I think I deserve the right to like what I want as an individual. Deal with it.

:p

But seriously though, I just don't like side buttons and those dinky looking slots turn me off. Guess I'm weird

I feel the same about bottom buttons. Ginger and Mary Ann. But I liked both of them. That not weird

LOL I agree with ya on that one Tony. I just took a peek at that other mod and Jim's Poldiac blows it out of the water not with it's esthetics but with its components and functionality. IMHO of course. ;)

Howdy fellow DiDer's! I haven't gotten over here in a while. Hope everyone is doing well.

I broke my baby D14 last week and my parts arrived yesterday but those evil UPS people took them with them. :glare: My god do I miss my little baby. :(

OT but very cool Avatar Vap.... (oh, and sorry to hear about the broken DID)

The fiery red head for a hot night out on the town or the down to earth brunette you could take home to mom, both have their place. No weirdness there:). Good thing PVs aren't like women, you can have it all. (No offense intended to any women out there, y'all are great!)

Heya cw. Yeah thanks, that's my girl in my avi. She's been a nice ride over the years.

I went postal on the postal people tonight when I got home to yet another damn UPS notice. Jim has GOT to change his website to allow people the option for no Sig required. I really lost it on those poor UPS folks. Funny the things you do when you've gone a week without your favorite DiD.

Bummer, I think you can get a form from them, sign it and tape it to your door.

So the talk about cleaning the Poldiac silver switch internal contacts. Does this correct the issue of not firing regularly? I'm curious because mine does not fire. It has been in my box for a while went to pull it out for some use and it drove me nuts not activating.
Thank you for the info :)

Hey DID guys.
Planning to buy the D20. Any recommendations for a mechanical mod that would look good with the D20?
Low voltage drop with sub 1ohm coils would be essential.

D20 on a precise plus 18650/500/350 is my first setup (prePoldiac) they were made for each other if the P+ is flat top.

Sometimes it takes more than cleaning the contacts. My Poldiac had severe firing problems and I was cleaning the contacts sometimes twice a day every day and I am not exaggerating.

After a few weeks and before taking to it with a hammer I pulled it apart for the last time and got stuck into the switch barrel with sandpaper, knives, screwdrivers used as scrapers etc.

I shortened the barrel by taking the magnet off and sanding and then scraped every nook and hole with screwdrivers and sandpaper. This was my last ditched attempt to get it working.

To cut a long story short, after I reassembled it, It worked!! It could be better but works like it never did before.

Just to let you all know that sometimes it is more than just cleaning the contacts.

Hope this helps others as I was about to give up and destroy it in a tantrum of fevered anger and disgust especially when everyone, everywhere was saying how good it was. :)

A couple things on the contacts, I agree it's not always just about cleaning but my first lesson learned was to remember to clean the little pin in the button (easy to forget to clean and equally easy to forget to put it back in - I've done that a few times already).

Another observation (I think it was Tony's find) don't over tighten the inner contacts (the bigger flat ones). I found that if they are more than thumb nail snug sometimes the button pin may only touch one or the other but not both. Seems thumb nail snug allows them to settle into alignment as the pin in the button will stop (making a good connection) once it touches both equally.

I had the button bind on me once when I hadn't lined up the Delrin insert properly but I could see it sticking if there were any debris or if it was "off" a little as the tolerances in there are pretty tight. If my felt too tight I do what Raven did and sand down the button barrel a little with super fine sand paper or emery cloth.

Another thing that I also do is during setup I tighten the bottom outer contact (on the battery side) flush with the inner. I use 2 springs in the bottom so all the battery sizes I use (AW, Panasonic, 650/500/350, etc) make a great contact I think it's got better conductivity when not loose. The upper still needs to be adjusted to your atty. I get to where the airhole is ~1/8th turn from where I want it then tighten it the last 1/8th so it's got a decent amount of pressure on the positive post.

I hope everyone can get sorted out. It's ultra frustrating when something isn't working well and everyone else seems to be getting along great.

Yes, this will happen. You can go merrily along vaping it everyday and then - nothing. Totally nothing. Even cleaning contacts wont help sometimes, then you must do complete tear down and clean.

The tolerances are amazing. But that also means you need to be just as accurate. Sometimes the magnet attached to the switch is not centered and can rub the switch tube. It is a basic design so just think it thru on how it works, contacts, then moving parts and you will be sure to find the issue. I personally think taking the plastic parts out during cleaning ( except the switch ) can lead to switch problems for the less mechanically inclined folks. Leave alone unless absolutely needed. IMO. By the way I have mine for 4 months still haven't taken it out. There are alternatives to the baking soda methods but you may loose some silver or have to deal with poison while cleaning. If you find you are cleaning more the once a week. Most likely your not cleaning it well enough when you do. I clean once a week but can go two weeks without. This is the best device I every owned. But it is not a plug and play through away. It take a beating and keeps on ticking. Like the did. Lastly if it's not working it because of you. Once you except that, you will get it working reliably and hitting hard. I've had to look in the mirror a few times myself :) just ask questions someone else for sure has had the same issue resolved. Good luck.

Another thing I do every time I clean the contacts is to clean the threads (all of them...) with PGA and paper towel wipe down. Doesn't get mentioned very often but the body and caps are part of the circuit as well and grimey threads can cause issues.

I've been preparing for my new job and am in Mississippi for a month of training now. With everything going on I haven't cleaned my baby in about a month now and she is still going strong. I passed all preliminary tests yesterday so maybe I will have a little time to care for her now. Thanks to all my MMV family here for helping to keep me grounded while I spend a month away from home, appreciate all you guys and gals here. I would also like to officially start a petition for a Tony edition Poldiac with a shirt that has tiger stripe shaped slots. I would love to order a Tony edition shirt. Just thinking out loud here, y'all have a good one.
