Rick's the master of shiny things, do you remember this Tony:

Ever since I posted my DID review (which features the polished P+18500 I used to own), I've been getting quite a few PMs regarding buffing and polishing SS mods, so I put together this guide that I've been sending as replies, so I guess I'll post it here for everyone to have access to. It's not much, though it's more than enough to get started. If you really want to get into polishing/refinishing ss mods, I highly suggest going on youtube and watching videos of professionals at work and then refining your cutting/polishing techniques with practice.

You're going to need a drill and something to clamp it down with, but I'm assuming you have those two things, so I won't send links.

x2 Arbor Adapter - Buffing Adapters - Buffing/Polishing - Caswell Inc
x1 White Buffing Compound Large - Standard Buffing Compounds - Buffing/Polishing - Caswell Inc
x1 Jeweler's Rouge Large - Standard Buffing Compounds - Buffing/Polishing - Caswell Inc
x2 Canton Flannel Wheel 6" x 1/2" - Caswell Inc
x2 Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheel - 6" x 1/2" - Caswell Inc
x1 http://www.caswellplating.com/buffi...ke/wheel-rake-complete-unit-handle-teeth.html

Ok, so I usually buff my mods in 2 (sometimes 3) stages. I start with the spiral sewn cotton wheels with jewler's rouge (red compound) for the initial refinish (to get an scratches out or to strip a media blasted finish), and then I use the canton flannel wheels with white compound for the final mirror finish. I suggest you go on youtube and look up buffing instructional videos, as they'll show you how much and how often to apply the compound, cutting/wiping techniques, and everything else you'll need to know.

It been 4 months and my Did has many scars. What should I use to get the looking like Ginger Lynn again.

Tony

I try my best not to go out of stock and this happens because of your love to them!
Gemini is Out of Stock! and Mini DID coming soon Out of Stock! Sorry for that!
I try for this not to happen but I can not produce 2 or 3.000 of them!
Thank you for understanding!

325 mesh worked ok for me 400 works excellent . Never tried any other gauge , after installing new 400 wick and test firing for shorts i then proceed to fill tank .
Without any firing of the DID after that procedure i can watch the mesh wick get saturated just sitting there straight up on my device on desk and i then start to fire it and vape . ; )

I hear the higher vg e-liquids work well with lower number gauge mesh but cannot attest to it.
I use 75pg/25vg my own DIY.

I have. I have one DID with 500 and one with around 235 The 235 works as well as the 500 for me.
I think that with the large amount of mesh needed to make these solid wicks (10cm or more), the fineness is less important. With the fill hole screw in, the 235 allows the pressure to equalize easier then the 500, so in some ways it might actually be better.

Jim I think out of all of the RBT's out there, yours are in stock more than any of them so I have to say that you are keeping up with the demand better than anyone. I DID in fact pimp out your site last night though since I saw the sale on the Gemini's :D Hopefully I do not get a beat down for this from the other DID Fanatics out there :( But I had to, your products are very very nice indeed and I anxiously away the day my Gemini gets here :D As well as the DID Mini i bought yesterday from a member here :D

Sincerely;
Nate aka Darth Vapor

Beautiful Vape day! My DID took a fall yesterday, still works well, just dented the top thread row after a fall without my top cap onto a floor tile in my bathroom at about 5 foot. :/ the top cap hole does not line up anymore when fully seated, she still Vapes like a beast. I need to know if the top section comes with the top cap order on the site.
No flash you can see the dent:

With flash you can see the wick and coil detail:

This is that fat 325 mesh 45mm x 100mm rolled tight and the 28 gauge nichrome after over a week of daily use. I was unwrapping the top few wraps to lower the resistance when the accident occurred...

I love the response from the coil flavor and vapor after removing two wraps!

The floor tile did not fair well, it cracked, DID 1 floor tile 0

Before the impact the air hole lined up perfect with the coil and wick, and the threads were smooth like butter. Now the threads are a bit more coarse and the air hole is 1-2 cm (before) from wick and coil.

It's my responsibility so I just need to know before I submit order if the top caps sold on the site are the cap only or the cap and the flat top, where all the magic happens. :)

I think that you can save this top cap!
You have to screw the cap wile you pull it at the same time until the end
then unscrew the top cap wile you push it at the same time
do it until the feeling is like a butter again!
(you must do it many times though)
I am waiting!!!;)

oh we need an answer here about the top cap
the cap and plate go together because they are couples and they line up together
so if someone has 2 of them and swap them, both of them will not line up!

Jim,
It's working! I just DID the process 2 times. Pulling outward with some force while unscrewing. The gap of the hole to the wick is narrowing and the threading is getting more and more smooth.
Fantastic!

Hi there
sorry for that but before we talk about new one please tell us when you say does not line up ?
You mean that it needs some more to come lined or
the hole goes more than it must?
sorry for my English! lol
lol about the score! hahaha

I got this exact same problem after dropping it a few times. My hole goes more then it must in your words, all threads are still smooth to. Ordered a new cap allready so its ok.
