 or 5 times, then used a can of air and used short bursts against the wick and coil. Lightly brushed both wick and coil again, and wag-lah, re-filled, and it was back to perfect, looking clean and was accomplished with no break-down of wick or coil. Been using all day and its been great.

when i use the other nut to close off the 2nd hole.. i get dry hit after one or two hits.. if i leave the nut off i think my wick gets flooded because i have mad throat hit and flavor but mediocre vapor even with cap hole aligned with the wick..

is there anything i can do when making a wick to control over wicking? i do see the above suggestion of plugging the 2nd hole with mesh.. what about when building my wick.. am i using too much mesh?? should i make a mesh that is hollower?
