I can tell immediately if my Did is wicking properly -- the flavor is amazing. If you're not getting lots of flavor, make sure that you are properly preparing your wick. I quench 3x with water then 3x burn with juice, maybe it's overkill but it seems to work. The torch that I purchased makes it much, much easier. If anyone is using a lighter (as I was) it's worth the $25 to get a nice torch. Using the 400 mesh w/ 80% PG.

Agreed, torch is necessary IMO. I also like the 400 mesh best - I use all VG or 70% VG most of the time and the DID wicks it great. Think the 400 tastes better than 325 to me.

Now waiting on the mini.

medical grade porous ceramic like that stuff used in the apex alpha res system? I am trying to find some of that to see if it would work. I will keep you posted

Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking also. I honestly think that will probably be where we end up. Ceramic. It's temp rate is super high , much higher then we could ever give it, no shorting problem , and as long as it's designed properly with the right shape, diameter, etc.... and has the right absorbency rate for good wicking action then that would be the end all wick. (my opinion ofcourse)

That stuff that is called candles that is used in gas camping lights, it is soft like fabric but when heated becomes hard. The problem with it is it becomes fragile in the hardened state. If we could overcome that fragility we would be set.

We could roll the fabric to the desired size and never have a short again.

I read that a Filipino guy reckoned that he solved this problem but never heard another thing about it.

So you keep your fill screw out also.....is their a reason for this technique ? Better juice flow for wick/wicking, air flow, better/more flavor, etc... TIA for ant insight......take care

J

My reason was because i did read somewhere here on this forum that it would be better, think it was Dspin who replyed that over in the rebuildable attys forum. It does taste good and i got good wicking so i not gonna bother to put that screw in.
Im not sure if it would be better or worse with screw, im a genesis style noobie who reads alot lol.

Good job, very neat coil. What does that 5-wrap ohm out to again? I'm going to try that and perhaps even a 6-wrap version. Am I thinking clearly here that more coil/wick surface contact will produce even greater vapour, assuming your device can handle the resistance?

I was hoping for that. Someone did someresearch. Ceramic has some real bad health issues. :(.

This coil was reading 2.0 , yesterday i had a 5 wraps with 2.5, im not sure wat makes the difference. If some experienced genesis ppl would like to share some tips pending on those pictures it would be great. I would like some more vapour, getting noway near wat Jim is puffing out on his video, flavour is great.
First two days i wrapped my coils like scott bonner does in his review with the wick installed...i did get shorts very often that way. Today i tried a couple coils like Jim is doing in his video on page one and i havent gotten a hotspot since. For me its easyer to wrap the coils with the wick in my hands, can wrap more evenly like that. On scotts way i tend to put more tention on my first wrap wich is giving me shorts i think.
