New to the e-cig forum and also pretty new to vapeing...I have had a Vamo V2 and ProTank2 for the past month or so but yesterday I bought a ProTank3. Long story short, the threads on my Vamo stripped and my local vape shop loaned me a Zmax until they can get my Vamo fixed. I'm having some issues with the zmax though. The instructions say that with a 1.8-2.2 ohm coil I can run between 3.2-6.0 volts. I have been running 5 volts and getting a good vape. All of the sudden I got a message that said .1o. I have looked online and I can't find a explanation for this. I called a friend and he said to run it at 3.8 volts but when I do that I get a really stong throat hit with almost no smoke. Any suggestions?

yah, careful not to go screwing it on as hard as you can...just finger tight is good with 'em.

I dont know what stock Kanger Protank 3 heads are as far as resistance, but I know all the ones on my protank II minis are 2.5 printed on them...

then I went and rebuilt all the ones im using :p so I think they are more likely around 2.0 ohms now. Im waiting for the Ka~Boom!!

..but vaping while I wait.

Sounds like you over tightened the protank and twisted the coil wire creating a hot spot or a short. This can happen with the knager atomizers. Try a new coil head, let it saturate with juice, then just slightly tighten it to the devise.

Thanks. Just changed the coil head and letting it sit for a minute. I'll give it a try in a few minutes.

The zmax is reading 1.9 ohms. Is 5 volts too high even for the dual coil on the ProTank3?

It's all about taste, if you get a burned taste, or think it generally doesn't taste as good just turn it down. Just because a device can go to 6v or 15w or 20w doesn't mean you need to use all that power or voltage. Right now I am vaping S'mores from the vapor chef on a 2.0 ohm coil and for me the sweet spot is 4.2v, anything higher and the flavor starts to get funky.

But if you really want to push it you could go 6v, it's a regulated device so nothing is going to blow up it might taste bad, and if you chain vape the unit will get hot and if the mod has some form of temperature safety setting it might shut down until it cools off.

5 volts....are you getting really hot vapes with that? My little EVOD VV batt wont go that high and I wouldnt run it that high for my juices...3.7-8 is around my max lately for what im using.

ah, according to the chart you are in the red...bump it down to below 4v. see if your vapor is good then.

What do you guys call finger tight? As an electrician finger tight to me is as tight as it can go by only using your hands. I've got some tanks that will distinctly stop turning at a point, but for the ones that do not I usually just pick a location where I like it to end up facing my button on my ego, like a window on the evods or the ml (scale?) on my t2's.

I got it set on 4.2 volts now and I am getting a good taste but I am not getting the smoke that I used to get with my Vamo. Honestly, this zmax is way more confusing than my Vamo that I'm used to. I usually run 7.5 watts on my Vamo and find that to be the best vape but I can't seem to figure out how to get this dang zmax to run watts instead of volts.

1.9 ohms at 7.5 watts yields a voltage of 3.7749 volts.
