Okay, I managed to get a pretty awful macro pic with my phone. Can barely see the twist here, though.

I tought one needed 34 AWG khantal for twisted coil ?! And isn't 1.0 ohms way too low to even vape on it ?! I'm confused but excited to try it. And how do you twist it? Videos?

Uh oh! I didn't remember about the 34, I guess. That would've made it easier. I actually have some 34 Nichrome here, maybe I'll try that.

You would think 1.0 ohms would be too low, but rwechsler (and a few others I think) wrap their coils at like 0.7 ohms. And there is a small amount of current that gets absorbed by the DID body, if I remember/understand correctly, so the thing in practice is probably higher than 1 ohm.

I'm not really set up to do videos, unfortunately. All I did was fold about 4 inches of Kanthal in half (wanted to have lots of room to work), and I just held the looped end in my right hand and twisted the loose ends around each other with my left hand. Once you're holding it in your hands, you'll instantly get what to do.

I need to wash mine. Its been acting strange and the taste is also not the same. First I thought it was my wick so I changed it. Put a new coil in and its still not working out. Im afraid the center post is going to break on me but at this point I have no choice. The green sludge is balling up at the battery connection. 8-o

Green sludge! Oh crap! When you say the battery connection, do you mean the part of the post that's outside the tank, the part that actually screws into your mod?

I'm running 34 ka1 ( I think that a 0.16 metric) on a 3/4 and it meters around 1.7ohm. I twist a couple feet of wire at a time using a drill with a hook I made out of a piece of coat hanger. Not sure if it matters, but with a drill they come out completely uniform and much tighter than the pics.

I just made a twist coil with 2 pliers, it's beautiful, however it doesn't fire at all o_O
It registers at 1.0 ohms on my lavatube 1.5, help?

Not sure what the LT 1.5 switch tolerance is, but even at 3.0v, 1.0ohm is pushing 3 amps. You may be hitting the safety switch limit.

I think the switch is rated 2.5 amps, not sure though. But that would make senses, I made a new coil, having trouble with it, it only fires at 1.4 ohms, if it's below it says 'Lo', probably as in ohms too low to fire.

Well, no twisted coil at 1 ohms for me :\

I'm using a Young June V2 "LavaTube," the amp limit of which is supposedly 4, but my setup totally fired on it. I did get the "LO" light, but while it was firing. Do you have another big battery mod? My Bolt with an 18650 seems to be playing nicely with my twisted 1 ohm coil.

Even if you can't get it to work, I think not being able to do twisted coils is fine. The DID rules with boring ol' untwisted coils, too. As soon rwechsler's video goes up and I have time to watch it, I'm gonna be tearing down this setup (and maybe keeping it in a little baggie or something) and attempting to ape what he does. ;) I don't really see myself sticking with a single coil for much more than a day, not anytime soon anyway. It's just been too fun to fiddle!

Nope not anymore, except for lavatube 1.0 which has an amp limit of probably something around 1.5, it's even worse, well I'll just keep my twisted coils for when I buy a new and better PV (soon!).
I"m in the same boat, we can sail the Seas of BooHoo together. You row though.

There should be 2x325 & 2x400. They look a lot alike to me also, but it you hold them near a light (so get some reflexion on the surface) the 325 looks more "liney" (for lack of a better word) because it is more course. The 325 also feels a little less flexible and 400 is a little smoother. I've had good wicking with both regardless of juice (any where from 50pg/50vg to 100%VG)

Something I just stumbled upon (adapted from CW's advice): To determine which mesh you have in your hands, hold both of them up and look through them onto your computer screen. Keep the non-looking eye closed and move back slowly. The 325 will allow the words on the computer screen to be a little more legible further back than the 400, which really starts to obstruct the words on the screen.

p.s. Thanks CW!

But but but Mr. Mann said he *thinks* he got the tip from you. That's good enough for me. Live with it CW! :D

That was adapted from (C)loud (W)izard, Uma. LOL

You gonna get something that matches your DID? ;) Are you going mechanical?

Not really a fashion person, don't really mind if it matches my DID or not as long as it works on it ! And no idea of the next PV, tough a provari sounds more and more appealing, but I'm in no rush, spent enough in the last few weeks on ecigs.

Building a coil and using a Provari is gonna make me a Coil Master! The Provari just spits out E this and E that! But when it vapes at 5.2v on a 2.2ohm coil..WOW!! I nailed it!

I agree with you Jimi. The sensitivity of the Provari makes it the perfect tool for coil making. My 4/3 coils seem to come out at 2.2Ω every time and 4.8v is my sweet spot.
