That's great you have it working!!!
The first picture, looks like the juice is spitting outwards? If it is, it means ... yep... it means there's a minor short going on somewhere there. :( Once you get that fixed though (twist the coil? Bump a coil? ), you're really be rockin it!!

Hi Uma don't think I have a short, 1.5Ohms dead with no wick in, 1.5ohms dead with in wick, good vapor, some of the best flavor yet. I could be wrong so I'll keep my eye on it,....

@ SilverSix: I haven't had your problems, and am in the dark with this. The only times my DiD has flooded, was when I would take an ordinary aggressive draw with it. Since I've learned to relax and let the vapor come to me, it never floods anymore at all. I used the huge Siam Ripple drip tip, to help me to not "take draws" from it. It's a highy tuned, sensitive atty, like a good genesis should be. :) You probably already know this, but maybe the next person doesn't know we have to "draw" on the genny's a lot gentler than the normal storebought attys.

@Striker911: That's a dual carto tank converted to use as a DID tank? Was it easy to do? It might come in handy in a pinch.

@Jim and Wasabi: Right on!!!!
Was real easy. I used a pipe cutter and a marker. I made a video that will be posted overnight. Best thing is that it will not crack. Coke will crack most tanks instantly. Not this one though. Also used the top caps and the DID tank to make a standard carto tank. Looks really good. Will post on that also.

Preview anyone? Okay here you go.

I use a piece of mesh in the refill hole. I can increase or reduce the amount of air.

Do you get ANY leakage from the mesh 'stuffed' fill hole?
I like my fill screw in, but am starting to come round to the idea that especially with a nice #500 fat wick, tank airlock/airflow restriction is a real issue as others have commented.
I was wondering about acquiring a couple of ss bolts (m3?) and after shortening, drilling through the shaft to make an air-hole, or even an tiny adjustable 'tank airflow control assembly', a bit like the Siam Mods airflow control drip tip, but smaller.
might be a little fiddly to make up but worth it :?:

by "loosen the fill hole" do you mean loosening the screw in the fill hole? did you just back it out a few turns? or did you completely remove it..

I backed it out a few turns until I could take a hit and see bubbles come from the bottom of the wick. Great success!

Sorry to have some bad news:(
But yesterday the glastank started to leak a little
and this morning all the juice had run out.
Cracks in the top and bottom.

I use only one DIY liquid: Base 90VG/ 10wodka /3,5% mentholcristals dilluted in 97% alcohol and in one of the bottles I add some raspberry.
So unless somebody knows what makes the tank crack, I will use the seccond one to test out.
This can take a while, because the cracks appeared after ± 3 days, so I have to wait every 3 day's for adding a new ingedient.
but fortunate it happens on a DIY, so it is easy to find out what causes it.

Sorry to hear your glass cracked.
Mine did also crack just two day's ago, with Hawaii Sunrise from Rawr Vapers in it, but still no leakage so I continue vaping with water melon.

Time that we got some Pyrex glass windows for our DID's :)

It might be the alcohol in your juice. Posts #7129 and #7130 have some info.

Although rubbing alcohol was probably used in the video post, the vodka and 97% alcohol in your DIY may have a similar effect.

This looks like it will be something tha Jim will be able to get onto when he has the time. I would love to have a pyrex tank on my DID. I am loving the plastic but I know at some point I will scratch this plastic. It happens to all of my plastic tanks. If anyone is in good with phanic (SP?) let's see if they will make one especially for the DID.

Has anyone tried Titanium coils on the DID yet?

The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine (who is also a Dutch e-cig vendor) recently gave me a few things to test out and amongst them was a Titanium DCT tank with Titanium coils. After having tested that for a while I must say that the taste is really great, better than any other DCT I have vaped in the past.

So now I am wondering about putting a Titanium coil on my DID but I have no clue what thickness of wire to use and how Titanium compares in resistance to Kanthal or Nichrome.

I have noticed that the Titanium coil does not gunk as fast, probably because the surface of Titanium is very smooth compared to other metals.

Any thoughts?

Ok,my 32 & 30g Kanthal is still not here, but my last rejuvenated coil was looks very sad and flavor was lacking, so I pulled out the nichrome 28 I bought at the local electronics shop (was the only res wire they stock) and set about making a coil for my new 110mm #500 mesh wick, 10wraps, steady 1.5Ohms, wrapped the coil around a drill bit then inserted drill bit into DID tightened connectors slid in juiced up 3500 wick, and Bob's you mother's brother, 8 watts on the ZMAX and a great vape. This is not my ideal set-up (still running on so who knows) but until my kanthal arrives IT WORKS

I think you have to search for a titanium wire which is comparable in resistance / meter with the 28, 30, 32 awg kanthal we now are using.
There is a dutch website who sell titan wire, but the thinest they have is 0,8 mm, should be to low in resistance.

If you google on 'Titanium weerstandsdraad' you'll find some suppliers in Holland.
If you can only get it in large quantity, I'll be happy to join you to test it.
(And my guess is there will be some others too;) )
