Wow dspi, the beauty of your photographs never ceases to amaze me.Yes indeed, fits great on GGTS

Thank you all very much
Yes it does look very nice on the GGTS that is for darned sureI will be using this one on my Provari though so I guess I better make darned sure that I get zero hotspots or shorts from what it sounds like.
Now I have a few questions before it gets here, I use Pink Spot liquids a lot and I mix my DIY juices at 60/40 PG/VG for optimum flavor, vapor and TH for my tastes. Now my first wick I intend to be a hybrid mesh and silica combination, silica rolled up in the SS Mesh.
So with this information which mesh should I use to avoid leaks and still get proper wicking for vaping? I saw some 400 SS Mesh on Ebay for a decent price but I am totally new to this so I am not sure if it is the right kind for this application.
Sincerely;
Nate aka Darth Vapor
My current setup on my DID standard is really blowing me away.
I've been following this thread for a couple of months since I first started obsessing about owning a quality genesis, I would hear tales of "intense flavor", "got to cut down on the nicotine in my mixes the DID is making me nauseous, but in a good way LOL", "This DID producing overwhelming plumes of vapor" etc. etc. These are not exact quotes, but you get the picture.
Then my first DID std arrived, and the fun and games began. I have worked as a mechanic, television engineer and am always "fixing things", I thought "this will be a snap"!
Um... well no. don't get me wrong I could get a working setup going with no obvious shorts/hotspots etc, but I spent many hours and sleepless nights fiddling, recoiling making new wicks etc, in search of the fore mentioned genesis nirvana.
I researched on youtube, read every post that I could on ECF, aussievapers, vaporwall and anywhere else they were talking about ss wicks and genesis coils. again, I state I was enjoying my DID experience and had a good vape going, but I am a perfectionist to a fault and this fiddling had become an obsession the likes of which I haven't known for a long while.
Over the last month my oxidation process and coiling methods have developed through countless helpful posts of advice mainly from here, but also from the #500 mesh thread, a well visited DIDers hangout.
every setup has been that little bit better, more thought out and easier, but today the Ah ha moment well and truly occurred.
I now have "intense flavor",and I think I've "got to cut down on the nicotine in my mixes the DID is making me nauseous, but in a good way LOL" and "This DID producing overwhelming plumes of vapor".
Was it worth all the hours, lost sleep, meters of kanthal, litres of Vg use in testing new coils etc .etc./
Hell YES,
Would I do it all over again knowing what I know now?
Definitely
What was my end result after all my effort?
Truly the best flavor & vaping experience ever.
Big thanks to ALL those who listened to my struggles and tirelessly posted new and innovative methods and troubleshooting advice.
I now have 2 DID stds, and another on the way, and a DID mini, these will last me forever, and cost me less
money than I spent on smokes per month.
Thanks also to Jim for amongst other things the best customer service I've seen from any manufacturer or vendor.![]()
Right on!! Congrats!!I agree, 400 should suit fine. Jim sends mesh with your order, no need to worry about purchasing extra for now. That gives you lots of time to research all the pro's and con's of various ways to build.Subjective question here....
Many will tell you 325 for higher VG, but I no longer use anything but 400 even for 100% VG. 325 generally equals more "throat hit".
500 mesh is all the buzz right now, but I haven't tried yet. I'm sure I will at some point, mostly to satisfy curiosity, but I've never had a problem of any kind with 400.
Personally, I'd say go for the 400 until you get comfortable with set-up. There's more variability in how you oxidize, roll, and coil when you're starting out than you'll ever notice among the different mesh..
Oh, and welcome aboard!![]()

Also, I would save the cotton/rope tricks for if you have a bummer wick only. I'm sure you won't need it, and if you do find you need it with your VG, then it's still really easy to add it. (just put in on a needle and sew it in right).
Congrats on purchasing a DID!
Thank you very much Vapor2112
I just saw some 400 ss mesh on ebay for 12x12 sheet at about 10 bucks or so so I figure pick some of that up and try and work with it for practice until my Gemini gets here so I can at least become proficient with rolling it properly and all.
Unless there is somewhere else where I should get it from it looks a lot like what we use

You can get the mesh at McMaster Carr, Grainger, or the Mesh Company, all are reputable sources, it really just depends on where you'd rather buy from.
There's nothing to it really, you probably don't need any practice, my first wick / coil worked fine for a few days, till I started monkeying with it. Second wick / coil is still going a couple weeks later.

That is AWESOME News I know McmastercarrI bought my inner O rings for my MAP DCT's from them, they are right up the road from here where I live so they would definitely be a good source for me for quick delivery. Just have to navigate through their HUGE list of stuff to find the right mesh

Tell him what I told you just a few short weeks ago...

Eh, which part? We've talked about a LOT of stuff, and I've learned a lot in a few short weeks from it too.
Particularly, the relax and don't stress about how hard it is to build up a device you don't even have in hand yet..
Reading all of the posts, questions, problems can make this whole process seem MUCH more daunting than it actually is...
Can't recall exactly how long I've had my DID now, but its been a while. I'm still on wick #1 and coil #2... And I use it daily.
The more you over think the process, the more likely you are to run into issues...
Give it a go and ask away if you have any problems. Plenty of experts around here.
That's the dream! thank you for living it! It's what I'm aiming at... I wander around with an old Ego case with a few DIDs inside. To Switch DID, Il look for the screw inside the case, put it back on, get my hands messy in the process, take the new DID, take the screw out, throw it in the case, close the case VERY carefully! go to the bathroom to wash my hands and the new DID...
I don't know, I tried to leave a crescent shaped (~1mm) opening on the side of the wick. Nothing. I tried to leave an even bigger gap. Nothing. Although I find it hard to understand how air could find its way through the threads of a half closed fill screw, I tried that too!
There just no air flow. And the airflow is poor because there's very little vapor production (no vapor pressure to ease the aspiration)... 3 puffs...and a dry hit. I just use a 50/50 diy juice. no fancy stuff...and yet...
There has to be a secret in the making. I need to get it.
That's detailed and reproducible, thanks a million studio... I'll try that (until I can use my 5$ screw)!
