medical grade porous ceramic like that stuff used in the apex alpha res system? I am trying to find some of that to see if it would work. I will keep you posted
I use 38mm wide x 42mm long mesh for the wick. Results in perfect size after making the angled cut on one end.
Haven't tried the paper technique, but i would think thae coil shouldn't be too tight, probably just flush with the wick.
I can tell immediately if my Did is wicking properly -- the flavor is amazing. If you're not getting lots of flavor, make sure that you are properly preparing your wick. I quench 3x with water then 3x burn with juice, maybe it's overkill but it seems to work. The torch that I purchased makes it much, much easier. If anyone is using a lighter (as I was) it's worth the $25 to get a nice torch. Using the 400 mesh w/ 80% PG.
I'm not sure if they're the same but the 4.5ml tank needs no cutting. Here's a link at Facebook where it was discussed:@TheRem & hairball
Are these exactly the same tanks? Can't seem to find them in the UK or Europe.
TheRem: Your pic looks great, just to clarify, there's absolutely no cutting required. Have to know before ordering and I get stung for shipping etc....

I've been toying with the idea for a few months now, and I can't think of any health risks, only problem is finding a porous stone that's the right diameter and length, which is way easier said than done.
So you keep your fill screw out also.....is their a reason for this technique ? Better juice flow for wick/wicking, air flow, better/more flavor, etc... TIA for ant insight......take care
J
My reason was because i did read somewhere here on this forum that it would be better, think it was Dspin who replyed that over in the rebuildable attys forum. It does taste good and i got good wicking so i not gonna bother to put that screw in.
Im not sure if it would be better or worse with screw, im a genesis style noobie who reads alot lol.
Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking also. I honestly think that will probably be where we end up. Ceramic. It's temp rate is super high , much higher then we could ever give it, no shorting problem , and as long as it's designed properly with the right shape, diameter, etc.... and has the right absorbency rate for good wicking action then that would be the end all wick. (my opinion ofcourse)
