Oh hey all! Before I forget.. I just ran across this neat tip, posted by BAzz at VP.
Quote: "The metallic taste is probably electric current. Try a plastic drip tip and see if it goes away. If it does there's a likelyhood that the coil is shorting to the body."

So, if ever you get a metallic taste, try the tip first.

What about a 16mm DID with it's battery holder for 14650?
And looking like hybrid?
This is closer in the "to do" list than the bottom connector with the hole! lol

YES, oh yes, that would be perfect for something I have in mind actually.

Please check your numbers in the Gemini Lotery Thread beacause I will make the lotery in weekend
I think Sunday is OK
Saturday I will lock the thread and start the process

I might just barely make that thread if ordering is back up on Saturday :D

In my case, I've even done that. Plastic, glass, ss..... And the same coil tastes fine with other juices. BUT......that is a great tip in any case and thank you for sharing. :)

guys today I received prover for the first time and I had lots of issue using it with the DID, a lot of error messages and it is so difficult to make them work together. I mean they work for now but if I have to decide to set a new coil it's not going to be easy. I try different gages of wire some of them work faster than the other. I used to have Vtube SS and it was great with the DID.
please give me some advices because I love the DID and Provari but it seems that they don't match

Provaris aren't harder to get it right, they're just quicker to tell you when it's wrong. I setup all my DID on my Provari (mech-mod advocates will cringe at this...) because I know if it works there it works anywhere.

Wick: I follow the "RWeschler" method, but I still do the 3x quench + 3x juice burn as well (old dog, new tricks...)
  1. Cut sheet (~2.0cm for std/shortie, ~1.5cm for mini) x 4.0cm tall (I use either 325 or 400, but some folks like 270. I do however like T316-Medical grade better than T304-Food grade...)
  2. Burn whole wick flat (Jack Frost method)
  3. Fold leading edge over (will provide evenness on outside seam)
  4. Roll wick around a tool that fits closely in size to the wick hole (8D finishing nail for std/shortie, 1/16in drill bit for Mini)
  5. (optional) cut bottom at 45 degrees (I do it because it helps bubbles come out the bottom of the wick)
  6. Test for fit in wick hole (should fit with enough friction to hold it in place - ~1mm off bottom of tank)
  7. Trim top of wick (I usually cut to just below the top of the center pin - a little shorter for Mini)
  8. Pull wick out, torch wick and quench in water (I use a Home Depot butane torch)
  9. Juice burn (douse with juice and light on fire with lighter till it goes out)

Coil: I use a modified "Petar K" method (Kanthal 30awg A-1, 4/5 wraps: ~1.7ohm on std/shortie - ~1.4ohm on Mini)
  1. Cut ~5in wire
  2. Anneal with lighter (lower temp flame just bring to red up/back and let cool in air)
  3. Wrap coil on tool (I use a home Depot pick for Std/Shorite, 8D finishing nail for Mini)
  4. Install coil in DID (stick tool right in wick hole with coil still wrapped)
  5. Tighten leads (I go in between negative and post on bottom and clockwise on top - someone once said "like mickey mouse ears")
  6. Pull out tool and make sure coil not touching anywhere
  7. Use toothpick in top of coil to pull slightly away from top/center post
  8. Set Provari to 3.0v and dry burn (nudge with tooth pick if not even red glow top to bottom)
  9. Check resistance (this is the clean/baseline resistance for the coil installed - if it changes much later you it's either touching center post or shorting which means wick)

Try to twist wick into coil. If it doesn't go in with just a little resistance (should just touch all the way around), roll wick tighter between thumb and forefinger, try again (rinse/repeat).

Wet burn. Douse the coil/wick with juice 4/5 drops and fry it (repeat 3x)
Check resistance (if it's more than ~0.2ohm difference burn to glow and look for obvious hot spots or simply twist the wick 1/4 turn - rinse/repeat)

Fill and vape. Seems like a lot of steps, but once you get the hang of it you can do all of this in literally a few minutes. Also, number of wraps, mesh # and wire gauge can be changed for your vaping style.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, if so will edit later.

Well, that pretty much sums that up. For the record, I sat in that very seat a few weeks ago. The provari is a great device. Almost too great for its own good. One thing that I've done to secure a more stable setup is to wrap directly on the wick. And I do that to this day. You grip the wire on an angle and then wrap it close. That almost 45 degree angle will setup nicely to touch the base and run along the floor to the ground.

30g 4/5 wrap, 32g 3/4 wrap. Either puts it somewhere around 1.5ohms +/-. But cloud clearly gave plenty of detail to go on.

Actually, that is a great step by step how to for us noobs. Copied to a notepad document for later, thanks!

Np, hope it helps. There a a bunch of different "methods", this is just my hybrid-mthod and how I've gotten to a point where I get reproducible results so never scared/intimidated by tearing one of my DIDs apart and rebuilding (even if time is short). Key is the oxidizing of the wick. If the wick is solid, the rest is forgiving. I get very few (or none) hot spots with this method, but if I do and can't nudge it right in 30 seconds or less I twist the wick back out and burn/quench a couple more time and then stick back in.

Good luck, we're all here to help.

Is it normal that the whole tank runs hot say after 8 long puffs? I'm running 3 ohm at 5.6 volts.

Might be the Sleestack lungs in action
It's normal. Shouldn't be burning your skin, but can get pretty warm during a heavy chain vaping session. Some fold switch drip tips to avoid device heat (glass, ceramic, etc).

TRUST me on this. If you get frustrated after a few tries, put it DOWN and try again the next day or a few hours later if it's early enough. Take those breaks from it. Have another device to vape on.

That's about right. Jim ships pretty quickly when the site is accepting and Greek mail gets it to NY in ~2 days. After that, who knows with US customs. Some folks have gotten through really quickly, I've consistently sat there for another 2 weeks. Od thing is that sometimes the tracker says it's in NY yet my mailman delivers the package.
