My advice is not specific to any particular geographical area. In general, I think beginners are better off starting out with variable voltage, and something other than pre-filled cartridges.

If a beginner wants to experience fixed voltage, they can set the Twist to 3.4 and leave it there.

You're a twist fan alright. I'm in New Zealand - geography makes a difference. I envy some of the choices folk have that are out of range for me budget wise right now. Each to their own if they're happy I think. I'm over three months not smoking. I'm happy.

Thank you for all the information (and yes I read the whole post). I watched the video and checked out all your suggestions. I also did some more research about the pre-filled and can understand why you suggest the ego twist. I do still plan to start with Volt. If I continue vaping after I quit smoking I plan to buy everything on your list. I am sure that you are correct and I will love it and it is not because I do not trust you (even though I don't know you), but I think this will work better for me right now. I understand so much more about vaping reading your post and looking through the forum. I am really excited about not smoking (even though I like smoking). I will keep you up to date and if I have any other questions, I will be sure to PM you.

I would refill the volt carts for now as it's much cheaper than buying prefilled.

Cynt, thank you for the kind words. I am obviously not the man, but I do aspire to be one of them.

I take a lot of heat for being so pro-Twist, but I don't do it for the sake of promoting the Twist. I do it because it's the only variable voltage device available in the eGo form factor, it works very well, is reliable, and costs about $22.

I still do not understand the rationale for recommending fixed voltage devices like the kGo, e-Power, or constant-voltage Joyetech batteries over the Twist. I just don't. "Newbies don't need VV" leaves me speechless. I think that the ability to turn the warmth of the vape up or down will make it more enjoyable, and that that will increase the odds of success in the war against cigarettes.

443,000 people died from smoking last year in the United States alone. This is war. Sending a newcomer into the war with a constant voltage device is to me like sending a soldier into Iraq with an unarmored Humvee, when his chances of survival would be greater in an armored Humvee. Victory ("V") through VV.

If a newbie is brave (braver than I was) I actually would recommend the Twist, but what I really want to say is, feel free to explore a little more when you learn to vape, don't wait until you've "quit smoking" unless that is easy for you. For me, getting the right flavor and vapor is clearly going to be a prerequisite to quitting the stinkies. So far I've only cut in half. But the more vapor and flavor I get, the easier it is to reach for my
PV (volt X2 at the moment) than a stinky.

At this point if I were not sharing supplies with 2 people who are still very unsure newbies, I would probably get myself a twist, but for now I'm sharing 808 supplies with people who really want/need an automatic X2.

I get your enthusiasm for the Twist but really, it's not just newbies who don't need variable voltage. I'd venture to say that MOST of the people on this forum, now and over the past four or so years, quit smoking easily without using VV ecigs. I know I did, and the KGO keeps me off the cigarettes just fine. Constant voltage ecigs are wonderful in their own right - and they work. That's especially true of the KGO because the voltage is 4.2 of thereabouts. I think the key is to have a voltage of 3.7 minimum.
