New Genesis type atomizer by DID!

I fully understand that. Mine have all been running problem free now for a good while. So tonight I recoiled them all just to keep in practice. Amazing how quick I was able to recoil compared to my first attempts. The quality of this DID is amazing. Your vaping stock sounds like mine, I even have baggies all made up with 400, 325, and 270 mesh wicks. I have hundreds of lengths of kanthal precut in a large medication bottle (perfect heingt to house my kanthal without bending it).

Oh my heaven!!! Dust has formed on my 5000 foot roll of kanthal, my 50 sheets of ss mesh sit idle on my work station. My blow torch has the blues, why you ask? Dread day, I must say it: STABILITY! My current coil and wick work so well, tinkering has all but ceased. I now only get to glimpse the wondrous innards of my beloved DID, once a day. A quick shot of my favorite nectar, close cap, and vape plumes of thick aromatic vapor. This has been going on for 10 days, 10 days without hot spots, popped coils, harsh vape or any related problems. My days of carrying a needle looped in my collar, or the allen key tucked away in the coin portion of my jeans. A spare bit of kanthal wrapped around the hidden button on the inside of my shirt, have come to an end. I guess I'll have to go put my feet up, grab my DID, have a cup of, and contemplate the wonders of life.

Okay, so it's time for me to order new juice (well, not new but restock the old) and I am a bit gun-shy. I normally vape 18mg+ but since The DID is coming I am thinking that maybe I shouldn't order so much in high mg. Decisions decisions! Any advice out there? Does anyone actually vape 18mg out of their DID that's not in a coma?

Make sure you order a lot. I went from 18mg at 50/50 to 15mg 30/70VG and I vape 3 tanks a day. Slowed down to one tank today though. I had heart burn from hell when I woke up this morning.

Strange how we all get different results. I do a 3/4 wrap on fat wick and run at 2.2 ohms on all my DID's a 4/5 wrap nets me a 2.8 ohms. I am using 32 awg a1 kanthal

I use a 3 wrap, 32 a1 kanthal, fat wick, just able to get into wick hole, 400 mesh. I ohm out at 3.0-3.2 every single time.

I would do a 3/4 wrap...o. a fat wick it will bring you in at 2 ohms +-.2. That will be perfect at your preferred voltage. I do 4.3 volts on 2.2 ohms and have plenty of vapor.

IMO, every wick, coil combo will be different in it's on subtle ways. Roll the wick, wrap it with a few coils (or more, esp with VV ) and vape it. Give it and yourself some time to "short" it out and vape it. In due time you will find you special place.

I agree with Overall... and if the 3/4 is too cool, just unwrap the top coil and vape it at the warmer LR. It's easier to subtract a coil than it is to add.

32 Gauge is it - 3 or 4 wraps you will be fine.

I was always straight 24 or 26 nic. I can't do those in genisis - 32 G 3 wraps. I had to drop to 12 nic. All is good though, now I use 12 nic in my other RBA's

Why not wait to see what you like - Jim sends 400 and 325 mesh. More than enough to make a minimum of 8 wicks

I find the best flavor is with the 400 - I use all VG or 70% vg

Grrrr.. can't find 34 gauge Kanthal A1 anywhere that I can order today. HELP ME!!

400 and 325 mesh, I'll order from the Mesh Company unless somebody can find me a place that has both the 34 and the mesh.

I plan on running around a 2.5 - 2.8 ohm coil so figured the 34 would be better than the 32. I am correct in this assumption right?!

Hold on now. I thought 3 - 4 wraps of 32 a1 kanthal netted you around a 1.8 - 2 ohm coil. Does the fact that you fat wrap, make the difference?

Yes, because the wick is 3.5 mm, one of the biggest in genesis models, more coil, higher ohm. Plus, remember, I am building my coil on a drill bit larger than the wick hole, even more coil.

Again, I am using even more coil on my 3 wrap, because I build it in a drill bit larger than the wick hole. I do this because I like to remove the wick, leaving the coil attached, for dry burning and cleaning. Also helps me avoid hot spots because my wick sort of floats inside my coil rather than being bound by it. I get higher ohms, allowing me to run my volts at 4.7-5.2, I quickly can remove wick for cleaning and re-oxidizing if needed, I got the idea from peter k method of wick building only I use an oxidized wick rather than his method of non-oxidized wick. Works for me, but everybody has their own way of doing things, trial and error became my best friend, at first, now I've settled in.

Heads up with coinswek, last time I bought my 32 kanthal, I Kept missing his auctions, so I wrote him using the ebay interface and begged a bit, to see if I could get him to sell directly to me. He would not, but he did give me the exact time he would start his next auction on what I needed. I think it was 7:00 am on a Tuesday, if memory serves, I was ready, and true to his word I think 30 lots of the kanthal went up for sale, got mine in the first minute, by 7 minutes past they were gone. Popular stuff.

You are indeed very organized. I on the other hand am a mess. I probably waste a foot of kanthal because the stuff springs off my roll and I end up kinking the heck out of it to get it back on. I like your idea of pre cutting a bunch, might have to try that, thanks for the idea.
