So I've discarded using analog (well, about 99%) and have been using a Blu Starter Pack that I got from walgreens about 7-8 months ago. I used to smoke for about 4 years. (around 10-13 smokes a day) The Blu ecig Kit has been lackluster for me, though. Not only does each cartomizer only last about for 50 minutes total before you're sucking every last bit out of it, but the battery charge is seemingly random and usually doesn't hold for as long as I'd like before I'm fumbling for the pack to charge it. I've only bought about maybe 4 of the $15 Blu refill packs since I've started using it.. so I feel like I've cut back immensely from what I used to actually smoke. There was a time once or twice when I had a real cig though because the Blu kit was acting up when I needed it.

Anyways.. it's time for me to move on to bigger and better things as I feel like I'm wasting money on a product that doesn't deserve it. I've done plenty of research on all different kinds of platforms and types, but I'm still wary about making my first online purchase.

I think the eGo-C Twist is probably the right one for me. I've been reading reviews on it all day and it seems amazing. My biggest issue as a newbie to anything besides using Blu Ecigs is what exactly do I need to purchase so I don't forget something and need to wait another 3-5 days for shipping?

I really like the look of what this guy is using:

Is a tank system a smart choice? If someone could piece together the exact parts I'll need to use what that guy above is using, I'd be eternally grateful. (I know I probably sound useless, but I just want to order everything I'll need to start vaping properly) I realize I'll also be needing juice, and it doesn't really matter to me what kind/flavor it is as long as I get a nice throat hit. So feel free to suggest to me what you like.

Thanks for any and all feedback I acquire!

well to get the same setup as what that guy has in the vid you would need the following: the ego twist battery, the charger, a tank set up(dct are my favorite), a few spare cartos for the tank(most will mess up a few before they get it all figured out) and some ejuice.

if variable voltage isnt a big issue, you could always look in to a ego like kit set up.... i know volcanoecigs.com offer a inferno(same thing as a ego non vv) starter kit. it includes two batteries 1-650 mah and 1-900 mah(both are passthru batteries), the cable to charge, the tank system and 6 1.5ohm dual coil cartos for the tank, and a bottle of 15ml juice(you can choose flavor and nic level).... all for $75

Welcome , and the Ego Twist is a good entry level Varible voltage device , anywhere from 3.2 volts , up to 4.8 volts . Stick with regular carto's or tanks as Dual coil ( DCT ) tanks and carto's suck the life out of the battery . There is a single , LR tank , I'm using , called an Emerald , around 3ml. I think . Looks great on the Ego's and produces great vapor and flavor . Vivi-novas work too , but are the 5 ml size , So they look a bit big for the Ego's . But there are aloso lots of atty/carto tank type devices out there . Stardust's/Ego Visions , Phoenix bottom coil tank ( Gotvapes ) as well as other's . Toss the Blu's or keep them as a last ditch back-up . But hang in there , you will get there . We all had to do the trial and error thing , when we started . So your not alone in that aspect .

The Ego Twist is a great upgrade, you won't regret it. For ease of operation, go with the stardust/equinox (and whatever else they are calling it). It is an atomizer with a tank that will look fine with the eGo. It comes with replacement parts that you just screw in, so it will last longer than the cartomizers you are using with the Blu. The Vivi Nova comes with the replacement parts also, and holds more but as another poster stated it looks kind of big on the eGo.

Next comes the juice to put into it. That is a personal taste thing, and finding one you like can be a crapshoot. Just remember that when you first get some of them they need time to meld and may not taste great at first.

And one last precaution: DO NOT buy a LR (low resistance) atty with the eGo, it will run it down faster and kill it because the little chinese battery devices just don't have the power for them. LR's are for the more advanced batteries and mods. So always buy the SR (standard resistance) ones.

Stick with rather clearomizers, easy to use and fill. Make sure they are the long wick! I've got provaris and they are only a step or two above the twist. You can't go wrong with them. Once you figure your juice likes and voltage step up if you want to an Apollo or Provari, but my twist always remain my backup, good luck to you!

I recommend looking into a Provari along with the rebuildable CE4+(stardust).
This set-up is what I've ended up with.

I'm not into disposable type stuff, the Provari does cost more but should last for a good number of years if it isn't abused too much. I'll use an 1100mah or twist type battery at work or wherever it might get lost or damaged. The Provari was the first APV I purchased.
No regrets there.

Instead of throwing away cartos the stardusts can be "rebuilt" by replacing the coil and wick assembly for 2-4 dollars. Keeping it clean by rinsing and dryburning 2 or 3 times a week, the lifespan of one head unit can be many weeks for me. Really inexpensive option. imo.

If you have yet to check out this link... New Members Information ....there are sticky threads that every newbie should check out.
It helps if you can vape while you do it though.

Welcome to the forum and a Big Congratulations on switching over.

Cheers!:vapor::vapor:

Stick with a reo mod
While I am sure this is great advice, we are talking about a person who wants to upgrade from a Blu. I started with a Blu, and believe me when I say that while the REO is indeed awesome, it takes a bit more of a learning curve to want a box rather than a cigarette look alike upgrade. Let the OP learn parts, juices etc. with an economical device like the Twist. If the OP feels more comfortable in time with all the stuff to get, perhaps then recommend the wonderful but expensive REO box mod. For now, squonking a box is much too much for someone without a mentor in person to show them the parts, juice etc.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. Though I'm relatively new to vaping, here is the first setup I recently ordered after searching and reading reviews from veteran vapers.

Ego Twist Battery - 900 mAh
Ego USB Charging Cable
= $42.97

eGo Thread Sleeve Type C Large Tank - Fits All Std eGos CHROME
GotVapes VISION ViVi NOVA™ 3.5ml V2.5 REBUILDABLE TANK
GotVapes ViVi NOVA Metal Tube Cover - Red

= $$21.68

Halo Sample Pack
(w/free 10ml of Mystic Menthol)
= $26.10

Do note that the Ego Twist I purchased is not by Joyetech but from another manufacturer. Since I haven't receive it so I comment on the build quality, your best bet is altsmoke.com's (good warranty and CS) eGo-C Twist Battery eGo-C Twist Battery however their Ego charger is out of stock so either you'll have to wait until they restock or purchase from another vender. Also, if you decide to go with altsmoke.com, register first and use the code FIRSTORDER for 10% off your first order (thanks to Mroutlaw). Also, you can get 5% off on Gotvapes.com by subscribing to their newletter. Even though Vivi Nova would seem big on Ego-C Twist, but if you ever outgrow Ego, just swap it with Provari/VMax/Lavatube and you're ready to go.

ShogoNinga did a fantastic work compiling a wealth of vaping information in his Handbook here, give it a try.

When i set someone new out to get a starter setup i send them to get the 'Ego Starter Kit' from Rawr Vapor: Home page. It comes with an Ego passthrough, cord, cartos, a drip tip, and 2 5ml bottles of juice. This is basically everything you need to get started including the juice. He charges $30. It comes out to $33 with shipping. To me this seems like the best bang for the buck.

He also sells the DCT carto tanks and SINGLE COIL cartos, which are important if you use an Ego style battery. I personally dont think its safe to use dual coils on an ego battery.

I agree, or LR atties either. Great recommendation.

Wow. I don't think I've ever gotten this many replies from anywhere before. So many options and recommendations from you all. Would this Volcano Inferno Kit be a good choice? I ask because this seems to come with everything you need (correct me if I'm wrong) and it will fill the needs of someone who would smoke between 8-10 full cigarettes a day, I assume? I'm not looking to vape all day, I just want a quick nicotine fix while on a lunch break at work when I'm stressed; or a quick fix after a large meal.

I don't know if I can handle ordering a bunch of seperate parts of things that I don't even know how to work. (remember, I've only used Blu..)

Pros and Cons of this Volcano Inferno setup would be awesome.

My personal research has lead me to the following conclusions.

For an Ego style battery use nothing lower than 1.8 ohm. I stick to 2 ohm personally.

For a battery mod that uses IMR batteries on an unboosted circuit, I like 1.5 ohm attys or cartos. I personally use the Ego 18650 battery tube mod and a 1.5 ohm 306 atomizer in a drip shield from Empiremods.com.

For Variable Voltage mods, you can use any atty or carto. The rule of thumb seems to be more resistance more voltage, less resistance less voltage.

For dual coil cartos or atmoizers, i would never use an ego. Only some kind of battery mod that i could put an IMR battery into.

The volcano looks like a good setup, but it looks just like the Blu and honestly it is EXPENSIVE. The starter kit for the eGo is much less, though only comes with one battery. You can pick up a 2nd for about $20. Batteries are disposable and need to be replaced over time. With many vendors selling them, competition keeps the eGo cheap. The Volcano is proprietary...

The volcano comes with cartomizers, prefilled. Again, expensive. It may seem intimidating to have to fill your own, but honestly I refilled my Blu's! Someday you may want to switch juices, having to not rely on prefilled carto's gives you many more options. And of course you can always buy prefilled cartos for the eGo. They are threaded with 510 which gives you the most options.

Volcanos are not variable. That may not mean anything to you now, but if you continue this journey you may find yourself wanting it. If not, no biggy just leave that little thingy at the base of it alone. It comes preset at the lowest. I also think, but am not sure, that the Volcano will not have as much power as the eGo. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

There is a reason you are hearing the word eGo over and over again from us.

EDITED TO ADD: You can also use the Blu cartomizers on the eGo. I still do on occasion.

i had a similar question as the op, now i'm graduating from small 510 batteries with cartomizers, i want to get a tank system(innokin itaste/infinity)

my question is generic though, with a tank system, how often do you usually end up replacing the tank itself? the atomizer i suspect will about as long as the cartomizers(i get about a week or 2) but would i be correct in assuming the tanks themselves last considerably longer?

Also are there any major downsides to using a tank system(leaks, taste, vapor etc...), i tried a janty neo style system and it just ended up leaking all over the place, didnt taste that great either.

Alright, thanks a lot! I think I'm going to go with the $30 kit you and the other person provided for me. Should I order anything else extra, like more juice? How long will the 1 battery provided last me?

Battery life is, well, variable? They are made in china. How much will you use it? How much will you charge it?

As for what else to buy, buy another battery. That way you will always have one charged as a backup. You will find the eGo may last a half a day or even two days for you as a light user. My Blu didn't last very long. Literally after ONE day of charging and using my 510, it lasted 1 hour. What does this mean for you? No more having to carry around a pack look alike. You charge it on a usb, which comes with a plug into the wall that you put the USB into. Convenient. I charge one while I am on the computer.

One thing you should bear in mind, this eGo does not look like a cigarette, it is bigger. More battery is bigger. Plus, unlike the blu it will have a button. This is a "manual" battery. Instead of inhaling and having it turn on you press the button then inhale. This is better because you aren't sucking and vaporizing, you are vaporizing then inhaling. You get a better hit. To turn it off, press the button 5 times, on press 5 times again. This prevents it from being activated in your pocket or something. When you get it, charge it. It will work right away but isn't fully charged.

You may want to pick up a few more juices of varying flavors. One great thing about this is you can have a LOT of choices!

ETA: and one of those choices might just be prefilled cartridges, they screw onto it as it is a pretty common size 510.
