2 hrs later, I finally get a ribbon coil that at least heats up evenly red. The first attempts wouldn't heat up at all. Vamo consistently reads "lo". The little ohm checker has been anywhere from 0.8-1.4, depending on which wrap, yet only one of the attempts has actually lit up when on the Vamo. The Vamo still has yet to read me an ohm instead of a 'lo'. At least I'm finally getting the flat ribbon wire down.
By this time tomorrow, I hope to be a pro with both the flat ribbon wire and the cable wick and show you boys how it's done! :lol:

So glad to hear that Uma, I use Poldiac to pulse dry burn and set the coil onto a new unburned wick. Poldiac power!!!
Looking forward to seeing Uma's setup tutorial! honestly though its well worth the effort once up and running well, as you know practice makes perfect.

:lol: No tutorials about flat ribbon wire from this gal ever. No way. :lol:
Yeh, usually I use my old LT, because it's okay if it hard shorts out. I didn't want to hard short a nice mod, hence the reason for using the Vamo. I could care less if that thing breaks. But it still wouldn't read nor would it fire up. So I tried it on my Roller & Poldiac both and it still wouldn't work even though the meter reader thing gave it a nice thumbs up. Next I took out my trusty dusty B.A.M. (xdaGreen) and lo and behold, that's when the coils finally began heating up. What a day!!
I finally achieved 3 solid red coils. :banana: and even took a pic of them glowing oh so pretty in case I never achieve nirvana again.
Upon viewing the pic, my heart fell. Oh no! I still have to trim the wick down a bit. (the wrap/diaper had moved up and I couldn't get it to slide back down). Okay, deep breath. No problem. Just trim it with scissors... easy now... TADA, very nice! Now fire er up. The glory faded. There is now 2 bright red coils and one Dim Wit.. errr, I mean Dim Lit. But I don't care anymore. I filled er up with Chocolate Mint and have been enjoying a nice vape. It could be better, but at least it's not one of those shorts that shoot off metallic taste or what not. I'll be happy.
Thanks for listening to me rant and rave and vent and hope. :thumbsup:

Slightly off topic, I'm pretty annoyed with myself. Thought I was missing just a short did bottom to make another and ordered that and some random parts off mmvapors. Realized I never got the short post and bottom insulators...

It's so annoying because the cost of shipping is so high and if I order these parts, I would have been better ordering a new DiD...

I'll let you know the next time I order from MMV and maybe we can split shipping. (Please do the same) :)

Happy Memorial Day Weekend my MM Vapors Family :D

After 8 1/2 months of owning my Standard DID I finally had to throw away a wick LOL And that is with 8 1/2 months of vaping Pluid exclusively in it too :D

Well since I needed to rebuild it anyways I went ahead and replaced both upper and lower insulator and all O Rings as well as putting on the new top nuts I ordered with my Poldiac parts order so basically I no longer have the little M2 nuts on there and it is a fully functional and Very Very Good Performing almost new DID :D

This is the Original DID as well with the brass post and no numbering. Anyone who questions the Quality of these products has got to be on something other than E Cigs LOL

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day :D
Sincerely;
Nate

aha! All that trouble yesterday with the flat ribbon wire, happened to be the connecter on the Vamo needed raising. Come to find out, it's a common problem with these. :lol: After raising the connection, it now reads 2.2 and vapes a charm (for a cheapie electronic mod).

Hey Nate! My wicks last for forever too, I've only redone one and that was because I had cut it too short the first time. I agree, these things rock! I love my DID series... Oh, and I finally splurged for the D-16!!!!! ::faint:: I'm almost caught up with the fanatics, still need a shorty. :D

oops, forgot to shout out a big thanks to Burnie for reminding me about other mods. The wire I used was too high of resistance, which is why the Poldiac and Roller weren't working with the low battery. By the time I got out the BAM I didn't care if the battery were fresh or dead. It was fresh-ish and worked a charm.

Hehehe Thanks UMA :D Yeah they do last a very long time in the DID's I too need to finish out my Collection. I just really cannot afford to do it right now. Just had to have work done on my car that totalled over 1500 dollars so my Vape Budget has been cut short for a while. I love my DID and Gemini though and eventually I will also have a D16 and Shorty as well :D

Hope you are having a great Day :D It is very quiet out and about down here today :D
Sincerely;
Nate

@burnie71 thanks I may do that as I don't care how long it takes

@amirite totally agreed for that one! let me know whenever and I'll do the same :)

Let me know if y'all do a group ship, let me know. I've got some small parts I'd like to order, but the shipping would almost double the cost. :blink:

Now Nate where is the fun in setup and forget it?
I have been using the DID for a year now (of course they multiplied to 8), they look brand new still, they have taken a beating and still shine like new. The build quality is superb.... I wish they had a bigger tank though...perhaps the D22 will have a bigger tank.
I am in the process of switching mine over to ss rope. I think that is definitely a forever wick.
His weekend I am trying to organize my vape stash (quick is very extensive), and draining and cleaning all my gennies. ....wondering if I should open a vape store....I certainly seem to have enough of everything to stock a store.

I'm definitely a DID convert now.. I mean I enjoyed it before, but now I love it!

I had a ceramic at 1 ohm and it was great, but this morning I rewicked with ss mesh at 1.8 ohm and holy cow it's night and day.. The taste and vapor production is at lease 8x more than with the ceramic.

I think it's strange though, because with my Mac and zen, I got better taste and vapor with the ceramics.. Oh well, life is good and I think I'm done with cartos now.. :)

My full brass Poldiac arrived today, very nice too! brass pants are now tucked away in its bag safe from my sweaty paws. I now have my version of Aname in satin and polished brass Stunning!!!. :w00t:
It is so great to be able to chop and change at will to create what best suits the eye, and thanks to Jims design we his customers (fans) we can do this.
With the coming production of the D22 I guess the rush will be on again I for one hope soon, I would love one with satin stainless base, polished brass top deck and stainless cap then my Poldiac will be complete.
Then I wonder what's next? I don't need anything else, but Jim's creations are so addictive.

He still needs to make a full Ti edition with a special Ti DID. Set #001 is mine and the rest of you can fight it out for the rest :lol: I'm going to keep bringing this up until Jim tells me to shut up or bans me from this thread :D

Steve maybe if you buy the stock material first and re-tooling cost, he may consider the cost and build you one :D. Don't think too many would be interested cost wise, I am quite happy as they are "Great" what benefit do you see in Ti anyway? bloody expensive if it got stuffed up machining. Not knocking just wondering.

It would be a lightweight one of a kind mod. Expensive yes and I bet he would sell everyone he made. Look at the Ti Zens and they sold out. Another would be the Ti Wizard and Wand. I would be more than willing to shell out the money it would take to buy one of these Greek masterpieces and I'll wager if he made a list it wold be full in less time than you think. Look what used Ihy LEs are selling for in the classies and it's just an average anodized mod with some engraving. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a piece of aluminum bling when I can own the Mona Lisa of mods for just a little more. :)

Good Morning :D And Happy Memorial Day to EVERYONE

I agree, it really does get to be second nature to know that I do not have to bring a whole bag of rebuild gear with me everywhere I go. I just KNOW it will work and I will only rebuild it when either the planets align just enough to throw a bad taste in it or I just plain get bored and want something to do :D

I have actually torn down and rebuilt every single atomizer I own this weekend and also replaced all insulators and O rings on the D20 and the Gemini and they are very Happy Atomizers now :D

Hoping everyone is having a great Holiday and please remember our fallen who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy.

Sincerely;
Nate
