Oh! Funny (to me anyway) story!
When we were at the racetrack, there were many smokers, but as far as I know I was the only vaper/vaporer. I was surrounded. One of the smokers felt challenged by the plumes of vapor omitting from my little eGo Twist with the Vision Clearomizer on it and he would stare at me with every puff he took and expelled. I rose to the challenge, naturally, and out produced him by a mile. He then took a super long puff and let it out with great pride. I shrugged my shoulders in the "meh" fashion, reached into the outside pocket of my purse, grabbed my Magenta Lava Tube with the regular DID on it and... he stomped out his cigarette and left before I got a chance to take a draw! lol

Uma, that is too funny!!! :toast:

The 30 gauge is stiffer as well. Is it easier to wrap? That depends on how you wrap it. I found it much harder to free wrap it so I used a screw and made the coil, then put a drill bit through it and set it up in the DID. Then I carefully twisted in my wick. So if you pre-wind your coil it's easier. Oh and it is easier to see Uma.

That is so great, Uma! Smokers trying to out-produce, come on! He has no idea what he was missing when he left the battleground.

The DID and DID shorty are the same except for the length (which accounts for the reduced capacity of the shorty). The mini is a bit different, different wick hole size and I believe the only person with real hands on is rwescheler, the rest of us is still waiting. Obviously it fits differently being so slim so it will likely go better with fat mods with slant top etc.

what mod will you be using it with?

I would mainly pick based on aesthetic. From what little info rwescheler stated about mini, it is awesome too so you really can't go wrong with any :)

I'll use either my provari or ego :D

Damn. Recoiled my Boba's bounty. Granted wick was good and just retorched that. Torched the wire. Vaping again in just under 10 minutes. May not seem like a big deal. But for a while I felt like when a new coil was needed, I was playing the operation game and cursing for over an hour.
Progress.

It really does get easier doesn't it? :)

I remember when I first go the DID, I used up all of the kanthal Jim included in one setting and still did not have a decent working coil setup. Now, I take it apart, recoil without even thinking and only have to make the tiniest nudge to make it "pretty" and it vapes great and with great stability unlike initially where ohm jumps around and things go awry with the tiniest nudge or accidental knock overs.

Talk about inducing performance anxiety. The dude probably went to get a drink of water...so he could take his pill

I was able to control air flow with the brass nut. If it sits higher to the driptip base. The air flow is decrease. And the opposite happen when u turn the nut the other way. Also love my DID on my chrome provari. The mini has a rainbow rebuildable atomizer.

I'm so glad you found it helpful! I tried uploading Pt2 yesterday, but I hit a small snag with youtube, but I should have pt2 up tonight and pt3 up tomorrow! If my isp is good to me, I might have both parts up tonight though, so cross your fingers for me!
I also have some mini DID updates for everyone, as well as a few photos! Stay tuned:
Holy moly; I followed the instructions on Rick's vid this morning (this is the first fat, thin-walled wick I've tried) and, WOW!!
I've followed this thread pretty religiously, and had my DID running pretty well -or so I thought. The thin-walled wick takes flavor to a whole new level, with vapor to match, and makes priming unnecessary.
Thank you Rick for the outstanding tutorial; you're the man! I can't wait for the other two parts!

Easier or harder to wrap with the thicker wire?
I'm interested in trying the 30 gauge now too. I bet it's a hair easier to see as well.
I think it's much easier, especially if you give your wire a little love with your torch! Not only is it easier to wrap and harder to over-tighten, but it's also nearly impossible to pop a coil with because it's so thick!

Doesn't get much better than this folks! If you're just starting out and want to see what a perfect coil looks like, here it is!

haha, glad you got a kick out of it too. I still find it difficult to believe he challenged a girl! let alone a vaping gal. Some people gotta learn things the hard way ya know. Hopefully he's on the net today researching "fake cigarettes". OH! That reminds me, an hour or so later, another guy curiously pointed to my eCig and asked me what it was. I kept my reply short and sweet, biting my tongue to refrain from going into 3 years worth of excited eCig elaboration lol. He said it was really cool, and walked over to his wife and kid and they started talking. Methinks he's on the net searching for the eGo Twist today. :)
