OK, so here's 0.8ohm, #500 SS-105mm, 28awg-3/4. I roll wick hole wide but use a 15ga blunt tip needle for the center channel. Vapes nice, tastes good. I'll put a couple tanks through it but I think I'm getting as good out of same wick setup with 30awg 4/5 @ 1.3ohm-1.4ohm.

LOL, I always wrap my coils on the wick before installing. I wrap and then twist the ends and burn the coil on the wick so it keeps it's shape perfectly. Even on recoils I pull the wick and reinsert the 15ga needle, recoil and reinstall. It's way easier for me. This was my 1st 28awg and wrapping 28awg is like bending car springs...

Nice coil CW, but whip one of those wraps off and try it again. I never really got the 3/4 wrap thing quite clear in my head LOL, my coil has three visible wraps yours has 4 where is the 3? Anyway One of my other DIDs is still setup with a "5 visible wrap" 28awg nichrome coil Ohms at 0.9 and although very nice the "3 visible wrap" 28awg kanthal 0.6 Ohm is a total instant hit beast. Just saying, still experimenting as always though :)

3/4 comes from the 2 sides of the wick (excuse the 3rd grade artistry....). I use this for a couple tanks and then pull a wrap to see what it's like 2/3. Guessing that will put it down around 0.6ohm.

I like your artistry, and kinda figured, but nothing better than a bit of crystal clarity. :)
Let us know how you go with your low ohms.

One last thought. With the 0.6 ohm coil on a fresh battery I find 1-2 quick puffs need that air flow so with a mouth inhale you still pull in as much air as you would on a lazier 5-8 second puff otherwise the juice will overheat and burnt taste can appear. It's 5:49am over here in Australia and I've still had no sleep yet, so hitting the hay for a second time hoping for the best.

You can definitely reuse the wick. I don't even pull it to change flavors. Either vape till the tanks is empty or syringe out any excess and refill with new flavor. I've had a couple of strong flavors that linger for a while but for the most part the new flavor comes through pretty quickly.

Thank u, thats so much easier.. But even if i syringe the juice out there is still a lil that clings to the clear tank. Wont that be a problem?

Some folks actually rinse the tank by syringing in some water and then syringing it back out. I guess I'm kind of "flavor lazy" cause I just keep refilling and vaping. The wick will still have the old flavor but it seems to be replaced pretty quickly with the new flavor (for me at least YMMV)

Yeesh. Last night and today I just couldn't get a coil right to save my life. Up until around 3 last night, up at 6 this morning Hurray.

Everything was shorting, or had hotspots, or really wonky resistance, no matter how much I torched and juice-burned my wick, or nudged my coils. Went through a good metre or two of kanthal, two wicks (ended up putting the second aside and going back to the first) and every second word out of my mouth could be paraphrased by holding the shift key and mashing the top row of the keyboard. Whenever I thought I had something stable, I'd vape it once and then get a burnt or metallic taste, and back to nudging and arranging coils I went. Burned through two tanks of juice that way. In fact, my wife came downstairs at one point and had to point out that the room (about 220 square feet) was filled with haze.

I think I've finally gotten one set up properly, but it's metering out higher than I would expect: 5/6 32ga. twisted coming in at 2.1 ohms. Oh, well. It doesn't taste metallic, and it seems about right at 9-ish watts, so I'm not worrying about it any more.

Ever have one of those days?

5/6 of 32awg would give me about 2.8Ω. Just sayin .....

Not with it twisted Pete, his wire is two pieces twisted into one for a lower resistance wire. It should actually be ohming out at around 1.3 to 1.5 at that wrap count depending on the diameter of the wick. I have a 5/6 wrap of straight 32 AWG on my Gemini but the diameter of the wick itself is very small so it comes out to about 2.4-2.6 ohms.

If it is working well though... don't mess with success
