RY4 through a genny is the single worst tasting thing I've had since I started vaping. I'd rather have a dry mesh hit.
Good choice D.
I love Gemini.
Thank you Jim, you do make some very very nice looking products to be sure
Oiy, just got back from Home Depot with a brand spankin new BenzoMatic Torch. Very Coool little butane torch for the priceSo now once my Gemini Gets here I will be all set to oxidize some wicks and get down to Vaping the heck out of that bugger
SO all set to try being a mesh head and hoping for the best LOL

Are you the 'white peach' Darth vapor. If so when are you going to tell it in gallon bottles?I love that stuff.
I did do some white peach at some point not sure if mine is the one you are talking about thoughLOL Yeah it is really really good, now the Wifey makes it mixed with Pomegranate and it tastes like gummy bears
I really should go back to making some more of the one that I did make because it is Tastey but the wifey used it all

Did someone say gummy bears?
Yeppers.... "Bouncing here and there and everywhere"...... and the whole 9 yards even LOL

I've used RY4 and it was just meh to me. Must be the brand or age or something no doubt.RY4 through a genny is the single worst tasting thing I've had since I started vaping. I'd rather have a dry mesh hit.

+10 for this fantastic guideline/outline, CloudWizard!! I hope someone can add it to Mr.Mann's index.I take back what I said before, just built a new ultra-thick wick with 500 and it is really nice. I was reading the 500 mesh thread and saw this posting about someone's modified method wick/coil building technique and wanted to try it so said hey why not try the 500 again and it worked a treat. I'm vaping 100% VG (IKV RY4 Gold) and on a sustained burn it out runs the cut-off switch.
The wick I just built is ~37mm x ~110mm (I probably could've gone to ~130mm, but this worked great) - 5/6 wrap with Kanthal 30awg - ~2.5ohm vaping at 5.2v. Jack Frosted (pre-torched both sides before rolling), rolled till it fit in my Standard DID wick hole, trimmed to length (just below the top of the center post), DID 1 torch/quench, and then followed the method below.
The modified technique (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/330407-500-ss-mesh-16.html#post7313274):)
Hubble's Technique
*Make and oxidize a tight dense wick per thread technique. Don't go overboard with oxidizing, you will do more later.
*insert wick into dry tank to check size and trim bottom of wick at an angle to help wicking. (I didn't angle cut)
*Eye where you want your coil to go on your wick. I wet a little piece of paper the length and position of my future coil to the wick. (I didn't use paper but did use a toothpick to measure where the wick met the tank)
*Take your wick out of the tank, tightly & evenly coil your wire how you want it. Leave both tails on the same side when finished.
*Trim tails to about a half inch. (I left mine longer because I find it easier to work with)
*Hold tails in needle nose pliers close to wick. (I used locking hemostats)
*Torch wick and coils to red and quench 2-3 times. (I only DID this once)
*Put down pliers and drip juice all over coils. Light to flame. Do this 2-3 times. Don't quench. (hold bottom of wick with pliers)
*Put wick back into tank
*Screw in top positive lead first making sure coils and wick touch nothing.
*With fingers or pliers (I used pliers), GENTLY pull bottom lead towards you to pull all the coils close to the wick.
*While holding wire with gentle tension, pull bottom lead under negative screw and screw down.
This tech breaks in your coil and wick before it even touches a battery. It also "trains" your coil to stay a tight coil and will not expand away from your wick ever again. Zero hotspots and zero shorts. Enjoy and I hope this helps that guy about to throw a Genesis out the window
Hey Unspokenzero, I didn't get that...
I dream to be able to leave that screw on... just can't seem to be able to...
LOL, tastes are as subjective as anything else. I love IKV RY4 Gold (100% VG) in my DIDs and have it in my daily rotation.

Hey Devon, as an FYI DIDs are absolutely wonderful on the GGTS. Stds/Shorties/Gemini fit flush (with a 510 eGo adapter) and Minis actually recess into the collection tank without an adapter. I don't use the adjustable draw cap, but works great with a Kick.

I have NEVER left the filler screw out. My DID's travel with me to work every day. Three sit in my pocket on Various mods and the other 4 are I this cutesy case on their side. I have no wicking problems and never have a leak. I use a solid wick just slightly smaller than the wick hole. I used my high dollar hybrids at home because they leak like crazy and don't travel well.
You possibly have your wick in too tight, Once I get my shorts and everything sorted I start backing out the fill screw until I see a bubble appear at the bottom of my wick. Then take a hit. I keep doing that until after a few toots I get bubbles coming out like the legacy DCT days. Also your juice may be way too thick has anyone who is using boba's tried thinning it with PGA or water? I'm not sure how that will effect taste but it may help your wicking. I use all Altcig juices and they all wick fantastically in the DID.
Ok, just a quick note/update to all. I have my current setup on the DID std at 28awg Nichrome 8/9 wrap 0.9 Ohms on 105mm of #500 tolled tight with a small air gap all around the wick hole to reduce cohesive force, and thought I might even be able to put my fill screw in LOL, running on my paps from 4-3.6 volts. silky thick flavorful 4 second hits to die for.
Well, I cant put my fill screw in, especially while nursing a new coil and mesh.
I've got heaps of #200 & #240 mesh lying around, that was a free gift from the mesh supplier so I've been thinking what can I do with this?
I hate having my fill screw out as I do get leaks, I have heard a roll of mesh in the fill hole can do the trick but never found the ideal.
This is what I found works best for me.
Cut a piece of the #200 or #240 mesh, 15mmx70m, give it a very quick torch just to get any impurities off, then roll mesh round an 18g filling needle nice and tight and dense, then while still on needle, heat til orange with torch and quench, do this twice to stiffen it and help it to keep it's shape, and it's 18g hole. then insert with clockwise twist until it sits just below you top brass/SS nut on you pos post.
Result, great wicking, great flavor,NO burnt or dry hits and NO LEAKS.
By the Way I am running about 80%VG 20%PG mix.
Just my
EDIT: Coil now stabilised at 1.2Ohms indicated, flavor is so intense now, I'm a little dizzy also :0)
