New Genesis type atomizer by DID!

So I have a new setup to share with you guys! so I was running really short on mesh and I decided I would try something out while waiting on my new shipment to come in. So I took a piece of #400 and a 200 jack frosted them and rolled them together with the 200 on the inside. Did a juice burn and wrapped a coil. It worked but the 32ga kanthal that I was not cutting it so I decided to try something out and see how it works. I took 3 strands and twisted them as tight as I could get them, wrapped a 3-4 coil and it hit my target ohm of .9. After brushing out a few hot spots got my coil glowing pretty even. I filled up my tank with some boba's and had a vape. OMFG! Great vape. To tilting, dry hits or burned flavor. It wicks anything I put in it just right with no issues.

I dont agree with this, with my hollow wick in my DID if I take the fill screw out it over-wicks. With the screw in it is just perfect for me.

I have the fill hole screws in both my DID and my Gemini. I run 0.8 ohm with 0.7 ribbon. I don't screw the screw in all the way though. Prevents leaks and seems to let air flow also. Works fantastic.

Anyone know if Jim has any plans on redesigning the Temon switch? I'm not a fan of it at all, its crunchy and the throw is very hard. I can't get the darn C clip off to cut the spring down to lighten the throw. I'm not sure that would fix the switch completly but might help.

I hope he comes out with a shorter spring too, for a more sensitive touch.
Cloud Wizard and a few others have taken their C clip off, perhaps they will chime in soon on the method that got that accomplished. I know they had to fight it too, it was tough.

Anyone know if Jim has any plans on redesigning the Temon switch? I'm not a fan of it at all, its crunchy and the throw is very hard. I can't get the darn C clip off to cut the spring down to lighten the throw. I'm not sure that would fix the switch completly but might help.

I pried the black delrin bushing using my thumb nail so not to damage the thread and delrin!(sorry, I did not take photo of it!)
This is how I remove the clip.

Cut to size, I almost cut half of it.

I positioned the clip on top then using thumb nail to put it on.

Thanks everyone for the inputs on the Gemini with the fill screw on/off. I guess I need to play more with it to use it with the screw on!
Its so easy with the screw off, but I like the challenge! Got to master it someday as I don't have any dry hits on my DID mini.

Thats bad Uke - it should have come with an allen wrench and your right - no u.s. sized ones I have fit it. Your going to need metric allen wrench

I'm like Dspin on the air holes. I've never had a genny wick with the screw in. Maybe it's the ohms of the atty? I use 0.8Ω. I don't know .....
While I'm at it, how does a genny over wick? It's never happened to me either. Does the juice gather in the cap?

I find with fill holes plugged, vapor and taste is less. Then again I am very sensitive to the slightest change in vape. I have never had a genny overwick either.

Thanks Hoey, I managed to get the delrin off buy prying with a flat head screwdriver. That took quite a bit of effort. I tried to get the C clip off with a pair of needle nose pliers but I think I need one more hand lol. I will try again.

It may have been bought from the classy's minus the allen wrench. ; )

I got it on the classies.... I was in Ace yesterday but didn't bring the DID with me and they asked if it was metric.... I should have thought; you know, Greece... metric. It is a pretty big nut hole at that.
Come to think, the person i got it from must have decided to keep the allen wrench it came with... grrr. At least I paid a fair price.

Question- I have a short DID that I've never gotten to work. It was my first, got it on the classies and thought (was told) it was a mini. So I messed it up, broke the center tube, reordered one, and since I thought I had a mini, got the regular sized mini tube. That didn't work, so I just ordered a regular DID along with parts for the first shorty and I have loved the regular DID since November.

I'm messing around with the first short DID, and there is the tiniest piece of the broken center tube stuck in the threading of the base /connecter, just enough that the whole unit doesn't screw down together by a millimeter or less. I thought that I might cover up the little gap on the outside with an o-ring, and that would be my second DID. So I put it together, put on a wick and coil, and the meter reads .8 ohms, perfect for me. On my Precise, though, the coil doesn't fire at all. Any ideas?

Great pics Hoey! Putting that clip back on is worse for me than getting it off. I took apart my SS switch the other day to cut down the spring and when I went to put the clip back on I must've gotten distracted and it shot across the room at light speed. I finally found it on top of the fridge...

Hey OOTA, are you using the SS switch or the Brass? I find the brass to be much smoother than the SS but am making myself use the SS now to break it in. Cutting down the spring makes it so much nicer to use but the crunchy feel just takes a while to wear off (manufacturing specs on these Temon switches are pretty close so they feel pretty tight when new). I'm half tempted to do a couple twists of the button shaft with steel wool or super fine sandpaper, just don't have any desire to tackle that c-clip again till absolutely necessary (proverbial thorn in the Lion's paw...).

Surprised your not getting anything through it, but wouldn't be surprised if performance was hindered by not having the center tube snugged up proper (it is actually part of the return circuit so just touching threads would provide less conductivity).

Have you tried pulling the delrin insulator out of the bottom connector and then seeing if you could get that piece out? I would look for a small tapered flat head screw driver and try to go in from the bottom. The inside of the piece of broken center tube should smaller than the hole in the base so maybe if you could get the tip of a small screw driver (one that is a bit wider at the thicker part of the blade) in there enough you could unscrew the leftover piece.

Just last week, I too, encountered my first dry wick, using this same method as I've always used. The new mesh also didn't grey like it normally does when I hold it over the stovetop. It was also springier than usual. I had to remove the wick, and torch/quench 3x, then I did the season trick 3x with bic lighter and juice, and it's been fine since. It also stiffened the wick.
I think the different grades of mesh makes a big difference, and now I "totally get" why some peeps have wicking or hotspot problems now and then. Oh, and I had hotspot problems with this wick too, until it pulsated healed, but it took longer than usual. I usually don't have hotspot problems at all either. The mesh was different though.

LOL, I had an "A.G." moment recently. Everything the same as always (I can rewick & coil any of my DID's in under 5 mins...) yet everytime I hit the button -> "POP!". I literally popped 4 coils before I tore it completely apart, re-cleaned everything, reassembled. That's one reason I never take apart more than one DID at a time. If the evil spirits conspire against me I just grab a different device and come back later when the frustration levels have returned to normal (and the good spirits have recharged all my helpful talismans...)

I'm with you on this one Miriam. I always have my fill screw in but will loosen it a few turns with some of my thicker juices (not all 100% VG juices are equal viscosity). If I ever do get degraded wicking a quick squonk sorts it right out. (not sure why but I laugh every time I hear the word squonk - squonk, squonk, squonk...)
