Although I do appreciate the point and concern some may have on this topic, having already ingested unspeakable horrors from decades of analog addiction, getting a little juice on my nuts is among the least of my worries.

That's a Sig worthy statement right there folks...

I'm laughing so hard that I can't see!

Yes, brass is a much better heat and electrical conductor than steel

... and from what has been written about the SS wick system, the heat from the coil vaporises the liquid as it is drawn through the 'straw'. Contact with the brass pole conductor should be miniscul "

Honestly Brass may be for certain situations, but when you add eliquid to the equation I don't necessarily agree that Brass is better, if you take a look at another Genesis Atty that is on the market it is made from all 316L Surgical steel, and for a good reason, Brass does oxidize, I do believe there is a special Brass out though that wont oxidize as much as regular Brass. After all the investigation I have done I would prefer the all SS center pole Myself,, but I don't know how it will effect this particular unit how its made but dont think it will make that big of a difference in performance, just in oxidation, Though this DID looks like a good Genesis type of unit so I'm looking forward to trying it out to compare it with another one I have. All SS would still be my choice overall and I hope Jim makes this available and with SS nuts also, he did say he was going to do so in a earlier post for people who wanted them and add them to the website in a week.

With all due respects, the question you asked was 'Why the post should be made of Brass instead of Stainless Steel' and the answer is because of it's inherent heat transfer and conductivity benefits.

Jim DID (sic) say that he would address concerns such as yours by offering a Stainless Steel conductor pole. I am under the impression that along with the clear tanks, these should be available by this weekend. If it's a real concern to you, by all means PM Jim and ask when, he won't bite!!!

Edit: I've been reliably informed that in this instance, only the brass pole's conductivity properties make it a better choice than Stainless Steel......

Get over it MWA. If your want SS pin & nuts, wait & see if Jim comes out with them & go for it. If not, there's nothing to see here and just move along.

Oh wait, you still might get juice in your mouth.......well, maybe not, those weird DT's should handle that issue.

Hey Lazerrred , no need to tell me to move on, it's not a big deal, and Jim has already made a post that he will have these on his website in a week a bit back. it's all good, I'm going to use a DID with or without the SS pole, it's just nice to have a choice that's all. No need to get out of hand here, I like the looks of Jims product very much and think he's done a super job on it. I'm NOT the first to ask about this SS pole by far also. So Chill

STAINLESS STEEL pole and nuts would be cool and I'll definitely buy. :)

Really? Mine has been shipped on the 22th and it doesn't even shows on the Elta mail website. :glare:

I to am waiting for my DID, however I have not looked at the tracking site, or worried at all. Jim has shipped hundreds to the States and I think I can quote him as saying only 1 was lost in shipping. That is a better record than most domestic shippers. So I am content to wait for the mail fairy to drop the magic package into my mail slot one misty morning, when I least expect it, and enjoy the thrill. Bottom line, our fellowship of forum vapors, have all good experiences with this the shipping method, so don't worry, it will come. I have been on waiting lists for months, with other groups, foreign and domestic, trying to get a hold of a quality atomizer to no avail, so what's a few weeks more.

You are right, i'ts not a big deal and has been discussed on numerous occasions so why bring it up again. It's like the proverbial beating a dead horse. That's all.

If you can find a better atomiser, new, DID quality, DID popular, DID price and DID available, then pinch yourself son, you're probably dreaming !!

I hate to be the only person saying anything on the negative side here but Im a Electrical Engineer that works with tiny circuits, soldering, bilding chipsets, and repairing laptops for a living for Hewlett Packard, never in my life has something gave me so much of a issue. If someone can PM me or in somme way help me get to a point where more than just the top coil glows and I actually taste my juice just 1 time and not unflavored 50/50 nic juice Im more than willing to listen and get this thing going.....otherwise...I feel this thing is going to be in the classies VERY Very soon, 38 coils later wrapped every way they possibly can be wrapped for the amount of wick their is to work with and still nada, zilch, ZERO. Top coil is the ONLY one even remotely glowing. I've watched ALL the vids, looked at ALL the pics, Im as patient as a oyster but this thing has got me FLUSTERED !!!!!

I hope this doesn't come across as insulting but if you're and Engineer, as am I, then you should understand what a hot "top coil" is telling you. Isolate your whole wick and spread the tension evenly. I would say your shorting at the second turn on the coil straight to the wick. This is one of those reason why you need to fold the edges on your ss mesh. When you cut the mesh to size you get little ss hairs that will cause shorting.

Be patient as I even ran through my entire supplied heat wire. Thankfully I purchased a roll off ebay first. My problem was that I isolated the wick from the walls and wick of the DID but didn't even think about the bottom of the tank. The wicks frayed ends were touching the stainless steel bottom and shorting the loop to cause random burn outs and hot spots. Once I backed the wick a few mm away from the bottom and started folding two edges... everything worked perfect. Also, you can see about 1/10th of a mm between the inside of my coil and the wick. It may not even be touching the wick. It works perfect.

Anyway... just remember to isolate the wick completely with oxidization and positioning and get the the coil to almost float around the wick.

Maybe this will help. I never have problems doing it the way Zen does it, but this seems to help lots of people with coils.
