Me too, and it works great around that 400 Fat Wick. That thing has virtually no hole in the center and it completely fills the wick hole :D As long as this coil lasts I am gonna vape it because it took me a while to get this one going :D

The twisted coils last a long time. I have 33awg that I twist. Haven't used it in a while because 4/3 wrap of 30awg is serving me so well right now. I did pop a 28awg on one yesterday but don't like the delayed heat up time.

See I cannot get a 30 AWG wrap to work worth beans on mine at all, I get nothing but shorts from it unless I use Silica or Ceramic Wick. I can't get a 30 gauge coil to fire on SS Mesh to save my life and as you can see from the pic, the wick is definitely oxidized. It is virtually blackened from all the juice I have run through this thing today. I just don't get it.

Hmm, I've found that thicker R wires are actually easier to wrap without getting any hotspots than thinner wires, and 30 is actually the easiest for me. In general, I find that annealing my kanthal with a torch before wrapping it not only makes it much more pliable and malleable when adjusting my coils, but it also seems to aid in reducing hotspots right out of the gate for some reason. Also, I'd suggest keeping a syringe, paperclip, or whatever fits tightest in the center channel of your wick in when you wrap your coil, because the thicker wire seems a bit more inclined to wrap tighter on your wick, which will ultimately give you hotspots. Next troubleshooting tip would be to unravel your wick and reroll it as tight as possible around your center channel tool (14g syringe works the best for me, but a 5/64" drill bit will also do the trick). Not only will a tight wick best potentiate capillary action, but it'll also make wrapping your coil easier b/c you won't need to be as concerned about over-tightening your kanthal.

And as always, if you're getting hotspots or you just can't seem to wrap a passable coil (one where all of the coils heat up evenly and the mesh in between the wraps doesn't glow bright red/orange along with the coils), throw away your coil, pull out your wick, and give it hell with your torch!

I Honestly have No Idea what the Ice Tank is other than a Frosted Opaque see through tank that was included with the Short DID in the packaging that it came with. I must say though I really like it thus far. I so want a Pyrex Tank for this though. Then I can put my Radiator Pluid in it and be able to see it :D That juice tastes so amazing in the DID's. This Short DID came with the Stainless tank and the one in the picture. I am just really curious as to what it is made of. Perhaps it is a Kir Fanis design?? It does look like his work.

Sincerely;
Nate aka Darth Vapor
Oh I bet you're right, he did sell those for awhile on his site. Soon the glass ones will be sold there too.
I still haven't ventured to try the Pluid or the echo plazma. I'm not much of a black licorice fan. I like the red though. Maybe I'll try some on St Patrick's day next year.

I feel like a child - I must use 4/5 wrap of 30 gauge

Here are the rest of the pics so far!

0.6Ω coil :vapor:

It was really tough to get the DIDs in focus with the background being so bright, so I had to mess with the light adjustments a bit more than I'd like to have. Not the best pic, but you should get the basic idea :)

Got Steve's DID up and running and he seems really happy with it!

Awesome pics of DID - rw - seems the lighting there is better than in California. Hope your having a great time - the view from room is very grand.

Agreed D! And if you guys want to take better pics, it's really all about capturing the SS in the most flattering light. Steer clear of harsh fluorescent lighting, and instead opt to take your photos outside or even by a window. Now D manages to take flawless photos from what feels like every which angle (for whatever reasons only he knows), but I've found that the angle at which you hold your device makes a huge difference in how your photos turn out. Take a few different shots while holding your did upright, parallel to the ground, and at around a 45º angle, and if you have the time, also take a few sets like that but with the sun at different positions relative to where you're holding the device. You'll notice that some angle/lighting combinations will make your SS look utterly shiny and almost glass like, where as others will reveal each and ever minute imperfection, nick, and scratch. Find what angles, positions to the sun, backgrounds, and lighting work best for you! Neither D nor I are photographers, and idk about D, but I take 90% of my photos on my iPhone, so it's not like I'm using any professional photography equipment. With a little bit of practice you can drastically improve how your photos turn out! But as a tiny note, no Photoshop guys.....I do some graphic art work on the side for my job and have been using Photoshop since I was probably 7 or 8, but I NEVER doctor any of the photos I upload to keep a level playing field and so I don't misrepresent any of the subjects of my pictures, and I'd hope that everyone else tries to do likewise :) Dspin doesn't use PS either btw...but at his age, it's a wonder the man can use a computer at all!

Isn't it funny how we all use different methods. I find the 30 very user friendly. But I do remember that when I used twisted 33awg it was super simple.

Awesome advice RWechsler!!! Thank you very much. Once I get home from work today I am going to give this one a shot again and see what I can come up with :D I may not be able to unravel the wick at this point but I am also going to try and wrap the 30 gauge around a drill bit slightly smaller than the wick also so the spring back effect gets it just a bit larger than the wick. I will definitely be trying the smaller drill bit to wrap the wick around though, that sounds very easy to do. I think the smallest one I have is 3/64 I belive I have broken all of my 5/64 bits doing projects so hopefully the slightly smaller on will work just as good :D

Agreed, I never learned how to use Photoshop myself, do not even have it on my computer. The ones I uploaded yesterday were taken with my phone. I actually like the closeup of the wick/wire setup myself better than the one of the full combo.

For those who were asking: yes, the plastic laurlok end on a 15ga blunt tip syringe does light on fire when you hit it with a blow torch

Decided to take a couple cm off a solid 500 mesh wick (I think I prefer the flavor when gravity feeds the wick better than the capillary feed), so unrolled/rerolled on a 15ga needle to make the center channel. Not sure when, but with 30awg I've gotten in the habit of doing a "set burn" once the coil is wrapped (I wrap on the wick before installing) holding it snug with hemostats. For what ever reason today I wrapped on a needle tip instead of my drill bit. Smelled something funny, turned off the torch and realized there were still flames.

For what it's worth, I really like a ~45mm 500 mesh with a 15g a center channel rolled wick hole width on a Mini. 30awg, annealed and wrapped 4/5 - ~1.4ohm.
