A fixed voltage stacked 3.0v (6.0v) batt PV could give you 40.0 watts@0.9ohm (although I think there'd be nothing left but a crater where you were standing when you took the first puff):

Couldn't agree more CW. Now I'm ready to buy a quality mod to match the DID as far as workmanship and performance goes, I too was choosing between mech and electronic. I decided for me a mod like the DID that was built for life and maintenance free with little to go wrong were my top priority and so I chose a mechanical

I can make a good steady 1.2 ohm coil for my did. But I diy my juices and some taste burnt at higher voltages. I like the Provari for the simple fact that I can dial in my flavors with the push of a button. Making a new higher or lower ohm coil is silly when I can just change the voltage output to the did with the Provari. For those that have their all day vape and perfect coil that is awesome but I like to change flavors and re-coiling just to do that can be a pain in the .... :2c:

Argh. I have no hot spots and no shorts but it tastes burnt. Like burnt Cheerios. Lol. Maybe I have the coil too tight? How tight do you need to have the coils around the mesh?

I first wrap my coil around a 3.2mm tube or drill bit as the DID wick hole is 3.4mm. I then with the coil still on the bit insert the bit into the wick hole and terminate the coil ends.
Slide/pull the bit out with a left/right twisting motion and then wrap the s/s wick around the same drill bit or tube.
After oxidising I roll the wick gently between my fingers until it will just slide down through the coil loops into the wick hole with a slight resistance, that is if I stop pushing/twisting it down it will hold its position until I resume pushing/ twisting left and right.
That's how tight you need the contact.
Maybe not enough juice is traveling up the wick. Try a few drops dripped onto the coil and see if the flavour improves

Maybe your coil resistance is too low. Using the supplied wire and mesh supplied by Jim on 3.7v then 4/3 wrap or 3/2 wrap seems to work for most and would be a good starting point

You guys kill me we control the ohms. So amps are controllable. I want a pv that will last like the did. No springs. They fail over time and the switch needs to be forever. It's just a 3 volt battery.

Tony

There is a pv that lasts like the DID and it comes with a transferable life time warranty. It's called the Precise. Yer the springs do go but so do the DID's wick and coils but we just make sure we got enough wire and mesh in stock. Just like I'm going to do with springs as they are cheap as chips to buy.
Only way you will get 100% maintaince free pv is to solder 2 wires to a battery and touch the wires to the atomiser/coil by hand

I usually don't have any issues with re coiling a wick, but yes there is some fiddling in the end to get it to that ah-ha spot. This may be a simplified Petar K method and also lightbulb moment. I will try it for sure. Thanks for the lightbulb moment, as I don't have many of those very often anymore as CRS is taking it's toll. ;) :)

Hey Tony. Thought about magnets instead of springs. Works great in many tube mods & Hybrids.

You know it.! I just want Jim to plan it. Also no need for spring in the tube just twist to fit.
I really have put a lot of thought into it. The switch could have a 5 amp or what ever mini car fuse for the concerned. My idea is to use the fuse as the switch that connects the bars when pushed
making something that works is easy. Making something that is polished and classy requires a craftsman like Jim.

Don't laugh. I had my pv fail and I did just that. I wrapped a wire around the cart and taped it to the battery ground. When I needed to vape I put the cart on the positive and I was in like flyn. Never get between a man and him nic!

Hi guys, got my DID 1 week ago and tried many configurations... I didn't found anything but my air hole is not perfectly aligned with the wick.
At first I thought it wouldn't matter but after unsccrewing the top cap to make the hole in front of the wick it made a HUGE difference.

So is there a way to make the top cap screw a bit more? Mine doesn't get to the point where it's in front of the wick but stops before...
Or are your air hole perfectly aligned or do you unscrew the top cap?

I always thought that the variable throat hit in the Zenesis with wasn't a big deal but now I can see his point...

Stick an O ring between the cap and the base and then it will hold it snug wherever you set it at.

Not a bad idea at all...
Tried the o ring and it worked great however it riuns the aestethic a bit imo.

Anyways I was contacted by Jim, he asked to send a photo of the problem. I don't think it's a bad top cap as the deviation from the wick it's .5 cm I believe, I can live with that. I'll send a photo and we'll see : )

Great support btw!

They do make clear o rings ya know? That's awesome that Jim is that on top of things with all he has going on, truly a class act.

I had a similar issue. I had purchased multiple DIDs and shuffled the top caps. None were aligned. properly. Several in this forum suggested trying different caps. Voila I got the right cap on the right DID. If you purchased more than 1 DID it may be worth checking this.
As for the O ring ----several of us thought the spare O ring was supposed to go on the threads and sported our DIDs with the O ring for some time before being enlightened.
